Then, I screw exactly the same way as he did, like "tsiiiyaaa", but somehow it didnt work (why?), because my hand was broken instead of the ice :( . I have done so many demo like this Ice breaking. If you are able to break one, you can break all. If you break one just push your force down second one will break with little force. weight of two breaks all slab. any one can break those understand this tecnique.

"empty hand" which stands for the fighting without weapons. the reason why they use weapons ALSO is because their whole movement, whole techniques are already trained like that. soto-uke, age-uke...if you look at them, they are nothing but techniques you use with swords and all. just that now your own hands and feet are swords, which is suitable for a real fight and works really well...

What a crap demo, the Bo, (6ft sticks) are set to break easily, The Katana, ( sword) might be sharp but is slow and mundane and the kumite, (free fighting), is the most pathetic, one of the opponents struggles to kick higher than the other opponents thighs. Rubbish.

Actually i am a 3rd dan black belt in shotokan karate. The problem isn't my comments its the demo itself. In other words it's not my fault the demo is crap. whatever the wooden sticks they should not be fixed to break. for excellent carate demos by real experts watch the KUGB demos and the kumite is weak and i'm afraid thats that. The moral: dont show crap demos and expect real martial artists to be impressed.

hmm In a real situation of self defence a Martial Artist knows it's not the style, rather the man. There will always be favouritism towards the style you are used to, especially by those that have never tried any other, remember that shotokan is about 20 times more popular than Kykoshin and try to realise that this is because of how greatly effective this style is.

My final word.

The Ice breaking was very impressive but alas the rest of the demo was not up to this standard. you should never, and I mean never use ready to break wood in a karate demo. otherwise onlookers could ask if the ice is solid, see my point. A demo should show what can be done rather than the impossible. The kumite is what I would call light freefighting, once again good for safe training but i'm afraid not so for demos.
