I see a common problem. If you want to play the songs at Ramones concert speed, it's almost impossible to stick to consequent 8th note downstrokes. But instead of to resort to alternate picking it's better to hang on to the downstrokes and just skip a strum here and there. Nobody will notice and even Johnny did it. Great job nonetheless!
