I learned so much about this from my father, god rest his soul who just passed less thatn a year ago. He come from pink lane and was around all this and always tell me stuff. Wish I didn't take it for granted. I definitely respect studio one. All reggae music derived from this. Yeah man.
Oh wow - I bought all my Studio One from George in Peckings... the first time I walked in (maybe 79?) he was watching an old Muhammad Ali fight on a B/W TV - it was like a 60's time warp. I also got some RnB (I mean original 40's and 50's) bootlegs ;-) off George. What a cool guy he was.
Big up Chris and Duke Peckings who are still representing Coxsone Dodd and Father George Peckings at their legendary shop in Askew road London. See you Brethren's soon!!!
Can never forget George Peckings, a giant in the reggae business and also in the community. We used to go into Peckings as young kids and he always made time for us and treated us with great kidness. Much loved and greatly missed. More power to Chris and the boys in keeping the legacy of the great Sir Peckings alive
It's "Pretty Looks Isn't All" on the Pretty Looks Riddim (strangely) by the Heptones. You can get it from Peckings in Shepherds Bush.....beautiful harmonic classic!!
Just spotted me and my friends walking into the record shop.Big up daddy peking.
Rare footage from ebony programme that use to show on bbc2.
respect to chris peking carring the torch.
