The F15 has superior combat experience, better logistics infrastructure and much better ground strike capabilities so it is better than the Su37. Thus it was selected and the Su37 rejected. The mig29 is designed to be maneuverable at low speeds but is not as good at higher speeds. It was designed as a point defense interceptor. It was shot down many times while the F15/F16 performed very well in actual combat.

The Su37 was offered long ago for our new generation fighter program; the French offered the(better) Rafale. Having two separate platforms is not good in terms of logistics. The Su37 prototype was here at a nearby airshow. The F-15E variants can do both A-G and A-A missions excellently;the Su-37 has some A-G capability but the F-15 is simply more capable and has superb logistics /infrastructure support.

And the F-15K being selected was absolutly nothing to do with performance, only with your US based arsenal, it would have been difficult to adopt a Sukhoi into it.
Was 37 rather than 35. The 37 could have been manufactured here if ever selected because we have a much better industry infrastructure than Russia. The US has a much better logistics/support infrastructure than Russia; this is much more important in warfare than how single weapon samples appear to be. Total cost of ownership is actually lower in case of US weapon systems. Of course, the F15 has a better overall performance.

Indian Air Force Mig 21 bisons kicked
F 15s in COPE 2004 joint exercise and F16s A/BC asses in COPE 2006. USAF went back home confused.
Mig 21 bisons with Kopyo radar and R 77 BVR kicked F15s and F 16s out of the skies. AWACS were not used but it does not mean IAF does not have AWACS capability. India already got its Phalcons.
Mig29s with BVR R77 made sure that Pakistani F16s A/B were a sitting duck in 1999 Border skirmish

...and IAF won 90% of mock battle. USAF pilot contradicted himself in Red flag saying that they had upper hand in red flag and IAF dominated in COPE exercises. The conditions were similar except addtion of SAMs in the back ground in the Red flag.

The F-16 is better. It is combat-proven. The original MiG-29 is roughly equivalent to an F-4D but not equal to the F-4E which has AMRAAM and APG-65.

Then why were Mig29s shot down all the time? The Su27 series is better(a Su35 would be roughly equivalent to an F-16 Block15 or so).Our government rejected the Su37(its prototype was long time ago participating in an airshow here) since it was not good enough; the F-15 was selected and everyone is happy. The most advanced F-15 version is the F-15SG.

The Mig-29 was actually built to counter the F-16 so what you say is rather incorrect, further on the Mig-29 can also counter the F-15 with its better maneuverability, it would have an advantage in dogfights. I cant agree with you, Mig-29 is not inferior to the F-16. Your government was offered the Su-37?, I must say I never heard of that, but if they rejected the offer, its either the price was extremely high or your government is extremely foolish, second option being more likely, sory to say.

The F15 has superior combat experience, better logistics infrastructure and much better ground strike capabilities so it is better than the Su37. Thus it was selected and the Su37 rejected. The mig29 is designed to be maneuverable at low speeds but is not as good at higher speeds. It was designed as a point defense interceptor. It was shot down many times while the F15/F16 performed very well in actual combat.

So was your government looking for a strike aircraft or a fighter, you are mixing two roles here and mixing in the F-15 and F-15 Strike eagle as if it were one aircraft and I never heard of the Su-37 being offered to S.Korea, when did this happen?

The Su37 was offered long ago for our new generation fighter program; the French offered the(better) Rafale. Having two separate platforms is not good in terms of logistics. The Su37 prototype was here at a nearby airshow. The F-15E variants can do both A-G and A-A missions excellently;the Su-37 has some A-G capability but the F-15 is simply more capable and has superb logistics /infrastructure support.

Are you refering to the S.koreas F-X fighter program, where the Su-35 was offered, not the Su-37 and the F-15K was choosen in the end?, if so - get it right damn it. And the F-15K being selected was absolutly nothing to do with performance, only with your US based arsenal, it would have been difficult to adopt a Sukhoi into it.

Was 37 rather than 35. The 37 could have been manufactured here if ever selected because we have a much better industry infrastructure than Russia. The US has a much better logistics/support infrastructure than Russia; this is much more important in warfare than how single weapon samples appear to be. Total cost of ownership is actually lower in case of US weapon systems. Of course, the F15 has a better overall performance.

and by my understanding s korea was never offered the su 37 only the 35. and i dont think your govt picked f 15 because it was better, but because it would be easier to train pilots and maintain aircraft and save money and time because most of your countrys air force is made up of american aircraft.
this is similar to india picking the t 90 over other tanks.

They offered the 37 but was rejected. I saw the prototype but the F15 was also looking much better. The US, even if its manufacturing has declined, still has a better support/logistics infrastructure and this is a nontechnical but managerial issue in which the US is still far ahead. And our new XK2 is better than the T90.

F16 is much better than mig29,that's a fact. Nontechnical reasons are also very important; the US is far ahead in terms of logistics/support infrastructure. Even the former Eastern Bloc countries are adopting F16/Gripens instead of their existing mig29s.

xxzaebd u r in ur dreams. which east block country is adopting f16 over mig-29?!mig-29 overhauling has been hampered cause russians dont overhaul their 205 years old migs whereas f16 is upgrading all the time. so they r incomparable.now if u compare f16-block52 and mig-35, the latest mig-29 upgrade then there is no chance for f16.the oldest f16 was worse than the oldest mig-29 and the latest mig-35 is better than latest f16 block 52.here we have a mig-35, not the 84 model mig-29.

The eagle is unbeaten so until you can actually put something in the air in significant numbers which performs in combat conditions i'd refrain from making such bold statements of wishing. Peace out!

that is because of pilot traning. the plane can be the best but if pilot isnt good then it can be shot down easily. s korean govt must be stupid if they rejected the su 37. its obvious sukhoi can out manuver the eagle but now it can also carry bvr missiles which are capable of beating the amraam in range and reliability

mig 29 is a tactical support fighter/interceptor to help out the su 27. it is highly manuverable. even more manuverable then the su 27. in the 91 gulf war pilots were advised not to fight close combat with mig 29 because it was more manuverable.

if you think mig 29 is equal to f 4, you are stupid. the f 4 was ment to be a interceptor bomber. and it was ment to intercept bomber sized targets. the first models didnt have a gun. it was bulky and its missiles unreliable. when it faced migs over vietnam pilots had a really tough time with them. they would usually use up all of their missiles to shoot down 1 or 2 migs.

none of the planes except Raptor (FA-22) can compete with Mig-35. but raptor is a recent creation (not *long time*) and F-35 is not ready yet. i readily believe though that YOU have had women ...flying...

Yeah they can. The F-15 is considered the number one air superiority fighter in the world. That's why some argued that the government should have just updated it rather than make a fleet of brand new jets. The F-14 is the preferred aircraft of some of the best pilots in the world. It's used by the U.S.s Top Gun program. The F-117 is stealth so the MiG-35 couldn't even spot it. The F-16 is capable of carrying a massive payload which is only rivaled by long range bombers.
