The "Mosque at Ground Zero" is not a mosque and it is not at Ground Zero. The multi-story building does feature a worship room in it - mosque if you will - sure. The rest of the buiding is a community center open to the public, much like the YMCA. So think of the YMCA with a chapel inside of it, but Muslim and open to the public.

The Caliphate of Cordoba was the ONLY European country to have religious freedom in Europe till the modern age. Many of the Christian subjects welcomed the Moors in hoping to expreince a better quality of life, which they did. The Reconquista of Southern Spain was marked by the slaughter, torture, and murder.

The Mosque at Ground Zero is a memorial to what Muslims call a historic victory -the killing of 3,000 people and the maiming of perhaps 15,000 plus the constant pain of hundreds.
Muslims always build symbolic mosques on lands they conquered by the sword eg the mosque on Temple Mount in Jerusalem, St Sophia converted into a mosque in Constantinople (Istanbul), destruction of the Basilica of San Vicente Mártir and the building of a mosque on it in Cordoba Spain.

@normaspleen PART III Absolutely Islam has provisions for amputations for theft and lashing for drug abuse, first reason it is a deterrent, how many one handed people do you see walking around in the Muslim world where this law is enacted, I have not seen one as the punishment alone is detternt enough, how much does it cost you to lock up a thief in America do you know? research, alcohol is a drug, medically, chemically, and dependency-wise, instead of locking up someone they are lashed.

im pretty sure if i asked someone in the u.s. who were to steal a cell phone if they would either get their punishment according to american law, which would be a little jail time/community service or whatever, or take the punishment according to islamic law and have a hand or leg, possibly both like the somali man i cited below, it would be a no brainer. maybe we do have the "3 strikes" thing here, but not in islamic law. make a small mistake under sharia and there goes your hand.

The "Mosque at Ground Zero" is not a mosque and it is not at Ground Zero. The multi-story building does feature a worship room in it - mosque if you will - sure. The rest of the buiding is a community center open to the public, much like the YMCA. So think of the YMCA with a chapel inside of it, but Muslim and open to the public.
So if the anti-Islamiic people could just take your fingers off the panic button you would see that this is not insensitve or a threat.
