I can tell you that the DAW is Reason, and the keystation is a M-Audio Oxygen 8, first generation model. I can also tell you that I am 100% sure there was a lot more tweaking done to this track after this video. Unless you saved your patches, you have every reason to want to tweak your patches in Reason, and I can tell he was loading lots of default sounds, which usually are just basic settings until you finish production, and move to mastering the track.

Back in the days of chip music and the mod scene people actually had to know what they were doing even to not get laughed at. Samplers cost more than most could afford and the only piece of hardware commonly available was a sound chip in a c64/amiga/etc. Still many tracker guys managed to sound infinitely better than this without even trying too hard. Now you can just get a ton of studio hardware, faceroll some buttons and call yourself a producer. I'm so glad you still can't buy actual talent.

that aint all the case buddy. beatmaking and producing are two different things. i think it takes alot longer to make a GOOD beat, than to write a GOOD verse on a sheet of paper. if you think about the mixing and mastering, its a really tough process besides actually making the beat. you have to have an ear for music if your gonna make beats. the art of producing tracks is something that i dont even have time to go into detail about. just take it this way - producing is harder
