@CCinWheaton I'm pretty sure that this one was a co write between Randy and Keith, with the intention of giving it to the guitar virtuoso of Phil Keaggy.
I absolutly dispies the CCM of today. I miss the Keith Greens' the Rich Mullins'. You dont see anyone like that today its all for show now and the music and lyrics lack meaning. It is good to see that Keaggy is still fresh and I have a feeling that as long as God allowa him he will always be.
I dont know him personally or anything but Phil and his music will always have a special place in my heart!!
@indianajonesfan87 I agree with you. The music doesn't have the heart it used to have. It seems that music is about selling albums and tickets to concerts. It's more about being played on the radio and not as much about seeing souls saved. Keaggy, Stonehill, Petra, Keith Green, Larry Norman and groups from this era are the absolute best. They set the stage for all the wannabes that are out there "performing" instead of singing to reach the lost and the hurting.
I couldnt agree more. The christian music today is so shallow. The best christian music, in my opinion is a lot of the christian music form the 90's. and the old hymns too. now a days, songwriters find a good christian phrase and put it to music and call it a song. thats not music, songs like this one is music, where it goes through different phases in the song. a Ballad. It takes a genius to write songs like that. thats why i like it because i can worship more when thats the case.
Thanks for posting this. I think this is one of the best songs to ever come out of "CCM"... seems to me that a lot of today's "Christian" music has, for lack of a better term, lost a lot of its soul.
"Your Love Broke Through." Written by Keith Green, Todd Fishkind and Randy Stonehill, the song would later be closely identified with Green, yet it was at Green's insistence that Keaggy's rendition be the first released recording.
I just re-bought "Love Beyond Reason" by Randy Stonehill.... it is full of great tracks and, ironically, one on Hatti. Still one of the soundtracks of my life.
Keith showed up at Randy's late at night and said (in the lunatic ranting way that inspiration affects people) "GOD TOLD ME YOU'RE GOING TO HELP ME WRITE THIS AWESOME SONG".
'There is only one way to receive eternal life and one name to believe in to receive salvation.
the name of Jesus Christ . . . Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12
I know Randy wrote this with Keith but I always preferred Keith's version.

I was at this concert, it was at the Wheaton Bible church in West Chicago. The show was great, these guys are awesome together!
Stonehill wrote the song and I think Kieth Green sang it and make it famous.

Randy preformed yesterday at our church and he said that him and Keith wrote this song together in 1976....it is very Keith :)

I also agree about todays CCM.
It was a different time, one that it seems that the current rash of "christian artists" have no idea about.

there are plenty of good Christian bands out there. Stop looking to the record labels and more to the internet to find them.

I hear that. Apparently God likes to keep the good ones for Himself. ;)

Wow, thanks for the history on this! I always considered it a Keith Green song, simply because I heard it first on his album.
Guess I better buy these albums again and read the liner notes.

Nah, relax.
We, the fans, are overjoyed to see Randy Stonehill and Phil Keaggy doing a Keith Green song in 2009.
Keith's no longer with us.
But any time we can hear "Keep Me Running" on YouTube!! and/or "Rejoice", we'll be blessed. 2009 or whenever.

It's an interesting story...
