I have always been really excellent at every single sport (soccer, softball, tennis, etc,) but I have always been quite overweight so when it came to running, pushups, and rope climbing, I was *always* the worst. But always the best at badminton, volleyball, etc.

Stop placating us. In my experience (or lack thereof) women are only interested in athletic men. If you're not one, then as far as women are concerned, you're not human. If you care about beer, sports more beer and fast food you're irresistible to women, but if you sincerely care about a woman she'll just think you're "creepy", you're not even worth sitting through a free meal with. I know that it's not fair, my brothers. But it's true. :(

@JessOnTheRun Being serious for a moment I think you're wrong. There's PLENTY of scope for the modern Beta-male to be attractive to women in a tangible sense. The most prominent skill for modern man (civilization for last 10K yrs) would be some form of tool-making, which Beta-males excel at. The Alpha can be as athletic as he likes; what's that famous line - "God made man. Sam Colt made him equal". Modern living necessitates intelligence and handicraft more than running speed.
@JessOnTheRun Basically provided you have sufficient "internal health" (i.e. the state of your heart/lungs/nervous system) it makes little sense to keep adding musculature to the mix, since there's a diminishing rate of return on the advantages of being big and bulky. In fact, once you introduce tools to the mix, it actually becomes a DISADVANTAGE. Nimbler/agile hands make better tools than bulky skilless hands. Since the attraction of muscle bulk is for "protection" - this is ø'd.
