1. The wild ones would probably bite, though they're more likely to jab with their quills.

2. They're bred as pets all across North America, but don't exist in our wild.

3. Last I heard, the price range was around $75-$250. Thats not counting the cage, wheel, blankets and other supplies, plus food litter and vet bills. Altogether I would budget at least $750-$1000.

It's an animal with unique habits and needs. They should be researched thoroughly and bought from a good breeder.

Poor little thing looks like he's being persecuted by the paparazzi. Pity about the helicopter-style filming. People do that with babies - take photos of them from six feet above their heads. You have to get down to eye level, people. You wouldn't habitually take pictures of grown-ups by getting them to stand and look up while you photographed them from an upstairs window. So don't do it with babies! Or hedgehogs, if possible!

Actually, this is a domesticated hedgehog that is meant to be kept in captivity and is not really that rare at all. They can be bought from breeders at about $90-$200.
