  • I'm grateful anytime I can hear this fine march unobscured by the clapping. When I listen to music I want to hear ALL of it and not have it tainted by extraneous noise. Blasorchester Neuhof has a very good version of this in which you can hear the trumpet part that seems to be missing in this one.

  • me hicieron falta los aplausos!!

  • Österreich-Ungarn ist tot. Gott sei Dank!

Was braucht man mehr ?

  • Austria is the real homne of music. Austria produced such talent, except Richard Lugner and Mausie. lol

  • Sublime!!!!!

  • Ich liebe dich

  • i miss the clapping :(

  • This is one of mine favourite marches.Strauss is a great composer like every other in Austria.Vienna is a cradle of music for me.

  • ja, oesterreich-ungarn lebe hoch !!!!!!!

  • 1:12

  • I love playing this :)

  • ...Radetzky Radetzky ! ...Milano to remeber you !!! ...1848 !!!

  • @Grevale67 In late 1890's, Italian army used artillery against insurrection in Milano, killing hundreds of mainly innocent civillians. And Feldmarschall Radecký spared with one exception all insurgents which fell into hands of Imperial troops.

  • the only version i found where there are no morons clapping all the way through

  • @oddball2036 There are actually a number of versions where no morons clap all the way through, though not a lot where the clapping is done at precisely the traditionally correct moments. The version with Daniel Barenboim conducting shows him trying to reign the clapping in and get the audience to "perform" correctly.

  • @oddball2036

this is the only piece of music where you're free to clap during the performance, thats tradition

so clapping is a must ;)

  • @0Balvana0

    Stomping your foot too!

bzw. meine ur oma is dies gewesen ;)

  • The old Monarchy was a great mother country for all the people incorporated. It had granted wealth, growth and safety her citizens equally. Unfortunately, it was ruined by ignorance and blind nationalism. All the descendant states had a miserable post-monarchy history. The gloomy words of Frantisek Palacky came true, without the Monarchy the region became the booty of German and Russian imperialism. Today one can see the Monarchy as an early precursor of the European Union.

  • It's so much better live because it gets loud and obnoxiously awsome!

  • That six guys who listen to that and didn't like it were Germans :P just kidding

  • Y'know what makes ME happy.....being able to enjoy this fine march from start to finish without having part of it obfuscated by inconsiderate clods in the audience clapping along.....Yes, I know this is some kind of "tradition", but I don't care. When I attend a concert I want to hear ALL the music, not just a part of it.

  • österreich for ever austria for ever

  • The Monarhy must be restored but not only with inner Austria lands not with hungarian part where live barbaric people...

  • @DomobranskaLegija

can you erite names of countryes about wich you think?

all coutries of before litavsko, or only countries of Östereich

  • Drang nach Osten

    ne zaboravljamo,ali se muzici divimo,bedanke

  • Ein schöner Marsch

  • das ist halt Geschichte :)

  • I think the historical issue of nationalism, which is being discussed here, is being exaggerated.

  • voll geil :)

  • Einfach nur ein schönes Lied. Und mit ner feschen Österreicherin tanzen.

  • ÖSTERREICH 4EVER

  • i don't think that all czechs hate austria and the monarchy, but i also don't think that all parts of the monarchy loved austria. The monarchy doesn't exist since 100 years, i'm sure that noone knows if they loved or hated being a part of Austria.

Jedenfalls, da Radetzkymarsch is sehr schön.

  • I'm very happy to finally find a version of the "Radetzky March" WITHOUT all the clapping from the audience. When I attend a concert I want to hear ALL the music, not a performance obliterated by clapping. This is a great march and should be heard clearly ALL THE WAY through. Clapping is for a hofbrauhaus in Munich, not at a concert.

  • long live Austria

  • @DjLMFAO Es wird!

  • The best austrian general was czech. How irony.

  • @Fakken88 but czech was a part of austria

  • @loveAustria yep but Czechs hated austrian monarchy. thats an irony

  • the czechs never hated us,all austrian parts loved the monarchy, after the 1 WW this empire was destroyed because of the allies

  • Oh really? 1620 White Mountain. WW1 desertion czechs and slovaks to russia and allies army. Re-germanized czechs after 400years. Lesser right for vote for czechs.

Fact is no allies destroyed monarchy they helped. Thx to T.G.Masaryk with his political skills and brave Czechoslovak soldiers who fight AGAINST Austria-Hungary army.

  • you don't see the pns i have to reply every day, they all tell me they want the monarchy back!

  • Maybe yes , maybe no.

  • @loveAustria I agree with you... in Hungary there's many peolpe who wants th monarchy back.... because Hungary was bigger than now, it's economy was more better than now....

  • @loveAustria

I wanna have it back as well!

  • @loveAustria Do you know Jara Cimrman? He is shining proof that Czechs didn't love their austrian kaiser.. :)) It looks kind of weird when an Austrian says what have you just said about us. I don't have anything against Austria now, but i'm pretty sure that Czechs weren't satisfied with the austrian monarchy. I wouldn't be against turning Czech Republic into a monarchy nowadays, but certainly not under Austria. ;)

  • @loveAustria What are "pns"?

  • @XElTuertoX pns (german)=pms (english)

my mistake! i used the false letter!

  • @loveAustria Yea, but what is it?

  • @XElTuertoX personal messenges

  • @loveAustria Now all this stuff you've been writing has sense lol

    Ty

  • @Fakken88

I am Czech, but i wish the Monarchy will be restored. Because now it seems, the Czech political elite dont know how to rule own country. Such a shame.

  • @Andrasius Well, you're not alone......the current "leaders" of the USA don't know anything about governing either. I hope we can be rid of them by 2012 before they destroy our country. I've never seen more incompetent politicians.

  • @Andrasius

Vivat Emperor! I think if will be Monarchy restored and few parts united to one state, this new state can be stronger than every state alone.

  • @Fakken88 Well, even through Czechs had lesser rights in monarchy, it was still better than few independent states, that were just balls on Russia and Germany's playground. Austria-Hungary was a guarantee of existence for small states. It's only disadvantage was the fact, that they tried to hold it together at all cost. They should made it as a confederacy, with joint army and ruler.

And Iam saying this as a Czech.

  • @guldecz The last emperor actually tried to do that at the end of the great war. It would have been interesting to see if it would have worked.

  • @Scrunch6

and do you know who was last emperor?

Karel 1st or Franz Josef 1st

  • @Fakken88 if somebody with the name Radetzky could become highest ranking military officer in the Habsburg empire, this symbolizes that it has NOT been a nationalistic empire.

  • @Fakken88 Hmm Kind of forgeting the hundreds of thousands BRAVE Czech soldiers who fought FOR Austria and died in battle . The deserters and legionaires are over-glorified today the majority of czech regiments were loyal to Austria. All this pseudonationalistic nonsence that you were told in school is mostly lies and exagerrations. And by the way back in those days people had regional and Imperial identity they hardly called themselves czech anyway..

  • they didn't quite love the austrians. As far as I know, the Habsburg dynasty continuously denied request for federalisation and was by 1900 quite unpopular, at least in the slavic parts of the Empire.

  • @zygo144 I think it were caused because emperor was very old i think around 90 years. I think if he take control to hands of someone young monarchy can be alive after war, and WW2 was never happend. It mean

Gavrilo Princip (or how is spelling) kill Ferdinand, ant it caused death of millions. 7 shots kill millions. Terrible.

  • @loveAustria

Not all the parts loved us, the Bosnians hated us...

  • @loveAustria We had mixed feelings about Empire. Remember, this same empire tried to completely erase czech history and culture after Thiry Years War. We managed to get through it and our situation was decent at the beginning of WWI, but a vision of our own state (after more than 400 years) was stronger than continued existence as a second class citizens of the empire.

  • @Skyvlk I thing it´s perfect, truth from the first to last letter!!!

  • @Skyvlk Actually, the only thing Emperor Ferdinand III was concerned with was making sure that the Bohemian estates didn't rebel against him (after all, they started the 30 years war in the first place). "The Empire" didn't do anything to "erase your history and culture", it was just mandatory that Bohemia becomes Catholic again because Protestantism was the reason to rebel. The document sealing this was worked out by Sweden and France as main participants, I may add. (Peace of Westphalia)

  • @loveAustria

Those are pure lies. If the Czechs and Hungarians and others loved your monarchy, fine.

Just remember that the poor Polish nation that you destroyed hundreds of years ago never loved your monarchy, nor did we love Russian and Prussian (Later German) monarchy.

So don't ever say such insulting things that all countries under Austrian power loved you. We fought for our independence and had revolutions for a reason coward.

  • @ClassicMusicOnly i didn't say that everybody loved the monarchy, the discussion was just about czech, not poland!

  • @loveAustria

"the czechs never hated us,all austrian parts loved the monarchy"

I take that "Austrian parts loved the monarchy" your speaking of the occupied areas of the Empire, which triggered me to make my comment. If I misunderstood your intention or context I apologize.

  • @ClassicMusicOnly

Well, partition of Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów (Commonwealth of Both Nations) in XVIII century isn't remember good in polish history, but in polish mentality Franz Joseph is remember as a good oldman.

  • @Fakken88 they ruled as Kings of Bohemia. the Austrians never conquered Behomia and Moravia the kingdom was passed on to the habsburg same as with Hungary.

  • @Fakken88

Not Czechs love the Austrian Empire!

  • THANK GOD THAT AUSTRO HUNGARIAN "EMPIRE" IS FALLEN.

  • @Fakken88 Well the Austrian Empire was multinational! During the napoleonic wars the 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5 Life Cuirassier Cavalary Regiments were Behomian and Moravian. Czech is a modern word.

They had Croatian, Hungarian, Italian, Austrian, Czech and Irish generals in the Austrian Empire.

  • @Fakken88 then take radetzky as an example....he was a loyal servant of his emperor, and not a nationalist like todays czechs who still keep the racist benes decrets....

as schwarzenberg once said: "austrians and czechs are one nation with two languages"....so PEACE!

  • @Fakken88 what?!? Prinz Eugen was Savoyard, born and raised in Paris. Ironic really, since some of his finest generalship was against France.

  • @reserveporto ?? I wasnt writing about Eugen...

Do you know how stupid u are?

U should hear this song and don`t make any stupid comments.

    And @ glossyfarmboy

The future of Europe is in the Mediterannean and in Eastern Europe. thats a false thing that u Think cause Turkiye or any other country never rule the world or something Like these.

  • Hitler hated what Austria, in particular Austria-Hungary stood for. "Vielvoelkerstaat".

He was a fantasist. Austrians, Slovaks, Czechs, Galizians, Hungarians, Ruthinians, even Serbs, Croats, Bosnians.

The Germans never had anything like it. Even now they consider Slavs unworthy of their society (see Angela Merkel). They'd better get their act together or loose massive trade to the East in future. The future of Europe is in the Mediterannean and in Eastern Europe.

    Wake up creepy Germans.

  • @ skeletonchrist are you silly or/and stupid ?? please think - first !!!

  • Go Austria!

  • Go Austria....Over 500 years of glory, tradition. Defenders of Europe from the Muslem Ottomans...Austrian Empire, should be reformed under a equal partnership of people under a Democractic constitutional Monarchy presided over by a Dem Hapsburg dynasty. Austrians have a proud spirit, unlike the Germans who seem to have an infeority complex...Thus Two Wars!!

  • Yeah.... Well, Austrians "have a proud Spirit", so to see at the "great" Personality of Adolf Hitler who you send us. (Remember, he was austrian)

Thank you for this really clever comment and go throw yourself in front of a train or something.

  • @glossyfarmboy Halo, very good thing.I from serbia(north) and l living for day when are AUSTRIA put under her krown all lands vich belong from the god.Not only in ecnomics.WIENA my CAPITOL .Waiting for oders!

  • You're completely right. If it wasn't for Austria,Europe would have been completely over run by Ottoman hordes.

  • AUSTRIA's glory!

  • It's wonderful to find a version of this fine march without having some miscreants in the audience clapping along.....Tradition be damned. When I attend a concert I want to hear ALL of the music without being distracted by clapping during the piece.

  • Nice country, lovely people and great culture that is AUSTRIA. I love this country, greetings from Poland.

  • a lot beautiful comments to my country =) that makes me happy

  • as a comment to previous - he was Czech;but of course at those times the Bohemian kingdom was a part of Austian-Hungarian Empire

  • Radetzky was a great man. Things in Lombardy were much better under the Austrians...

  • Beautiful song! Respect for the austrians.

Things were much better in my land (Lombardy) when it was ruled by Radetzky.

Vale, saludos.

  • If Mexicans could play anything else than a trumpet and a banjo i would be surprised

  • super taky je to náš český rodak

  • If i see our political scene in Czech republic i want return Austrian Empire. The end of this empire in 1918 was a geopolitical catastrophe! OUr czech and slovaks foolish as a Masaryk a Stefanik were traitors! They destroyed best empire in the world. Kaiser Karl could reform Empire (which needed reform too much) and create constitutional monarchy.

Today we have 7 independent weak states instead one best Empire. Its unlucky.

Viribus Unitis! Hail Karl Habsburg-Lothringen, first Otto son.

  • @Mikhassel That's ridiculous! The empire was slightly fading since 1848, when it was clear, that this state was absolutely unreformable. Nobody destroyed Habsburg monarchy. The empire died naturaly. It wasn't a strong state. It was very weak state - and that's why it loosed the war and decayed. Several generations of people like Masaryk and Stefanik tryed to force the Habsburgs to do some reforms. Finaly, they realized that Habsburgs are blind and deaf to the changes of the world.

  • @Mikhassel Maybe if Karl take control few years earlier, he can save Empire, maybe second, or third strongest state in Europe. What we lost when empire crashed.

    Force

    Sea

    Alps

    Donau(but after 75y)

    Political influence

    Colonies

    ...

Who want monarchy back give +point

  • @MrToradragon : Political influence? When the Czechs had had some political influence, they wouldn't have fought for it since the end of the 16th century. Nothing you named belonged to the Czechs. It was Austrian and even the whole Bohemia, Moravia and the remains of Silesia (whose larger part Habsburgs lost from the Czech crown!) belonged to Austria. And NOT vice versa. The Habsburgs "loved" the Czechs so much, that they even didn't get crowned with the St. Wenceslas royal Czech crown.

  • @Nuk1eus

About political influence, I think if is big state, he have bigger political influence, if you are part of big state and when you have few chairs in parliament, you can influence more thinks than you are independent but small state.

About crown I thing it have many reasons, 1st emperor have many titles Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, King of Jerusalem etc. It was around 40-50 titles do you imagine number coronations? How many titles have British queen? But only one coronation

  • @Nuk1eus In serious, the Monarchy should have been transformed in a federative manner. During the seventies of the 19 cent. the Emperor and his prime minister, count Eduard Taaffe had tried to make a reconciliation with the Czechs, similar with Hungarians was made in 1867, however it was thwarted partly by Hungarians. The murdered heir, Franz Ferdinand was himself devoted to a trialistic state rather than a dualistic one.

  • @Nuk1eus There are six Habsburgs coronated with the "St. Wenceslas royal Czech crown" prior to White Mountain. I don't think so that it makes a big difference. In exchange to loosing the coronation ceremony, Czechs can say that a Czech king is the ancestor of all British monarchs since 1714.

  • @Nuk1eus

In 1850 Prague was mainly inhabited by Germans, as were most cities in Bohemia and Moravia. Most times there was little feeling for being "Czech". During the 7 years war Czech peasants could have got rid of the Hapsburgs, but they decided to fight the Prussians, there was not a single uprising. So in fact Bohemia was a rather German-Czech mixed country that had only little nationalist tendencies throughout history (f.e. during Hussites, the 30 years war was NOT a nationalist uprising).

  • @Guiskard30 First official census in Prague was in 1745 (shortly after all Jews were expeled) during the reign of Maria Theresia- Prague had 80,000 inhabitants - 73,5% had czech language as native language (therefore considered as czechs), 23% germans, 3,5% another (jews, hungarian, poles,). German inhabitants were in minority in Prague and were living mostly near Wenceslav square in city center. There was uprising in 1848 but it was brutally massacred by general Windisgratz army sent by emperor

  • @Mikhassel Emperor got chance to reform it in 1848, 1918 was rather late...

  • austria 4-ever :)

    germany sucks (:

    nee, scherzal vom herzal =)

    ham ganz nette nachbarn ....

    AEIOU 1529 - 1683

  • super das ist ein sehr schöner marsch

  • ah, the Radetzky march + pie fight, is the best time one can have.

  • geil!!!!!!!!

  • jaa man dit rockt xd haha.

  • You are sadly right Bythesew, i'm italian, from Modena, allied with austro hungarians against those bastard french and savoy.

  • Brilliant march. To bad for the Austrian's that some of their leaders were incapable. Otherwise they would've had co domination with German Empire and won World war I or maybe the war from Napoleon.
