  • Olay!!! Vancouver is a nice place. I once lived there.

  • good teaching

  • Thanks.

  • dilivin bendini sikim azerice de biz de anliyaq da got balasi got

  • wtf is this advert?

  • Your not doing that right thats poor technique stick to your steel string folk rock or whatever you normally play

  • Thank you thank you thank you! this made a huge difference, i can finally strum! and i added in a mute so now i can play somthing! this is a very good tutorial my friend! i love spanish/ flaminco style!

  • I just have a martin ellipse acoustic/electric cutaway guitar can i just switch to nylon strings to start learning how to play this style?

  • wtf...in a rasgueado, the thumb remains anchored and doesn't strum -_-

if you wanna do a 4 finger rasgueado then just include your pinkie, or at the end of a 3 finger rasgueado make an up-stroke with your index finger

  • so wtf are the a m i p then?

  • @gringolazlo a = angular / ring finger, m = middle, i = index, p = thumb.

I work closely with James Manuele (the instructor in this video), and I would like to advise that he is a Classical Guitarist and not a flamenco player. Though, he is capable of playing flamenco, his forte is classical. If someone is looking for true flamenco techniques I advise you to look elsewhere. The techniques demonstrated here are merely stones in a huge array of methods performed by guitarists all over the world.

  • It is pronounced flamEnco... Please. And thank you. (not flam-in-co)

  • i tied up 5 picks on my fingers... didn't work...at all...damn

  • guitarules website is coming soon to help you with your technique all welcome

  • Dude , you ever went to Romania? Cause you have a poster in the back wih Laurentiu Raducanu!

  • @RomaniaOverpowered me too... me too

  • and ann app.. an... the "p" finally =)

  • acrylic nails are extremely popular with flamenco musicians -- especially those who bite theirs. :) It is hard on th enails though. MrMelodynelson: That works really well but here in the US we don't have Spanish gypsies on the street to learn from. Gotta use what ya got!

  • what im tryn to say is that you learn it in the streets not in a class room, as a soccer player...Paco de lucia doesnt know how to read a tablature (music paper) and he is the most talent gipsy-flamenco guitarist in the all world!- (I learm by watch in a beach in spain with gipsys)

  • @MrMelodynelson well said! i worship paco de lucia, but you cannot deny that his sense of harmony, melody and knowledge about music theory in general is vast, he may not have learnt it that way, but he may have learnt it later.. for unfortunate people like me in India who cannot meet the Gypsies in spain, such lessons are very useful. not this particular lesson, but flamenco/classical gypsy style. I'm an ameteur and i would have never learnt this style if no one told me :)

  • @Akshay8585 flamenco has to involve participation,,,, there is no other way .... technique can be shown and practiced but eventually you have to find a flamenco group........ if you learn the wrong way it takes months to correct bad mistakes.... this guy will only confuse you

  • @RealGuitarules : totally agree!

  • @holyevil thanyou!!!!!!! at last some one with actual brains is watching guitar videos...... I hate to put this guy in his place ...but i dont like to see people miss led..... this guy is a real weapon of mass distruction!!!!

  • you dont need nails just practice alot

  • @kevhstn In my experience, it's better to practice without them.

  • @kevhstn yes u need nail... the nail is like the pick... if u do it without nails it wont sound the same as with nails =)

  • @terminator9499 But you dont need long nails though

  • @kevhstn 3 metres long only.

  • "Welcome to the YT channel - RichieGuitarFlamenco""

  • @fcukz18, he is strumming E, then he goes to a barred F chord, then back to E. This video was helpful for me because I have long fingers, and when watching Gabriela (from Rodrigo y Gabriela) I couldn't figure out her technique because my thumb nail would get caught. This helps develop my style where I can alter it for my longer fingers.

  • I don't like your Rasgueado technique, I use my pointer to my pinky, I never use my thumb for it. I need it so I can keep a bass note going while i play my harmonies with my other fingers.

  • @Eradicateify i agree-probably its a classical guitar techniqe- i have seen some use it.

  • Teaching flamenco involves many different aspects but all of these aspects need to lead to one subject...COMPAS!!!! I hear no mention of any Palo? Tangos, Bulerias, Solea, Alegrias etc...I study and teach flamenco. All of my teachers inluding a private lesson with Antonio Rey do EVERYTHING in COMPAS. Where is the mention of your techniques as they apply to palos? Please be careful teaching flamenco.

  • good work i like it

  • yea not as easy on a steel string, nylons aparently arnt as painful

  • What cords is he strumming??

  • @fcukz18 Im a noob myself and trust me, when they say you should look over the most basic chords before anything, theyre not kidding. Learn all the minor and major shapes on the guitar before ANYTHING.

  • @fcukz18 e

  • tell us a story

  • Paco watch it and..he´s not agree with the way you play....the spanish gipsy doesnt even know the accords!...so, what are you trying to explain??? and the rytm is the more important.

  • @MrMelodynelson what?

  • @Akshay8585 que no hace falta tanto rollo! qué se hace como nos se las da ganas..es como jugar al futebol-o tiennes talento o te jodes.

  • OMG!! I love that guitar!! Sound so loud, clear!!!

  • Bad Lieutenant?

  • You look like Harvey Keitel~

  • @templetrickster sounds a little like him too!

  • I didnt know peopl could play "Flamingos"! So why is he playing a guitar!

  • he is a teacher in college?!! he needs to practice more on his own first.

  • @Bgharar

    Why?

  • better watch another instructionnal video

  • Nine Inch Nails

  • How many strings are you striking with each finger? I am not a guitar player. Guess this is more intermediate

  • @canaan1967 in rasgeado the thumb rests on the low E string ...with the others fingers u strum the other 5 strings.....ur welcome :)

  • the way he talks, it reminds me of Harvey Keitel

  • @trinity2112 hit f5

  • MUFASA!

  • bodok ngana...!!!! luji,,,sengel jow...

  • A question, would havinf long finger nails be essential for learning Flamenco guitar also can you learrn Classical guitar on a flamenco guitar

  • I'm wondering about the same things swiv2d has mentioned ... so can you please answer...

thank you so much for your videos :)

  • it helps alot to have nails and you can play anystyle on any guitar it just might not the same.

  • @johndawson420 haha:P for me it is exactly the other way I can't play when my nails are too long because I touch the strings with my fingertops and it's disturbing when your nail hits it for the second time again:P

  • nope of course not.. but you will find over time as you get better, when you have longer finger nails, it will produce better tone and sound. The idea is the flesh hits the string first and rolls off the nail.

  • Thanks
