@GeorgeL909 Holy Diver - no problem. It's just about a hero that a whole nation or at least a tribe puts their hopes and dreams in. He fights evil on the back of a tamed tiger and in the deep sea. Especially some of Dio's early lyrics are just about fantasy themes and have no deeper meaning at all.

@PisauraXTX Much of Holy Diver can be interpreted as comparing religious zeal to drug addiction. The tiger represents a needle, etc.

@PisauraXTX i remember seeing him in an interview a long time ago and he mentioned this song was inspired by a case of food poisoning he got from a beef sandwich in a Christchurch, New Zealand restaurant on Queen Street.

spent a lot of time on queen street in niagara falls. a bar called Elliot's used to be there. the place was frequented by whores, pimps, murderers, drug dealers, etc. loved the place. but i did help talk a friend out of bouncing there. took my brother in one time. he's a mathematician with a white collar job. he was amazed. just showing him another world. i miss Elliot's. they even had their annual murder. may those fellows RIP.
