You lucky girl you have a pet crow :P I always found them really cute, while my friends thought I was a bit crazy in the head. I'm currently searching where I could have one, and it's pretty difficult right now.
@dearmom992 u do relise its a crow? they eat human food from garbage bins so obviously this crow would b eating much better than a wild 1 so it would b far more healthy and im sure she would find out how much it needs to b fed cuz its clear that she loves it and wants it to b healthy and happy.
that is awesome that you have a crow as a pet. his personality is not what i thought a crow would be like. He seems like a big baby. :) how did you get him?
wow, you really need 2 get his nails cliped. he could step on 1 the wrong way and break his toe. Also... i like this vid because my budgie is named cheeko
codaanderson: This was an old video when marielledelaine uploaded it, as she notes in the video info. In another video, she mentions that Cheeko now has his nails clipped regularly.
I have to commend you on the lack of bird poo on the chairs :D. I live in a house with a couple birds and know firsthand that it doesnt take long for the infamous poo to cover all.
yes YOU have a problem you sick freak... i hope one day you get what you deserve... your probably all talk.. by the way kid no one likes a dick... so stop being one. i bet you are trying to look bad ass on the internet because you dont have any friends at school... loser.. by the way its your fault bad things happen between your parents... lmao.
@bananatree94, what's the problem with saving a crow. This gal obviously did her homework and it has benefitted the crow greatly. Now if you had done a little reading before you posted, you would know that.
@ingkeu OMG maybe if YOU did research before you reply to a comment YOU would know i was talking to someone who was saying they wanted to kill this crow! NOT THE OWNER! lmao you were trying to be a smart ass with me and it only made you look unobservant! this person did a great thing..
i remember when i lived in wales and i had a pet crow..i used have to stay at home 24/7 to feed him but when he was older we could just leave him out and he would fly off and then randomly appear back at different times..he used to follow me to school as well.
you look like you're doinga good job, he seems pretty friendly and healthy.
i dont understand why people are getting so aggressive about though? you saved this animals life and theyre talking like you torture him! honestly people need to get a grip!
the wildlife rehab centre that we took him too told us what to feed him, and we listened to that. he looks better now. this video is clearly really old (read the date on it). cheeko is almost 3 now and his wings are in and he is alive and well and happy and goes outside and plays with the cat and eats better than crows in the wild.
That bird's wings do NOT look clipped. If any of you out there had ever owned a bird you would know that!
I had a parrot that used to climb on my hand and beat her wings just like that and she could've flown away if she wanted to!
If he were trying to fly he'd've either jumped off and succeeded or flopped around on the floor in a ig feathered mess. All of you 'animal lovers' out there need to shut it cuz you don't know what you're talking about!
@Wolfmammy it could be only the shadow's effect but it seems she is moving her arm a litle up and down... probably the bird moving his wings is just to adquire balance... i think.

let him fly free marielle...he has a purpose. don't get his wings clipped anymore. he'll still come back and you can feed him. see my clip. they deserve to fly! wish i could.
they aren't clipped. he is unable to fly, he is also almost 3 and quite happy and doesn't look like this anymore because this video is really old. his wings grew in a few months after this.
Since you seem to have lots and lots of fans :P maybe you should explain that they poo a LOT and tear everything apart, including very expensive things and they beed lots and lots of attension before half of Canada's got on.. :#
Besides, theres a pretty good Dutch site about Jackdaws (dont live in Canada, smaller then a crow and grey) but it's in Dutch and I dont think I may call it here,, if you want to know I could send it to you..
He's awesome! Do you think you could make a video with more information on crows and how you ended up with him and how you care for him? I'd love to learn more!
he would have died if i didnt come along and now if we let him go he wouldnt be able to survive. he thinks he is one of us... it would be like letting your child go.
in home he gets a safe environment with great food, he dont need to "struggle" and he will live much longer then in the wild. did you have/had a dog or a cat? would you throw your dog/cat to the street? of course not. so why should she throw her crow?
You cannot compare cats and dogs, domesticated animals who have relied on humans for survival for thousands of years, to crows. However, you do make a point when you say he doesn't need to struggle... at the same time, doggysrule made a point in saying they belong in their natural habitat. Crows require very specific requirements to properly live with people, not to mention the the strains its instincts put on the lives of normal people (such as their love of hoarding objects).
Bottom line: if the owner is capable of adapting her life in order to make this crow's life good, and I think she can, as she seems like a loving owner, then go ahead. Otherwise release would be the best thing to do.
By the way, its illegal for Americans to own native songbirds, crows included. I dunno if this is an example of a loophole or what, but...
are you kidding, cats? my uncle is breeding cats, they are territorial predators that really don't need us to survive. a lot of the cats species such as Bengal, Manx, Egyptian Mau ,Siberian and i wouldn't recommend Turkish Angora are really hostile and unsuitable for home environment. cats (especially species such as sphinx and Persian) have more "special needs" then to a crow. no offence, but you Americans have ALLOT of stupid laws. Alabamas REAL law: Dominoes may not be played on Sunday ;)
thankyou! im not the only owner. my parents and little brother take care of him as well, and he has a kitten (they are best friends) so he is really happy. we definately have to put up with a lot of poop... and yes... he likes to hide gmes from the playstation on us a lot. but he is such a joy he makes every single day interesting.
He is a very fortunate and happy bird. We had one for years. He was the most loving bird I have ever had. Same situation, he must have fallen out of the nest. We had him a few days before he was one of the family.
you shouldnt try to get one unless you KNOW you can put up with the poop and having one run around the house without a cage. i saved cheeko from the side of the road. but he is a GREAT pet if you have a lot of people in the house. very social like a dog.
hiya i heard that if you have a pet crow they are loyal but eventually get fed up and try to kill themselves or is that just if you cage them? does he get to fly outside at all. hes lovely, i have an african grey he doesnt shut up lol.
AHHH sooo cute. One day i found a baby humming bird it already had all of its feathers but it couldnt fly. Actually I have a pet crow also and the tail feather are really short or non existent when they are babies or really young. It's likely their tail feathers grow longer as they get older and more mature.
omg i love crows! i'm a u.s. citizen in california, and i would really love to have a pet crow. but it's illegal. marielle, how where you able to keep ckeeko? by the way, he's cute!
lol I have a mouse too! Her names Isis and she's a cutie pie! It's the ones that POOP IN MY BED and EAT MY CHOCOLATE that I'm less partial to. They get their come upins!!! Don't worry- I'm very compassionate towards animals and they're killed instantaneously with mouse traps. I couldn't ever feed them ALIVE! It could also harm the animal you give it to by biting it back! lol.
well... it WAS live before I killed it... I thought it was an ingenuitive way of getting rid of the mice I caught in mouse traps. Circle of life :) Boy did she love them though! She'd never had anything live except mealworms and bugs out the garden. She ripped right into their guts and pulled out the nutricious intestines! It was interesting to be able to watch so closely...
I rescued and rehibilitated a baby Raven a few months ago and successfully released her. I never thought she could fly or live in the wild but she sure showed me! Chiko is so cute! Your so lucky to have him so tame. My girl lives in my front yard while I helped her learn to forage, brave the weather, interact with wild birds and get sunshine/fresh air. Corvids benefit from mind games and toys. I gave Morrigan a mouse once which she LOVED TO DEATH!
lol so far we have gotten him a little mirror with bells on it, and this keychainish thing with dice on it and other stuff... but his favorite thing to do is chase the cat and play with a dead remote controll we only keep cause he likes to push the buttons
thanks for the "not intended for owner" part lol i was beginning to be a bit scared. cheeko is past hsi 8 weeks stage and still cant "fly" but he does something like it! and he is not caged, which means we need someone at the house mostly at all times to clean up and make sure he doesnt get in to trouble!
Hi, I LOVE THE CROW.. I created a character/ghoul for Fright Fest halloween 2007 and the character has a pet crow or raven in the design. Very hard to find pet crows or crows that perform or can be used in this venue. Please let me know if have any info or a group that protects the rights of animals but also making sure the animals are not abused. thankyou gus
yes indeed that is waht i do. he used to be completely free but since we moved we need to take better care of this place, and he just destroys everything
I've raised birds for many years; my avian vet. told me they need a variety of toys for mental development and stimulation. Just a suggestion, as an extra to the care and love he is already getting.....
How did you come to have a crow? Out here the most one can ever do is house an injured one as we did once, but that's it - I thought it was illegal. Do you need a license? Where do you get such animal for a pet?
yeah he cant just eat any old birdseeds, and he needs constant attention or he will literally tear the house apart. we just moved so we bought him a parrot cage (he used to never be caged) but we dont want him to wreck this house. i dont think that parrots wreck houses tho
haha yeah were in the middle of moving right now but in our next house we will have a special little place for him with some real bird stuff.. his talons used to be longer and curl under! they have definately improved since then
ooh thankyou i saw that! how exciting! i hope i can get some more up :( i need to use a friend's internet cause we are moving so we don't have it at the moment till i have no idea when!
Hi Marielle, I only want to thank you for share this videos, are incredible. I have never thought that Ravens and Magpies could establish any akind of rellashionship with the humans.
I hope you don't take offence to this but it would be a good idea to trim his nail before he gets any problems in his feet which will prevent proper walking. But other than that his a sweety!
Oh you can cheeck out Marvin (my pain in the ass LOL) if ya want on my page! :)
well on his first vid i explain everything "my pet crow"
basically we were stopped at a stop light and there he was on the side of the road, fallen out of his nest and was too young to survive, so we took him.
we already had a crow before so we knew not to take it into the wildlife sanctuary because they have told us the other animals would just kill it, so we kept him
Cant you potty train crows? I heard that somewhere.. And does he come back when you let him go outside?

Don't worry- I'm very compassionate towards animals and they're killed instantaneously with mouse traps. I couldn't ever feed them ALIVE! It could also harm the animal you give it to by biting it back! lol.

well... it WAS live before I killed it... I thought it was an ingenuitive way of getting rid of the mice I caught in mouse traps. Circle of life :) Boy did she love them though! She'd never had anything live except mealworms and bugs out the garden. She ripped right into their guts and pulled out the nutricious intestines! It was interesting to be able to watch so closely...

haha i would never be able to kill a mouse, i keep them as pets. they are so damn adorable.

I gave Morrigan a mouse once which she LOVED TO DEATH!

ohhhh god.... do you mean litteraly?
was this a LIVE mouse?

He's a handsome bird, but aren't you afraid that one day he might get ornery and take your eye out? That beak looks sharp.

lol so far we have gotten him a little mirror with bells on it, and this keychainish thing with dice on it and other stuff... but his favorite thing to do is chase the cat and play with a dead remote controll we only keep cause he likes to push the buttons
marielledelaine 4 years ago
i use the calcium perch in his cage but other than that he doesnt really stay in the cage, he likes to walk around and stand on the back of the couch

BabyShugz 4 years ago
thanks for the "not intended for owner" part lol i was beginning to be a bit scared. cheeko is past hsi 8 weeks stage and still cant "fly" but he does something like it! and he is not caged, which means we need someone at the house mostly at all times to clean up and make sure he doesnt get in to trouble!

Did you kill Cheeko's parents and then nurse him? Why can't he do any tricks? Have you ever tried to light Cheeko on fire? That would be soooo kewl.
ronnyb1968 4 years ago
uhhhh
he fell out of the nest as a baby and his parents were nowhere to be seen. baby crows cant get back in to the nest.
and no why the hell would i light him on fire?

Hi, I LOVE THE CROW.. I created a character/ghoul for Fright Fest halloween 2007 and the character has a pet crow or raven in the design. Very hard to find pet crows or crows that perform or can be used in this venue. Please let me know if have any info or a group that protects the rights of animals but also making sure the animals are not abused. thankyou gus
gusbraden 4 years ago
hi there... im sorry to say that i know of no such groups... cheeko is not a perfomer he is just a chill birdy. =(
marielledelaine 4 years ago
yes indeed that is waht i do. he used to be completely free but since we moved we need to take better care of this place, and he just destroys everything
marielledelaine 4 years ago
I've raised birds for many years; my avian vet. told me they need a variety of toys for mental development and stimulation. Just a suggestion, as an extra to the care and love he is already getting.....
meriprem 4 years ago
dont worry, he gets his toys in the form of everything in our house

How did you come to have a crow? Out here the most one can ever do is house an injured one as we did once, but that's it - I thought it was illegal. Do you need a license? Where do you get such animal for a pet?
6327isc 4 years ago
as far as i know, it is legal in canada.
marielledelaine 4 years ago
yeah he cant just eat any old birdseeds, and he needs constant attention or he will literally tear the house apart. we just moved so we bought him a parrot cage (he used to never be caged) but we dont want him to wreck this house. i dont think that parrots wreck houses tho

marielledelaine 4 years ago
nah sandpaper can cause their delicate toes to bleeeed. learnt that the hard way with some budgies XP
myroosterwilleatyou 4 years ago
well that might be true for budgies.... but crow talons are a little bit stronger! lol
but yeah, i like the calcium perches from the pet store, they work fine....
marielledelaine 4 years ago
Hi chicken lol!He really needs a natural perch to wear down his LONG TALONS....
Love him to death but!
maybe some sand paper on the unnatural perches will help. : )
6BlackRavens 4 years ago
haha yeah were in the middle of moving right now but in our next house we will have a special little place for him with some real bird stuff.. his talons used to be longer and curl under! they have definately improved since then
lol thanks for the comment

Hey Marielle,
I hope you don't take offence to this but it would be a good idea to trim his nail before he gets any problems in his feet which will prevent proper walking. But other than that his a sweety!
Oh you can cheeck out Marvin (my pain in the ass LOL) if ya want on my page! :)

ThunderAppeal 4 years ago
lol we clean up after him ALLLL day!!!
marielledelaine 4 years ago
how'd you get him? i'd love to have one =))
katluver005 4 years ago
well on his first vid i explain everything "my pet crow"
basically we were stopped at a stop light and there he was on the side of the road, fallen out of his nest and was too young to survive, so we took him.
we already had a crow before so we knew not to take it into the wildlife sanctuary because they have told us the other animals would just kill it, so we kept him
marielledelaine 4 years ago
crows are awesome.
