  • how do you mount your camera?

  • @xcamaro94x I have a bunch of different rigs. Almost always use the suction cup setups these days.

  • Would love to get this vehicle too.

  • so is 2011 Subaru Forester (non-turbo) faster, or the 2011 Honda CR-V faster when tested with 0 - 60 acceleration? thanks

  • what's the rpm in 4th gear @ 60-70mph? thank you

  • @danibwr I have a '00, but the engine has remained nearly identical until the 2011 model. It's about 2800 at 65, 3000 at 75. You can of course shift into third safely at anything up to 103MPH to pass.

  • For a naturally aspirated Subaru boxer engine, espically in such a light (for a crossover) veichle, i expected a bit more punch.

  • @cameronmci well don't forget it IS AWD :)

  • Wow first gear seems to be a little to short

  • ha real world acceleration..

  • damn subaru...thtat's pretty fast for a 2.5 liter

  • @drippinblood28 no its not

  • @derekjacobsma1 It's 8.5 seconds which really ins't bad. It's actually decent

  • Ha, ha, I tried Forester 2.0, it's accelerating somehow lazy..try Forester Boxer Diesel; now THAT'S a BEAST.

  • 4 Speed??? lol In germany you can only have the normal 5 Speed, a 6 Speed manual, the normal automatic with 5 Gears, and the CVT transmission. But the 09 modell only has the 2 liter Engine wit h150HP and the Boxer Diesel with 150HP and 354NM

  • @ShelbyMustang456789

yea europe gets all the good stuff when it comes to cars, best choices in engines, transmission and even looks....

if a car company wants more sales why dont they offer the same choices to all countries =_=

  • hmm i dont know. But our car are Cheaper in the Us than here. If i would buy an Audi A5 in USa and bring it to germany, its way cheaper than i get it By my Audi Dealership in my Town! and the us cars have bigger engines

  • Engine is great. Transmission, well- HEY SUBARU! IT'S NOT 1988 ANYMORE! Oh well, very good car.

  • @BermudaGreenNox Disclaimer, I'm not a mechanic. My understanding is that these engines are short stroke, large bore, which means that the vast majority of the power is at high RPMs, and those RPMs won't hurt the engine. Therefore, it really wouldn't make sense to have more gears at the same peak output, as it would just shift more and end up out of the power band -all- the time. As you can see in the video, it likes to shift very late. They know their limitations, and 4 gears is perfect IMO.

  • @andycr2048 Finally some qualified opinion on the 4-speed tranny. I never use more than 4 gears in real life.

  • @andycr2048

No, you aren't a mechanic and you have no idea of what you are talking about.

You need to learn what a power band is, and where it comes into play with the EJ25 in this vehicle. The four speed doesn't allow it to operate at maximum efficiency. Subaru does know their limitations. Why do you think Subaru is switching to CVTs in all of their new models which have an INFINITE number of ratios to play with rather than just four?

    Seriously, please do some research.

  • I have the 09/10 X Limited, and it NEVER does that. Ever.

  • @howhowb you shouldn't have gotten 6 thumbs down... you're right, i've heard that it's horrible when accelerating. at 60 mph, put your foot down, the whole car jerks as it changes into second... i've had experience with 4 speed automatics before, they're horrible gearboxes. an automatic needs at least 5.

  • Looks like 10 seconds. Not bad..........

  • A four speed automatic on a vehicle like this is embarassing.

  • @sleeksilver yeah but they are really good for off roading and stuff. and for stuff like snow and we like 4 speed autos for driving up and down the mountain. so its not like going up a hill *shift* a little steeper *shift* a little less steep *shift* straight *shift shift shift* hills again. more and more and more of this is hard on ones bottom and neck. lol

  • @highdeserthater

No, they are not. More ratios is always better because you could potentially have a lower first (numerically higher) first gear. Have a better numerical spread allows for optimized ratios.

A properly programmed transmission shouldn't hunt for gears on inclines no matter how many gears it has, be it four or eight.

  • @highdeserthater right on the money, 4 speeds rock!

  • @Nickgarage yeah! standard 4 on the floor or a 5 speed is still better. lol

  • @highdeserthater true that!

  • @sleeksilver Yeah well a CVT isn't much better... That is Subaru's new thing. Hasn't hit the Forester.. yet. I wish they would have done a 5 or 6 speed automatic instead of a CVT.

  • @sleeksilver Good for gravel though.

  • Check out all the people who have had spun bearings on their '09s and the head gasket issues on the earlier 2.5s.

    Not reliable.

  • Hey Dan,

Are you going to be able to do a test on the new 2010 Subaru Outback or Legacy anytime?

  • They're both on the To Do list ... hopefully sometime this winter ...

  • Awesome!

  • great boxer sound

  • I'd snag that for my Beetle in an instant, that engine. I hope some idiot totals it right out of the gate so I can couple it with a manual and fly like a bird.

    Or a flying cockroach.

  • Wow. The Turbo makes an astounding difference. DUH LOL

  • it doesn't have turbo, right?

  • Yep. This one does not have a turbo.

  • one of our friends got one and its not a sports car but has get up and go also handles quite well having 4wd, its also fun to drive

  • not bad at all for a 4-speed auto 4 cylinder. Also looks MUCH sportier and flashier than that old rectangle POS model

  • Gotta love those boxers.

  • with they made a b8 engine and put it in a truck

b8 or h8 whatever its called
