my only concern is where the PCI slot is, my PC will be wireless and I wanna be sure I can run triple sli and use my wireless adapter. So I wanna be sure there's a big enough gap between the bottom two PCI Express X16 slots. If anyone has this board, will you please let me know if there's enough room?
Uh yea...after making that comment I did some more looking and more digging and realized there isn't enough slots for it. I am looking for a board I won't have to replace when I got my third video card for the triple SLI, and I found that board, but thanks for the response.
@utubienut The LGA1156 CPUs, the i3, i5, and the 8xx series i7's don't run as hot as the LGA1366 CPU's, and don't need as hardcore a cooler. If you've got a really great CPU cooler, but it's old enough that it doesn't natively support the 1156 socket and the manufacturer doesn't make 1156 brackets to update it, the 775 holes on the board give you the option of using that cooler without making any modifications. It doesn't look like they line up real well, so your cooler may be crooked.
@TheMRamstaff He meant your not used to seeing a heatsink where that monster is right by the PCI-e x1 slot is because there's not usually a chip there (northbridge, southbridge, etc) but on these boards they add the nf200 chip to give you more x16 lanes. Which is why there is a monster heatsink in a spot where there wouldn't normally be on a p55 board
@LP64071 Not a noob one, at least. Well the different between X8 and X16 PCI-e 2.0 is not pretty big. Guess u can notice the difference in SLI or Crossfire mode
yes it will run sli and crossfire at x16 if you watched the video and listened properly you would have hear him explaining that this board has the nf200 chip on it which makes more than double the previous p55 pci bandwith. as all other p55 boards without this chip only has a enough bandwidth for x16 or when using 2x pcie x8 x8!!!
@edge160 There's also some enthusiasts out there, such as myself, that aren't very experienced with overclocking, but want the big graphics power that something like this board provides. With the Dummy OC features, it gives those of us that are less experienced with it a chance to play with it.
@edge160 Maybe...its not for noobs, but if you already have a power-rig ..maybe you're building something for your wife/son/daughter/grandparents etc, and you don't feel like blowing the fucking thing up, just turn on dummy O.C. :D
Not really. Alot of high end users tend to have more then one high end computer at a time (I myself usually have 2-3) so if they already have done a few X58 builds they might pop over to check out P55 and they will want triple sli/ tir-fire.
I will likely be building one myself next year after I finish the X58 build I have going. I will likely buy a Hydra board though, so I can run mixed cards.
why do you need 2-3 high end pcs? it costs 2-3x as much which you probably could have better spent on improving the main one i think. or is there some wierd trick i dont know about?
I have my main computer, one that sits folding@home 24/7 as that is something I really believe in doing, and the 3rd is usually something like P55 or a server board....just something new to mess around with.
Since this is my main hobby I like having more then 1 project, some way a painter might work on more then 1 painting or a DJ work on more then one song. Some times you just need something different.
What I don't understand is why EVGA is putting this product out there. Users who want to run triple/quad SLI or Crossfire setups are generally going to skip to LGA1366 motherboards to begin with. They also aren't going to hassle with Lynnfield cpus when Bloomfield is the 'performance' class. Unless EVGA is just aiming for market coverage in all areas, I don't see much potential for this and the regular P55 200 motherboard.
Depends on the company for each part. Almost all parts are overclocker friendly now days so as long as you don't fry something but giving it to much voltage they don't care. Just read the warranty and make sure to get parts from overclocking friendly company (which most are now days).
Quick quieston. There are four pci x16 slots, and as far as i knew if you ran tri-sli the third card would become a physics card. SO why is there a need to run three video cards and a physx card? Or is there an option to use the the video cards as video cards and just use the fourth slot for physx with a physx card? Please help me in my gray area here.
I'm still unsure about whether I should just go for the Q9550 or completely change my rig, get the X58 and the the i7 920, simply because it's Socket 1366 and the i9 will also be Socket 1366.
Well, the only applications that benefit from a i7 are photo-/videoedeting and other professionel stuff. In games you might not see any difference at all. Thats a fact.
And by the way: In case your not a super-overclocker that pushes his i7 towards 5 MHz oder more, buying a i7-965 is pretty the dumbest thing to do, cause you can push a i7-920 to 4,0 - 4,4 GHz as well, for a waaayyy lower price. Proves, that you're a noob :D
the board looks sweet but 3 graphic cards is overkill in my opinionive seen tests with 2 cards and 3 cards and just barely the 3 cards won with just 5 to 10 fps.but who is hardcore go for it anyway i would be happy even with ine good card cuz im not playing on super high settings.

@Saberoph If you do triple SLI with dual slot cards, the only slot that will be open is the pcie x1 slot at the top.

Yeah, its cuz of the 200 chip
it makes it Croffire or SLI compatible

well its the nforce chip.. which confuses me. why would nvidia produce a chip that is compatible w/ ati?

Its all about client base. They don't care if a user uses ATI or NVIDIA as long as they buy the board.

It's not the nvidia200 chip that makes it Xfire or SLI compatible, as the P55 FTW also has this capability
an additional nf200 chip allows more PCI-E bus or one more graphics card to work with the board
