I know that it's easy to take this snake oil salesman at his word instead of doing some research on his claim that 89% of AFP's money came from individuals. Who are these individuals...are they terrorists? We don't know, and why is that? Do any proponents of AFP know? Probably not. Google David Koch and there's part of the answer. Interesting that the Koch name comes up an awful lot when it comes to political issues and candidates....maybe they're just concerned citizens...maybe, but not likely.
Hate to say it but Americans are the dumbest people on earth. They prefer to listen to scaremongers working for corporations who's only interest is to profit from healthcare by charging exhorbitant rates for coverage and then denying that same coverage, than to people who are trying to HELP THEM stay healthy and alive without going bankrupt. Americans the world is laughing AT you!!!
Corporate funded lobbyiest pretending to be a grass roots movement and suckering the christisn right to back corporate interests. Welcome to the new America. Deciet based politics.
Why are Maddows not interested in the issues? Because the liberal tactic is to deflect attention from the issues and the arguments by undercutting the credibility of and psychologizing the proponents of those arguments.
@maganz Without agreeing to what you just said, aren't the credibility of arguments extremely important to their validity? Exactly what 'attention from the issues' are you referring to?
@pepperleg The issues of the Tea Party movement. Their views and arguments.
You have to distinguish between credibillity of an argument and the creditbility of any proponent of it. The intellectually corrupting strategy of bigotted media democrats and other political mass media manipulators and masters of eristics, is to deflect attention away from those views and arguments of their critics, by poisoning the well and smearing the proponets of those views and arguments.
Tim Phillips is what I like to think of as a "corporate condom". He works to protect them, while keeping them from the messiness that occurs while they screw you. AND, he does it using uninformed citizen groups to hold you down during the rape.
Maddow and Phillips never actually talk about the health care bill. Maddow can't attack the issue, so she just attacks the man. Its called "Argumentum ad Hominem," and the GOP does it just as much as statists like Maddow.
Just as Maddow is foolish for distracting the argument in this way, Phillips is wrong for entertaining her for so long... he should have just shot her down and talked about the important issue at hand.
Wow. Wow. That guy has a dark soul. His strategy is obvious. Just keep smiling and one-upping. You say I give head to corporations, I smile and say I give them rim jobs too. I bet used car salespeople have altars of him they worship. Wow.

Nice try Rachel. Unfortunately the truth is a pesky impediment to the liberal slander. Your rhetoric just doesn't stick when your victims appear live on the show. You are much more convincing when talking to yourself.
Well, I can't stand Bill Maher -- he's become a little too arrogant for me and to ready to insult people on personal level rather than sticking to the facts. Have you seen Ari Melber at work? He was amazing for how he doggedly pins his opponents down to the facts of the matter rather than letting them get away with glib talking points that mean nothing. He should have his own show (and no, I'm not his mother, lol)
Just this past week, while interviewing Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), she went on and on about him referring to the holocaust in relations to how Americans are losing their lives and family members because of the poor health care coverage. Instead of focusing on the entire address to congress, she kept harping on one particular word. Hence between 9:01-9:10, she allowed this weasel to call her out as asking "gotcha questions". Go on the attack Rachel! Stop reacting to what these clowns say.
"fantastic"?! lol hmmm I think you have some issues. This character was exposed over and over again by this clever Rachel. But I guess it went over your head. This guy is nothing but a deceitful scumbag lobbyist ( a used car salesman)using idiots like you to serve his employers: insurance companies that will discontinue your healthcare coverage in a heart beat if their profit is undermined. Also, pls, don't use "God" in your claims. That's hypocritical.
@Zodiac266 He was not exposed at all! He stated that his funding is 89% private. He also stated that Obamacare is financed and part drawn up by the healthcare companies (where is the protest from Maddow on this). On Eric Cantor, they are friends and they are campaigning together. Maddow's tactics are called the 'red hering fallacy'. Look it up.
She couldn't bear the "conflict of interest with Tim's corporate sponsors"? Let's see MSNBC is owned by GE who has a vested interest in universal healthcare because of their position as the leader in electronic medical records. No conflict there!
What a slick slimy man this is. People like him are the ones ruining our country and our democracy. Rachel, you go girl...keep up your great investigative work and keep exposing these people for who they really are!!
A nice "civil" debate. Tim won by sticking to the issue at hand. We can contain healthcare costs through private industry, tort reform and competition.
While she was trying all sorts of "gotcha" accusations, I appreciate that she allowed a well spoken person with an opposite view on. He held his own and made his points well. Thank you Rachel for some balance.
I definitely think she was playing "gotcha" politics. When she couldn't brand the town hall protests as paid shills of the insurance companies, she whipped out the race card and implied that Tim Phillips was somehow connected to anti-semitism.
It's an old tactic of the left -especially among Jewish leftists like Maddow. They encourage and promote racial solidarity among minorities while simultaneously demonizing racial solidarity among the white majority.
maybe liberals ought to be fighting right-wing astroturf with left-wing astroturf. As for anti-Semitism, I'm not sure how antisemitism relates to right wing astroturf.
It's great to know that the folks that are rallying against the Public Health Plan are not a grass roots movements but employees of Americans for Prosperity or Patients First

I don't think thats at all what she was getting at. She was arguing that they were misrepresenting themselves on their website as being just "regular people" when in fact they are mouthpieces for corporate interests. If they just came out and said "I speak for the health insurance industry" or "I shill for big oil" there wouldn't really be a conflict.
Yah, yup, gotta go to the right sources, like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.
Blow it out your ass, everybody is bias, everybody is bought in some way.
But what is at stake in the healthcare debate is having your wallet and very health raped to death by private corporations, or being provided a wider variety of options and choices.
And, of course, sometimes we are helpless. So, have to pray for a less painful death. If this were 100 years ago, most of us would be dead by now. say your prayers
You don't believe that this plan will increase competition do you?
The gov't will drive competition away because they're not afraid of making losses, as they can cover them with taxpayers money. This is a trojan horse for a single payer system.
You also have to understand the reasons that prices are so high; it's because of gov't fixing prices and subsidizing the insurance industry. If they weren't involved at all, prices would be so much lower.
