This is beautiful anime. First episodes might be boring for some, but if you can bear that (and the fact that ending is rushed, thus some of the stories are unfinished) a wonderful world and extremely likable characters are awaiting you. Also note that this in not an action heavy anime, it focuses on characters and their development.

This is based on Fuyumi Ono novels, and proves once again that female authors can create very unique fantasy worlds.

@princessthyemis That's a tough one because I don't think any of the three series/movies are anything like each other. Howl's wasn't like Mononoke and neither of them are like Twelve Kingdoms. My suggestion is, as always, to give it a shot. If it looks interesting then check it out regardless of past preferences! What do you have to lose? :)

@princessthyemis Can't say for sure. One thing I DO know, though, is that you're clearly one helluva stupid bitch to fail to see how vastly superior that Princess Mononoke is over Howl's(which is still a good movie).

@viqichu eugenewoodbury has a very good translation of the conclusion of the Tai arc in which Youko and the others go to rescue him. They also translated the book of short stories [Dreaming of Paradise] that further explores Tai and some of the other, lesser spotlighted kingdoms.

Anyone here know if the movie just end on 45 episode? and is there any sub chapters? I dont think it can just end that way as the tai kingdom mystery yet to discover?

@viqichu Sadly the anime did end there. The novels continued and concluded the Tai arc but the anime never did so. Said novels, however, are only in Japanese and were not released in English. The sixth book, The Shore at Twilight, The Sky at Daybreak, is the one that concludes the Tai arc.

Twelve kingdoms is a great anime, but i wish this trailer would be of some other amazing anime with great storyline. Coz you know... can't get enuff of such fantasy stuff!

Or at least it would be nice to see 5th season based on last novel, which concludes the whole thing ; )

@Soulwhodreams Nope, the song is from the video game called Chrono Cross. It's unrelated to The Twelve Kingdoms. However the Twelve Kingdoms soundtrack is amazing and I would highly recommend it!

Yoko is transported into another world where she learns she is a queen of one of the Twelve Kingdoms. While there she faces many problems some being political and plots against her Kingdom. Then she also faces her own personal problems of being in a strange other world.

Great series, it's a lot better then it sounds.

Wow, this is a really well done trailer of the series. Most of all love the Chrono Cross themed song chosen for the trailer. It fit perfectly. Speaking of CC its a fun game one of my all-time favorites.

No, there's no romance. You can read into things but the Twelve Kingdoms is not an anime series based in romance. There's nothing you could call "canon" anyway.
