@kolumbieca21412 George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone. it is a shame, christine has so many good songs and the guys only use this one on youtube vids... as for me, I have the complete soundtrack on my cell phone xD
Besides the colour, and possibly the engine, what else is different between a Belvedere and a Fury? I saw the movie first, then read the book, and at first I though it was between sedan and coupe. Can anyone rattle off the changes?
@Mechknight73 Some of the components cross-over year VS year, but the headlights, lower grill, Belvedere lettering near the gas cap, and some have a side stripe with no kick at the rear.
The 57 belvedere has one bigger headlight on each side on the outside, but in '58 (as you can see here) the Belvedere got the Fury's twin 'normal' size headlights.
The '57 Belv. had a lower grill that had vertial gaps, but again in '58 got the Fury's horizontal lower grill.
@Mechknight73 Also, I think only the '57 Belv had a whistle shaped front badge, all others have the V.
And possibly the regular '57 belvederes lacked the tail kick in the stripe, although maybe the higher spec Belv. models had it, I have trouble myself ID'ing them but I think I have this all right.
Originally I liked the '57 Belvedere, but now I'm not sure what I like most, the Fury's horizontal lower grill and identical size headlights have grown on me.
It's nice to see a 1950's American car on Youtube that's still located in the United States! That's becoming a rare thing these days. Beautiful car BTW.
you know whats weird in the book it says Christine is a 4 door, but could you imagine "Christine" as a Red And White 4 door killer car? I didn't think so XD
Nope! You could only get a Fury in Buckskin Beige in 1958--that's the easiest way to tell a Fury from a regular Belvedere (Furies were in the Belvedere series that year).
dang man good 57..plymouth belvedere.i got a 58 that was made in 57 that well obviously looks like christine.and i have this little reciever and remote control i bought together for 2 grand but i havent instaled it yet.itl have me able to drive it by remote.so we have a new christine....if only it would regenerate.....or can it?
It's so hard on the internet for people to understand when they're wrong. They didn't try to make it look like a '57 Belvedere. Why would they? It's a 58 Fury in both the book and the movie. They only incongruity was that Plymouth didn't make a Fury in red in 58. The book explained it was a special order.
Just so u guys know..Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Fury the Belvedere and Savoy were look alikes (clones) so they didn't have to smash up so many fury's
I have a 58 Belvedere 2drhdtp I have had many cars I love this one the most. It is a multi show winner and I race It It will do 106mph at 13secounds with street tires through the mufflers. Running around 500hp 440. I can also drive it to the store. I love yours also. I will make a vidio soon and put on etube. Redsled
Just wonderful. automotive pornography. even leaving the movie connection to one side its still a fantastic looking machine from every angle. what with all these retro cars coming in (beetle, mini, fiat 500) maybe fins n chrome will be the next thing to come back? hope so
i don't know if i could own that car after the legacy it has, i'd be afraid to be in it alone or for that matter to leave my girlfriend alone in it. but i do love that machine, she is beautiful
Great clip. I'd like to see you video-tape the car and have LABAMBA by Richie Valens playing as you hear the engine being revved up (If you've read Christine by Stephen King, you'll understand why). Then have the car slowly coming at you.
Is this a belvedere or fury? What an awesome car. I had a 1958 Savoy Hardtop a couple years ago but it started breaking down, oh well. Nothing like these finned beauties.
Nothin like it man. Id pick Christine over any car any day. Id hate to know if you ever sold that to someone and they wrecked it cause you cant find any anywhere! ( unless of course you know where another ones at lol)
I used to own a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere four-door hardtop. It served as my wedding car. Beautiful car to look at,but plagued with problems. I couldn't afford to keep it going. I hope you have better luck with yours.

Christine was most definitely a 1958. Check the headlights, grille, hubcaps, and tail lights.

Christine is a 1958, but they tried to make it look like a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere.

Hi Buick61 i'm restoring a 1958 Plymouth myself and i just love the '57-'58 plymouths. A longer video of the car running , revving would be great !!!
MANOSRX7 5 years ago
Well, right now, it's in the process of getting the fuel tank restored, so once that's done I'll be sure to do just that.
Buick61 5 years ago
What kind of engine is in that car? 318? And what exhaust system?
How about a vid of the car revving up a bit!
ChristinesFury 5 years ago
Nope, it's the 350 Golden Commando.
The exhaust system is basically stock, but the mufflers were slightly modified.
