Hey signal, I think wikipedia sums it up about the Dodgers leaving New York to come to LA......New York could NOT offer what the Dodgers and Walter O'Malley wanted. Only Los Angeles could! Get over it and stop living in the past.
Robert Moses, New York City Developer, was a "Loosing Jerk". He allowed "The Dodgers" to leave Brooklyn. "Brooklyn Fans" are the real loosers. New York Politicians still don't realized what they done allowing "The Dodgers" to leave Brooklyn. "The Mets" are the replacement team to fill the void "The Dodgers" created. Mr. O' Malley & "The Dodgers" wanted to stay in their Native Brooklyn Home. "The Dodgers" still has too much Brooklyn Origin.
Was Willie Davis there? Who were the players that took to the field in this ceremony? Is there a list? I grew up listing to the best in the business, Vin Scully, and there are so many names going through my head at this moment. The Padres did something like that down here when Tony Gwynn retired. What they did was assemble all the players that had shared seasons with him. It was pretty neat. It was cool that the Dodgers kept it a secret. :)
