well I am not into car audio or other...I run all eminence and D&B drivers...I deal factory direct with my audio company and have been doing it for over 15 years. the components that I run it is alot cheaper for me to go out and buy a whole new raw speaker than to recone...considering the time it takes etc. for me I have more important items to attend to than reconing a speaker. hell a eminence kappa pro LF I can pick up for just under 150 a recone kit cost around 60-80 so you do the math.
question is most of the time a recone kit is not even half the price of a new sub....so why would one just not spend on a new sub? screw all that work to save around 20 bucks. lol Time is money for me. I would rather be out making 20 bucks to cover the cost of new subs than sitting there reconing one. just my opinion so people need not freak out on it.
you sure are correct i like how you left surround on the basket still to ensure the best that basket where the spiders and surround is to suppose to be clean as possible all metal only , hopfully he doesnt do anybody recones expect for himself
idk how i blew my 1512 but ive played it at high volumes for lengthy periods of time on a 1k rms amplifier with no problem... one day i didn't even play it that hard and it smoked... now it has a nasty rattle to it

@extremeaudioPRO So... You are calling yourself "ExtremeaudioPRO"? Hmm...
Well, the Motor alone costs on a subwoofer like DD, Fi, SMD, DC and other about $200.
I think it will be ALOT cheaper then just buying a new subwoofer... How dumb you are..

This is one of the better vids on this subject. One question though. Why do you need the shims on a drop in recone? Like what is the purpose of it.
