When Mametaro turned into his really cartoony-self...I remembered seeing him in the opening credits and thought he was a cat.

Ahh...I like this anime already. I wish they'd do an anime of a comic called Wild Half I really like. It has dogs and lots of other animals that can turn human and half human and speak human. It's cool. But I don't think it's widely known sadly...especially not in North America.

Is there any other great dog/wolf animes out there? I've seen this one, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Ginga Densetsu Weed, Princess Mononoke (best film ever), Balto, All Dogs Go To Heaven and The Plague Dogs. Last three aren't really anime. xD I saw a bit of Wolf's Rain but some idiot blabbed out the ending in the comments. -_-

@ThylacineAli Try The Call of the Wild and White Fang. Both are books, but I think White Fang has been adapted into an animated film, and I heard a cartoon as well, but I can't find material. Also, but have been adapted to a live-action film. I can't remember anything of The Call of the Wild being an animated film though.

Other books: Julie and the Wolves, Black Star, Bright Dawn (as one title), Cracker! The Best Dog in Vietnam. I wasn't a fan of reading books until The Call of the Wild.

@ThylacineAli Ah, I'm forgetting an important one! Road Rovers. Yes, I know, it's kiddish, but still a good support and companion show for dog/wolf media. Oliver and Company is not strictly about dogs, but some main characters are. 101 Dalmatians is good too, but I prefer the sequel over the original because of the German Shepherd. Eight Below and Snow Dogs are a must have if you like Alaska, they dogs used in both movies are almost alike (both of them are live-action, not animated).

Well, I am pretty sure you know Wolf's Rain and GDW/GNG, but here are some animated dog movies that are pretty good: Balto (my favorite!), All Dogs Go To Heaven, White Fang, Call of the Wild, Princess Mononoke, 101 Dalmatians.

I reccomend the animes Ranma 1/2 and Full Moon. Those are my favorite animes so far. You don't have to, but I reccomend you watch them.
