  • Wherever you go you will find people lying to you, and as your awareness grows, you will notice that you also lie to yourself. Do not expect people to tell you the truth because they also lie to themselves. You have to trust yourself and choose to believe and not to believe what someone says to you. When we really see other people as they are without taking anything personally, we can never be hurt by what they say or what they do.

  • @WinkingOwl1 Hey that's some great general advice for life :)

  • I ADORE THIS SONG. If I ever have the fortune of being in a band again, I will ask that we do a cover of this.

  • "don't stop give me more yeah hu-uu-uuhhh......"

  • Thank you SO very much for this video. I ADORE this song and loved hearing it every time I saw "Pretty In Pink." Now I can hear this great song any time and watch my favorite clips from the movie! AWESOME!

  • @OleSc76 You're welcome! enjoy it !

  • My dad's cousin is the Bass player for The Rave-Ups. I got to see them play again for the first time last year and they got 3 encores. Pretty awesome :)

  • The songs not included on the soundtrack are better songs than those on the sound track....

So here I am years later watching Pretty in Pink for probably the 10th time, went searching and here it is! Amazing classic alternative! Can't wait to see what other gems loparto has for me!

  • Cool song. It reminds me of David Bowie singing "Golden Years".

It has a 60s quality to it too. Their name reminds me of The Yardbirds album "Having a Rave UP with the Yardbirds".

Too bad it was not including with the songtrack. Thanks for posting.

  • In 1987 I drove into Dallas with this song on the radio. It was one of my obscure favorites. 2 mos later I left Dallas and this song was on again. Last I heard it was probably 1990. Since then I couldnt recall the name, tune or the band. Still the memory of blasting out of Dallas listening to this song haunted me from time-to-time. Then today laying in bed about 4:30 AM, some lyrics and tune came to me in my sleep. Got up and searched online. BINGO. I guess it didnt lose me

  • @KentarEast Hey man ! That's a signal ! You're really wired to the Rave-Ups !

  • the best ban that never was....I loved them, still got'm

  • i love this song for some reason....its funky...

  • I'm stuck in the 80's and dont wanna catch up with the rest of the world.

  • I just watched this movie, 20-some years later and this song was the thing that stood out the most out of the entire movie. I have been trying to figure out who that band was!!! I loved this song back in the 80's...great band.

  • I love them!!! Been years!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can actually buy this song on iTunes, believe it or not. I remember the 90s when we had to hunt this CD down at indie record stores, like I did. The entire Town and Country album is on there. Great song. Played it on Dallas radio in the late 90s and folks loved it! Great movie, too.

  • my dad was in the rave ups for like 5 years ha ha yours waseent

  • OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • I've been looking for this band forever! my favorite songs from the movie were the band playing in the club, but they aren't on the soundtrack which really bummed me out. This has made my week; thank you so much for posting!!

  • Cool song.

  • Oooh thanks for the post!!!

  • i don't know why, but I'm in love with this song, there's just something about it...

  • The album 'Town and Country' isn't so mythical, it's just hard to come by...i've been looking for it on cd, no luck..i had it on cassette and wore it out from playing it over and over, even before Pretty In Pink came out...

  • Duckie looks like shit these days

  • but wouldnt it be creepy if he has the same fresh face at say what 40 years old. i know the difference can be drastic but some people dont age as well and they dont have facials or the prerequisite bone structure or plastic surgery.

  • @bigbore458 LOL.

  • I want this song as my ringtone, anyone know where I could find it?

  • Try going to Tube2tone and you can make it into one.

  • Wohoooo love the song

  • The beginning of the song made me rememeber another song of the '80...Love and Rockets...

  • ...so alive

  • thanks for uploading!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!! I loved (still do) this movie back in the day and was sooooo pissed that this song wasnt on the soundtrack!!!! YAY!! :)

  • @KillingJoke696 One of the biggest craps I've ever seen, the really blew it ! The OMS record is crappy !

    sorry to say it.

  • The Rave-Ups were so overlooked! They were awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • For real. I love this band.

  • Man, what a great f'ing song.

I wore the tracks down on Town and Country.

Just clicked on the myspace link.

    Thank you for sharing everyone!

    Really, Thank You!

  • FINALLY, I love this song and think it should have been on the soundtrack. The lyrics are awesome!!!!

  • These guys should totally have made the soundtrack to Pretty in Pink! They're awesome!! Did the producers (or whoever ever) screw up the soundtrack to that movie! It could have been soooo good!

  • love this song. wish I was working in that club .

  • Dont you love technology, in San Fransico in 1995, found Chance, hoping this song would be on it. The sales guy I bought, asked him about song from Pretty in Pink he knew it. I was heading back to Aus next day gave him $10 to send it too me,never happened.

Now all these years later Loparto whacks it on YT. Have never heard this song in its entirity until today, ta Loparto.

They dont make movies like this anymore. "You lost alot when you lost me six paperback books and a dimetree" priceless!

  • Does anyone know where I can buy their album "Town & Country"?

  • I'm afraid you can't. It's out of print long ago.

Try some used copy on the internet.

    SY

  • I have all of their albums. My band "Social Fact" were signed to the same label in 1985 and we rehearsed and recorded in the same studio. the label was Fun Stuff Records. All their CD's are out of print but I have every one of them. They were friends of ours. I wish they would reform. Jimmer Podrasky (the singer/rhythm guitarist) was married to Molly Ringwald's sister, Beth. They have one child and have long since divorced.

  • LP Records are available on Amazon

  • We just put them up on Rhapsody for download, and they should also be on itunes within the next week, just waiting for it to be processed. I believe you can order a physical copy of the cd from rhapsody as well.

  • @heliumxheels I got my copy after trolling Amazon marketplace for a few months for it. It cost me an arm and a leg, though. I think I paid $30 but that was for the very hard to find CD. Definitely a collector's item. If you can find it, buy it! :)

  • Holy Crap! The Rave-Ups. One of the great forgotten bands of that era. Chance and Book of Your Regrets are both awesome albums. If memory serves, wasn't it Molly Ringwald who turned John Hughes on to this band?

  • Yes . It was her ! In fact she showed a folder in "Sixteen Candles" with "The Rave-Ups" written on it. Their appearance on Pretty in Pink was by Molly's request. Ah! and Jimmer Podrasky picked up Molly's sister .

  • yeah i saw that on her binder too!

  • You too,

  • Couldn't sleep last night so dusted off Pretty in Pink DVD and watched it. Forgot all about this song. I was still quite young when it came out, and my parents got tired of me watching it and listening to the music over and over.....lol....

  • Excellent video....Those of us who grew up in the early 80's know , we had the best movies music and video...Also we had MTV when it played good stuff like this!!! Long live the 80's!!

  • Great comment Caldm! I really lived all those moments. I was 19 and a senior at H.School when this movie was released, I liked (then and now) those music, videos and movies, such as you said, the best stuff ever ! This movie is an accurate idea of what a HS and his people are like, as much in the States as here in Spain.

    Those were the days !

  • LOVE this song.

  • I Love This Song!!!!!

  • The Golden Age of Aqua Net and Studio Line by Loreal

  • What a tune!! :) LOVE The Rave-Ups!!!

  • How did this song didn't get on the soundtrack? Best song in the film.

  • I had to buy "Totally Awesome New Wave Hits of the 80's" Volume 22 to get this song on CD

  • Comment removed

  • Six days later, still listening. I'll let you know when I stop listening. I've heard it like 1720 times now!!!!

  • Hey man, you're finally gonna be fed up with the song. Why don't you try any other Rave-Ups tune?.

Anyway, enjoy it in the meantime .

  • Okay. Good idea.

  • hey, are you still listening to the song? how many times have you listened this song now?

  • Nah. I was only kidding about that. It is a great song though.

  • oh haha. =)

  • Now I can't stop listening to it.

  • This is so weird....I've always wondered about this song. Thanks for posting it!!!!!!

  • "Blaine?....Blaine?! That's the name of a major appliance not a guy!"

  • ha ha

  • I SOOOOOO would have hooked up with Duckie!!!

  • This song is a hundred times better than anything out there right now.

  • Andie should have picked Duckie

  • good song

  • FAB song ;^)

  • absolutely... 15 years??? much longer... I am old enough to have loved them when this came out... the album has been unavailable for so long and I would buy it in a heartbeat if they re-released it now... I have the vinyl version from when it was released, but I need it digital xx

  • As above - been looking for this forever - tks.
