I love Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and I do remember it coming out in theaters. I also thought the ending was bittersweet but powerful.

yeah thats why I like it so much it could've been a typical kids movie with a plastered on happy ending but it stayed true to the feel of Batman and left it with some sore spots for Bruce the final shot of Batman on the roof is one I wont forget.

Mark Hamill still has the best joker voice(no offense to Heath Leder Heath had the best portrayal and acting of the Joker). But man Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker used to always make me wonder why dosen't batman just punch him while he laughs and the answer is that the joker will always laugh even as batman beats him up. He used to freak me out as a kid the joker.

agreed, Hamil's performance in the new Arkham Asylum video game I hear is top notch -- the new game is a must have for all Batman or DC fans.

serious, check out the trailer at IGN, with Mark Hamill reprising the Joker, and with a modern look, and with Kevin Conroy playing batman -- its going to be sick -- the game looks great and I hope its finally going to be a great BAtman game

I did not know that Batman movie was in theaters. We got it on vhs when i was a kid. I still have it at home. Haven't watched it in years. I didn't like it when i was a kid because there was too much story. I may go check it out again.
