@Jamo8886 I liked it, but when people kept raving about how it was "The movie event of our generation" or "The best movie ever" I couldn't help but think "Did I see the same movie? Because I already saw the movie event of my generation as well as the greatest movie ever (or at least pretty darn close) It's called the Dark Knight" Yeah, I thought SN was overrated a bit
@40Pacino The reason they say "our generation" is because it is. The Dark knight is an incredible work a monumental work at that. But The Social Network literally speaks to our generation because we are the internet and Facebook networking generation.
jesse eisenberg was one of my mom's high school students. im not lieing. when i first heard about this film and told my mom, she said that jesse eisenberg was one of my high students like back in the class of 2000-2001 i think.
Oh come ON!!!! Yes, I haven't seen the movie and no I don't want to. But seriously, is this movie really good? The footage in this review makes it look SO cliche and pathetic and basically just an add for Facebook
To think Jesse Eisenburg started off in Wes Craven's Cursed (which was stupid), Zombieland (which was gorey fun) and now he's starring in big movies like The Social Network!
A movie about FB? would people be interested to see this? Even if a lot of people use FB there is also a large population out there who do not use or know FB.
I have serious doubts about this movie. No matter how great the quality of the filmmaking is the subject of the story seems rather silly to me. I mean, really, a film about facebook? Wow... Looks to me like screenwriters of today need to get off facebook and out into the real world where reality takes place.
@broli720 I throw around accolades easily? Really? Have you seen my reviews on "Ebert & Roeper," my books on movies or for that matter my reviews on this site? The one thing I've never been accused of is being too soft on movies.
@TheRealRichardRoeper i was being sarcastic and meant no disrespect. The only movies i've noticed that you thought highly of this year were just the town and this one right here lol. I am glad that you responded to my comment though :)
For those of you who have seen it... if you could only nominate one person for Best supporting Actor, who would it be? Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, or Arnie Hammer?
I really did like this, but to call this an oscar worthy movie is a little too much. It's a decent drama with earnest effort but nothing worth writting home to mom & dad about.
The two best films of 2010 were Inception and the Social Network. Both deserved the Oscar over The King's Speech.

Great review Richard, it is one of the best films of 2010. A total Oscar contender, Fincher's direction is flawless. A brilliant film.
