Those were the days when REAL skilled dj's actually existed! Know there are all these phony mouse-clicker wannabe dj's as i like to call them, using computer programs to beatmatch and mix records for them. Aren't very many purests left!
He said Steve was playing "Give it to Me" by Conquest and back-cueing the break three times and doin some tricks...and I think back in ny these things were already been done by the likes of GMF and others DJ's so probably that was a new thing in Chicago scene.
I do beleive my favorite song is playing in this background by steve hurley and that sounds like are u gonna be there steve hurley mix by shay jones..
I remember the day I made Bad Boy Bill furious. Everyone was using Shure SC35 Blue and Orange cartridges and they were hard to come by at a good price. Bill heard about this place that I was getting my needles from (Rays Tools) and went out there only to find that I had bought him out of his supply for the week ! Talk about pissed.
steve silk, was the first house artist/producer to go main stream, but back in the day he was kind of high post and shit:) he wasnt as accessible as other DJ's, plus he was making some serious paper, he use to drive a bad ass white Jaguar, no other DJ/Producer was making steve silk kind of paper back in the day.
The guy in this video is a good friend of mine from way back. Gary Jackmaster Wallace. He owned a record label over on Halsted and Chicago. Good to see him again.
thanx a bunch for the title...house rules!

@chluckey That is "Music Is The Key" playing in the background, it was the first track to be put out on the DJ International label.
