No it isn't. That's Christian Anti-Pagan Propaganda. Baal or Ba'al is an even older word than that and was an old title meaning Lord. In the sense that it refers to a deity it would be used similar to the Old Testament usage of The Lord.
In the old Caananite pantheon, Ba'al was a storm and harvest god until the cult of Yahweh subsumed him.
