This song has been playing in my head for the past 3 days, and I couldn't remember who sang it!! So just "Googled" it! Thanks very much for uploading this oldie.
At the age of 11, I saw the film that this odd song appeared in, which was released in the USA as "Go-Go Mania". I first had to sit through "Fun In Acapulco" starring Elvis, as part of a double bill. And yes, this was in a movie theater.
Some of the British performers in this movie were familiar in America, but this peculiar song definitely was not. I well remember wondering what the heck this was supposed to be about. I mean, I knew it was about a fish, but it still was weird.
This song was called "Google Eye'' not ''Google Eyes''. It was issued in England as a single 45 RPM phonograph record. it charted on the British music charts.
The "short" singer is Ray Philips - he's still rockin with a newer version of The Nashville Teens. He has an awesome version of LIttle Bird search youtube for ARay Phillips & Zalatnay Sarolta - Little bird
This video (film) was part of an incredible movie I used to catch with relative regularity on IFC or Sundance about 2 years ago called "Top Gear" and the various clips were introed by the guy who was the host of Top of the Pops for 100 years. This song, The Animals, Peter & Gordon, The Four Pennies and a whole slew of other stupendous bands of the day appeared - it seems as though you've posted at least all the high points, nyrainbow. Thank you VERY much - nice to have them here and available!
At that time (May 1965), the radio station that served the area where I was living in the midwest (WKNR Keener 13) played both the Marianne Faithful and Nashville Teens versions of "This Little Bird". It peaked at #11 on their charts.
Quite the RAVE UP and a heck of a hullabaloo, nyrainbow 5 thanks for the upload,( by all means thanks for both sharing and caring) The Nashville Teens were rockin' jammers for sure! And this great tune got lost in the Great British Invasion shuffle, unfortunately for most folks anyway, but being the collector for and of the obscure I dug the heck out of this! I especially liked the guitar break, the 88's being pounded and the vocals were harmonious, so thanks Y T & Rock on Shiniggers WORLDWIDE!!
Thanks for posting this great one! It seemed to have disappeared from YouTube for awhile, so I'm happy to see it is back--and this is the unedited clip, correct? I saw another about a year ago that (I think?) had a different beginning.
This was a featured track on their debut American LP on London Records, but it didn't go anywhere in the US. The Nashville Teens pretty much began and ended in the US with "Tobacco Road".
Actually they did very well in 1965 with "This Little Bird", competing with Marianne Faithfull's version during that May and June. Their "Find My Way Back Home" also got some airplay and was eventually covered by the Easybeats.
"Tobacco Road" was the end of them in New England. I never heard anything on the radio of theirs after that - and I was an addicted listener/buyer back then. After 1964, nothing. Faithful's "This Little Bird" was 1965, wasn't it?

The guy on his left singing looks very unsure of himself.

The short singer kind of looks like Roger Daltry of the Who.
