  • This shit is gonna tairdown my batterygrip.

  • Genius!

  • His proud on face make me laugh! xD

This is not tripod. Try do with it long exposure.

  • not practical at all

  • This is so creative! Well done ;)

  • Thats awesome. I must try this!

  • Genius! thanks

  • This is a quick fix, I recently upgraded though. $38 later and I have smooth moving pans throughout all my recent footage. I recommend one to all independent videographers.

  • usually the best solution is the most simple one... Brilliant, haha.

  • Wow what a great idea!

  • Geniale! Thanks!!!

  • Идея вроде нормальная, только где болт достать с дюймовой резьбой стандарта UNC ?

  • thank you very much

  • "good job" as the Hancock said some day ;)

  • bu ne a.q

  • Excellent idea! Can't wait to try it.

  • Simple... effective... smart... I like it!

  • Hmmm... I WILL give it a try; right now!

  • when i used this people called me poor :(

  • Great idea. Gear can make all the difference... I just posted a tutorial on 5D filmmaking... Check it out! Cheers.

  • Wow. I was like WTF at first. But wow this is awsome, works really well might i add. Brillant!

  • Love the expression in the end.

  • @Fafnir1982 Yes:)He looks very proud and happy!But,why not?I think it's a brilliant idea.

  • Pretty slick. Light weight, packable too. Thanks!

  • smart! :D

  • ingenius. now all you need is a retractable cord with a locking mechanism to vary the height. i can see this catching on in situations where a tripod is not practical.

  • @chino1127

already exists, you can buy them at photomojo

  • @chino1127

already exists, you can buy them at buydig.com

  • Camera snobs. That $3000 camera doesn't take the photo - you do. So what are you so worried about? Who cares what other people think? Oh that's right, you do, camera snob. hahaha

Anything that improves your photographs is ok by me. Great work, man.

  • Dude, you are a genius. Patent that idea right away!

  • what if you need to use a lower height? this is not the best solution i've seen so far..

  • @BermudaRult: are you really lacking the slightest bit of creativity? What about wrapping the string a few times around the washer?

  • @BermudaRult are you really lacking the slightest bit of creativity? What about wrapping the string a few times around the washer?

  • Thanks mate! I'm gonna give it a try!

Greetings from Scouting Beyloo ter Horst, Netherlands ;) .

  • lol, do use that with a $3000 camera

  • Cool idea!

  • what kind of camera is that??

  • I will try this way ..... WoW

  • I wil try this way ..... WoW

  • I'd rather use a monopad

  • win

  • I was saying, "what?" ...until you stepped on it! That’s way cool, simple, and my favorite part… cheap!

  • If you want a stabilizer that's durable (aluminum) and fits in your pocket, check out the readySTEADY.

  • oh, man. that is geniously!

  • great shoes ! what brand/ make is it?

(nice trick as well, thanks ;-) )

  • im an eagle scout :)

  • you have to be kidding me. This is awful.

  • thanks

  • this is kool!

  • nice idea :) thx

  • I wish I knew how to tie knots :(

  • lol that guy looks like john hamm

  • NICE!

    very helpful video

    LIKE :)

  • Why not attach it to your belt instead this way you can walk around with it if need be.

  • im on my way to eagle! grats

  • awesome!

  • Ingenious idea! You should patent this.

Btw, I think this would only work with light lenses.

Not when you've a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (or larger lens) mounted on your camera.

  • Great idea!!! And it's quick!!!

  • I didn't say that it is a bad idea.It is actually very ingenious.It's just funny :D

  • =)) I can see myself out on the street and suddenly pulling out of my pocket a string with a blot attached to it and tying it to my camera.I think that people would laugh their asses off!

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs leonardo da vinchi was funny either!

  • @yeleleo yeah. pppfftt i almost pissed myself seeing him using his 'telescope' or whatever the hell a helicopter is.

  • @yeleleo also*

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs belive me!no one laugh when you have your Canon 7D

and L series lense on your camera :D

  • @zousanai Maybe they will because if you can afford such a stupid thing, than you must afford a tripod.

I can't see any reason to buy a 7D, unless you're doing studio.Great photographers didn't even heard of digital cameras, and don't start with the "times have changed"

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs tripod is much more better if you have many time

but this much more better and faster for stabilization :)

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs lmao no shit

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs try not giving a shit.

  • Great tip. Using the camera strap with horizontal tension should help stabilize the camera even further.

  • Wonderful...Thanxs

  • rubbish

  • god i love you, now, only if i can find a bolt that fit the camera....

  • @mewanafly It's a standard size so it shouldn't be hard at all.

  • right on . thats great thinking . thank you very much

  • Wow! What a cool idea!

  • I thought it was a joke!!! That's brilliant!

  • Hey, good original idea. Congratulations.

  • ai no mames men

  • use virtual dub with deshaker

  • very clever :) thx

  • genius

  • I can see why you were an Eagle.

    Very innovative.

    I will be trying this.

  • Great !!! Thaks for the trick!! You're smart!!! Keep goin' on !!!

  • Simply brilliant!

  • wow totally brilliant! gonna try that !

  • Awesome dude.....

  • This wouldnt work for moving around with a video camera, but this will be great for my SLR for when I go camping. Thank you!

  • 0$ Steadicam from junk

    watch?v=B5FMTjcF2Ng

  • perfec

  • Great tip for creating an instant monopod. However the stabilizers are a bit different and they work on two laws of Physics: center of gravity and Inertia. You can design your own while keeping these two things in mind. Here is my iPhone stabilizer design

    /watch?v=ilHCWFilP2w

  • Well done!!

  • Very clever. Now try to follow somebody...

  • @Vatsek try to follow someone with a tripod....

  • @yurkia360 That's what tripods on wheels are for..

  • cool and useful video... Thank you

  • I have been using the neck strap method for years, but will definitely try this. Thanks!

  • lool

  • wow thnx dude that´s a cheap IS.

  • That's pretty clever.

  • Great video! I like the idea of attaching the string to your belt, then you could bend your knees and still get tension in the string. Great simple solution... do you think it works for video too?

  • That's got to be one of the simplest ways to steady up still shots, This would even work with small video cameras, The tension created will definitely lessen any shake. The bolt by the way is a 1/4-20 size bolt, which means it's 1/4" thick and has 20 threads per inch of threaded shaft. Just go to the store and ask for a 1"long 1/4-20 hex head bolt. Thanks for posting this, it's excellent. Congrats!

  • nice slippers

  • How about attaching it to your belt?

    Nice knots!

  • good idea....cool

  • Wow!!!!!!! this is amazing thanks for share this technique.

  • Cool, MacGyver! I'm gonna try that out

  • itS CooL DuDE!!!!

  • cool

  • with a longer bolt ?

  • really cool !

  • ... or if you have a camera with LCD and neckstrap (i.e. Canon G-series), just extend the camera until neckstrap is tight.. ;)

  • ever considered wrapping the washer end around your belt so you can walk while being steady?

great idea tho! I'll have to try that out.

and yay for Eagle Scouts! lol

  • Wow! This is ingenious. I'm a Parkinson's patient, so stability is a BIG issue for me. I will post this on a couple of listservs for folks with PD. Now, where's the video on how to tie that cool Boy Scout knot?

  • Incredible. Thanks a lot! am gonna try it.

  • One could also use two strings attached to the screw with each end held down under each foot for increased stability. Just a thought :)

  • he doesent wrape the all the screw only half

  • :D he is genius!!!!!!!!

  • that's freaking awesome!

  • Great old trick for those shooting on the fly and on a budget.

  • I just tried this for the first time. Only I used what was around the house. lol. Fabric thread for the string....metal key ring......I did have the bolt sitting around though. For my first time, pretty impressive. Once I get some real equipment(the washer looks like it would be muuuuch better than a key ring for obvious reasons), I think this should be awesomeness. Thanks for posting!

  • thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah but that doesnt help the camera shaking.....

  • pull harder

  • thats wat she said

  • lol

  • battery power saver. when not using image stabilizer but only washer, bolt and rope.

  • nice crocs

  • thats pretty nifty

i normaly hold out my camera with my next trap tight on my neck kinda helps steading it out a bit, this looks better though :)

  • man, that's clever.

  • wonderfull!

  • It is interesting. I probably should try on my non VR/IS lens.

  • Thank you! It's a very good idea!!

  • Nice shoes! Which brand are those

  • how do you make this work for a video camera?

  • noobs

  • Dude I tried this a while ago and it actually increased my camera shake. You have to lift up with greater force to keep the string (or cable) taut. The greater force you use, the more your muscles shake. It's a great idea and I wish it worked but in my experience it doesn't.

What does kind of work is to turn your body so your left shoulder faces the subject, set the camera on your left shoulder, and look through your left eye. Much better.

  • Well. "Dude," lots of people would disagree with you. I first learned this at a Nikon course in 1979. It does work. Don't try to hold it, just pull up, aim, shoot. One way to test this is to use a camcorder with IS turned off.

  • Nice one!

  • genius!!!!

  • Very easy and usefull trick , thanks a lot

  • Awesome!

  • useful videos - you have the ugliest shoes i have ever seen

  • hahahahha clever you made me lough veri simple very clever.... thnx

  • Excellent idea. Will test it right now.

  • Awesome idea, thank you.

  • would this work for a video cam too? i dont see y not but just asking

  • I dont think so - but you can check and share your experience!

  • i tried it. it doesn't work

  • Great idea, and if people are worried about the washer coming out from under their shoe just replace the washer with a loop in the bottom of the string and put your shoe through it.

  • Its an awsome idea but I think u should change the title from "Lose the Tripod" to "Lose the Monopod"

  • I heard the clown that made the Merlyn is looking 4 you!

  • nice idea OMG!

  • nice!

  • creative

  • good thanks it can save me a lot $

  • i saw a tripod at the dollar store

    im gonna buy it tomarrow

  • im not guna lie but thats pritty cool

  • Awesome ! I Trying this badboy out.

  • Perfect idea ;)

  • haha nice idea!!! =]

  • you should patent that idea and try to mass produce it.

I think people would rather spend a dollar to 5 dollars on a small gadget like that than spend costly amounts of money on a tripod.

    I would think about seriously.

  • shoot if he doesn't do it, I will lol!!!

  • my claim is already in there =)

  • It's a good idea but since anyone can make it it would not make much money.

  • wow it was so much more E-Z than i thought!and this looks like it can werk!

  • ur a eagle scout im in scouts and im life but im onlly 11

  • man u r a friggin genius. seriously pal

  • It would be really nice if we could see how effective it is. It's all very cute and all when everybody goes "so cool, excellent idea", but why now just show on youtube a before and after video?

  • well why not try it out for yourself? lol it's a piece of string, a washer and a bolt, dont you have those lying around your house??

  • i will make 1 of this tomorrow. thanks a lot!

  • Thanks for taking the trouble to make this

    nice demonstration of the concept.

    But "a bolt"...

A true scout would specify the diameter and thread type.

  • He did, 1/4" diam with coarse thread.

    Were you even paying attention?

    Excellent idea though!

  • NICE... IT WORKED! :)

  • your genious thanks man i luv u

  • If you have anti-shake in body AND this you get alot more anti-shake.

  • You can do it with the neckstrap too!

  • awesome! i'm gonna try this out. do you think it'll work on video cameras?

  • what if you need to move forward and backward?

  • Thanks a lot!

  • It's an old idea, but it's working.

  • Great idea!

  • use a carabiner and make several loops up the rope to make it adjustable

  • that os a great idea

  • Brilliant, I'll need to try it sometime. It also helps greatly to have image stabilization on your camera or lens.
