  • Why so fast?

  • Plant's sad voice is foreshadowing Zeppelin's incipient descent.

  • All I remember about this track was the number of people pouring out trying to beat the rush. Getting stepped on etc. I seem to recall the Sunday performance was better.

Shame Page was not at his best. It was noticeable.

  • GREATEST SONG EVER PERIOD!

  • No, really. One of the first gigs I ever went to aged about 17!

  • I was there!!!!!!

  • @clarkescholes REALLY oO ?

  • @clarkescholes you're lying aren't you oO ?

  • proud to be from knebworth

  • jimmy plays like he just took 3 lessons of guitar... such a shame...fuck heroin

  • Jimmy Page not only inspired me to play guitar, but also to never do drugs. Thank you Jimmy!!!

  • @JimmyPagesBIGESTFan weeds not a drug

  • @JimmyPagesBIGEST Fan weeds not a drug

  • page is wasted here excellent just like the live aid version funniest thing ive ever seen also check out eric clapton playing with goerge harrison on while my guitar gently weeps at the concert for bangledesh hes wasted aswell its funny

  • Plant hated singing this song...he was burnt out on singing it.

  • At the 9:20 we can see Pagey's dad :)) The old smiling man, sitting on the chair.

  • @69Bloodsucker That's an interesting fact indeed! He must be proud of his son.

Saldy after 1975 Page was a bit sloppy, depending on the shows and days he had. Munich 1980 is an impressive one for the period.

  • @69Bloodsucker how do you know that's page father? i been surfering for his family photos but never came across a single photo of his parents

  • PM me and I'll send you photo ;)

  • @69Bloodsucker i sent you a message. please respond

  • this is what it feels like when i cum

  • pagey is wanking that guitar! uhhh uhhh uhhrrr. pssssshhhhh!

  • poor jimmy, quite tired that night

  • TA TODOMUNDO DOPADO E CHAPADO NESSA MERDA. HSUAHSUAHUSHAUHSAUHSAUHSUAHUSA LED ZEPPELIN É FODA!!!!!

  • /watch?v=YgaT9Ckwstk /watch?v=Hzzj_Q2JBBw

  • thats also why this singer is off he's trying to hard to change it

  • hahahah, bonzo taps plant's ass at 9:21

  • I was at knebworth festival it was a brill day, even though there was mistakes we love 'em because their have brought so much pleasure to our lives over the years x

  • You're all talking about Page and no one has noticed that Plant has changed the meaning of the song... It was supposed to be a song of hope, well, this version is a song of despair. He hates every word of it, but he has to sing it because it is their greatest hit. The forced smile at 3:43 is painful and that blank stare in his eyes at the end is so hopeless. He was supposed to be warm and cheerful, but now he's sarcastic. Artistically it's great and sincere, but it's painful too...

  • @miki03soimu Spot on,page said Plant would only sing it in rehearsehals if it was played as a fast reggae number!Plant says its a sanctimonious song.Plant or Page should do a proper documentary or Autobiography about zep in their heyday.

  • @sysrq120 Robert Plant saying Stairway is sanctimonious is kind of funny. Sometimes Robert is the epitome of sanctimony. If Frank Zappa can play this song with heart and emotion Robert can damn well sing it too. He can say all he wants but he was still wearing it. Do I sound partial?

  • @nellgwen48 Your right.

  • What Jimmy is doing here?

    Robert Plant sang alone.....

  • i was there on the 4th, this is a part of history, you cannot buy memories this good. nothing in life is perfect, live it and love it for what it is.

  • His voice was cracking like fuck here

  • I was there on the 4th.

The fish & chip van was selling fish that were still frozen in the middle and charging a whole quid for them!!

Worth every penny for the show. :-)

  • Jimmy is sweating pure herion right now!

  • @zed0469 he looks so wasted I'm surprised he can even hold up that double neck guitar

  • Robert Plant nr 1 of Led Zeppelin without him there isnt Led Zeppelin.

Robert the best singer of this planet

  • I was there!!!!!

  • My mum was there!

  • @ademacl152 I was there as well - 18 and my life was about to change big style - never forget that day......Do you remember LZ promised another gig in Manchester at the end and when the Stage side screens showed the full moon as the band sang this !

  • i really love this song, but honestly, i did not enjoy this..

  • This is his daughter... Andthis is my song Isis I love you dadddddy and brother love Dominique June bender

  • maybe not the GREATEST but one of the immortals

  • I WAS THERE , STARTED THE DAY WITH CHAS AND DAVE AND ENDED WITH THIS. ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE. ALSO KEITH RICHARDS RONNIE WOOD BEFORE LED ZEP .AMAZING WISH I WAS 17 AGAIN THEN

  • When Jimmy plays on Heroin it gives me chills. Doesn't happen with the pre '75 concerts I've heard.

  • In 2007, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin reunited (along with John Bonham's son, Jason) for the Ahmet Ertegün Tribute Concert at The O2 Arena in London. The band was honoured with the "Best Live Act" prize for their one-off reunion at MOJO Awards 2008, where they were declared the "greatest rock and roll band of all time."

As it should have been! You have bands with songs, you have bands with personality, this band ROCKED! BEEN THERE SEEN IT!

  • 5:20 Jimmy looks tired of playing the song.

  • was healready addicted to heroin at this concert?

  • @championofhardrock Jimmy? Oh yes, since 1977.

  • not their best imo, but still like it :)

  • @championofhardrock i think they didnt really see this a special song anymore and i can imagine that if the whole world playing your song 24/7 and you must play this song because it was populair you dont really make a great show about it anymore but if you look at achilles last stand sick again or whole lotta love that are truly perfect and epic versions of the song!

  • @bushokjew00t yea that's true i guess, you can see that the earlier versions are much better ;P and they didnt make music for commercial reasons anyway, thats why i like m.

  • Led Zep SUCKS!!!!!!

  • @drnapls2 u suck u ignorant piece of shit

  • @drnapls2 Good champs... You too

  • I was at this concert...good memories....brilliant night...=)

  • @vdubmikey1 you thought it was good?? it seems most people feel otherwise, after over the hills a guy shouts "jiimmy you suck" and before trampled underfoot in a audience cource bootleg one person says "they're not very good are they" and another person says "no theyre not".

are you sure it was this concert and not the one a week before?

  • Why does Robert Plant look fatter in 1979 than in 1969-1977?

  • I will probably never tire of watching Plant at Knebworth. Not only did he look like a million bucks, but his showmanship had evolved by this point. Truly one of the greatest frontmen of rock & roll of all time.

  • check out John Paul Jones' face at 7:59. He is feeling that shit.

  • look at plants hair from 8:30-8:40...thats the magic radiating from the best singer of all time.

  • I was 16 years old and this was my first concert which i didnt know was going to be a classic still being discussed 30 years later. Time of my life

  • Mein Gott Robert ist ein Engel Ihr wisst es nur noch nicht .so berührt er mein Herz....

  • Jimmy Page is The Legend..

    Led Zeppelin is The Legend...

  • what dvd is this from?

  • @PureFatality knebworth 79

  • i like say i hope so Great Robert Plant

  • I was there, they were ok....nah just kidding they were awesome

  • @5:17 James Patrick Page looked like he could walk on water and raise the dead. This song embodies all that was Led Zeppelin. There were blues. There was rock. There was soul. And there was Zeppelin; the best musicians at what they did. People will always complain Bonzo's death was the end of Zeppelin. I don't think so. What makes THEM special is that they really were the best, period.......bar none!

  • JPJ IS good but Neil Pert from Rush is a better drummer!

  • @stang455 So Neil Pert is better at drums than a bassist?

  • 8:10 damn plant was in 2 it

  • horrible guitar, this is sad because he could play rly good but the drugs wrecked his performances :/

  • @pabcq that's the fun of it

  • JPJ and Bonzo are saving the show if you ask me...

  • i meant people have to stop. i screwed up

  • people have to picking on jimmy here, so he was on heroin, anybody would be not bad on guitar but rush or miss notes. yeah he was addicted but he is still the same guy in the yardbirds, madison square garden, or earl's court. plus this is live, jimmy improvises a lot. in my opinion, jimmy will be the greatest guitarist forever. even when he was 25 or 60 or any age

  • @102ledzepfan dude you are right, he is the best guitarplayer in the world and the best riffmaker, i mean nobody ( or almost nobody ) is improvising for an audieance like this ones, i mean he is ALWAYS improvising a bit not even 1 solo is the same. just amazing, page is the best ever no doubt about it

  • @102ledzepfan With all due respect to Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton ( everyone's choices fro the best guitarists) and the Beatles and Rolling Stones ( both great bands) Led zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever and Page is way underrated as a guitarists ever

  • nice!

  • it was the end of a very long and crazy show, he was tired, shot, drunk etc. He rushed threw the entire song. Interesting solo to say the least, plus its not easy to play on the guitar. Either way, the first night ( the 4th) had the good solo, this is the 11th, which they were having problems with sound all night becuz they left the equipment out from the 4th. That being said, heres the excellent stairway from knebworth, much better solo and entire song youtube . com / watch?v=mpsHl7e36lw

  • oh my god i love jpj!!! (No Homo)

  • i love it when plant goes "i would like to say i hope so..i hope so....i would like to say i hope so" in an awesome tune

  • I should have been born in England back then.....life is so unfair sometimes...

  • john bonahm is the est drummer of all time

  • Jimmy page was having heroin problems, he played everything to fast it wad the same with the rain song.

  • the performance the week before is much better

  • Ma che figura facciamo nel Mondo non ce un commento di un Italiano. CHE POPOLO DI IGNORANTI. Mercogliano Avellino Italy.

  • guns n roses suck i hate them as much as justin beiber honestly i do

  • I LIKE TO SAY I HOPE SO - I LIKE TO SAY I HOPE SO OHHHHHHHHH!!!

    Robert Plant awesome!!!!

  • what happened with jimmy page in this performance?, the guitar solo was horrible comparing with another stairway to heaven guitar solos, anyway he is one of the best

  • @PLACEBOgarbage ... (1) he was having issues with heroin at the time. (2) the sound guys suck here they should have been pummled by Peter Grant. (3) they were under-rehersed.

  • @zed0469

yeah, led zeppelin hated this concert for some reason, they said they weren't ready for it

  • @PLACEBOgarbage

he is on smack, it is not a performance enhancing drug at all...;-P

  • it would be impossible for me to choose my top 5 fave Zeppelin songs, but if i had to because someone put a gun to my head i would have to say:

    1.Stairway to Heaven

    2.Achilles last stand

    3.The Rain song

    4.Tangerine

    5.Ten Years Gone

  • i gotta say obviously its not the best jimmy page solo but i thought it was pretty good... SO STOP SAYING THE SOLO SUCKS!!

  • @ZACH30198 Don't care what the people say, we know where their jive is at ;-)

  • nice solo

  • this is the worst guitar-solo of a professional band Ive ever heard....

  • @brmoogma

I hope you are joking, there is no way anyone can criticise Led Zeppelin as a group, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham . There are many guitarist and they all have there own sound, They all have a sound that is always present and to say Page is not good means that you just do not have a good ear for music.

  • I didnt say page is not goog...for me he is the best....but that doesent mean every s every solo is great...this is the worst....way to fast, no intresting licks, no finger control, too short (because he skipt difficult parts of his solo)....Jimi always tried to prevent the puplishment of this video-material, cause he is a perfectionist...

  • una delle canzoni con il più bel assolo di tutti i tempi

  • I was there! I worked there that year. They were fucking awesome!

  • this or earls court's version of stairway is the best

  • @TheSHEERHEARTATTACK

this without doubt, I was at both and I was totally blown away both times, by the way Sheer Heart Attack... I also saw Freddie, Brian, John and Roger live singing your name sake twice. Phew RIP Freddie We still miss you so much. xxx

  • @Diddilydeedot yes that is true, but man the performance of sheer heart attack at hammersmith odeon 1979 kicked fucking ass, so does this perfomance of stairway

  • AWESOME ZEP

  • R.I.P. BONHAM

  • @LedHeadTillDeath your abslouty right,

  • FYI anyone who says Jimmy's a bad guitarist, you're looking at the wrong videos! He is so obviously stoned here. Only the Zeppelin fans don't give a sod because we love Jimmy. Everyone who disagrees, do yourselves a favour and watch Stairway from Earls Court in 1975 or Madison Square Garden in 1973 =)

  • I Cried....

Just for hear the first 5 secs.

  • Jimmy Patrick Page #1 Guitarist in History

John Henry Bonham #1 Drummer in History

Robert Anthony Plant #1 Singer in History

John Paul Jones(John Baldwin) #1 Bassist/Keyboardist in History

TOGETHET CREATING THE GREATEST BAND THAT EVER WALKED THIS FAIR PLANET

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 Robert´s far from being the #1

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13, i totally agree with you about Page, Plant, and Bonham but in my opinion the best keyboardist was Ray Manzarek and the best bassist was John Entwistle

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 Somehow I feel this might be true...

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 i change what i said as of now

Jimmy Patrick Page #1 Guitarist in History

John Henry Bonham #1 Drummer in History

Noel Gallagher #1 Singer in History

John Paul Jones(John Baldwin) #1 Bassist/Keyboardist in History

ya i know, recently ive been almost inlove with Oasis, but Roberts a VERY CLOSE second

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 Just lost alot of respect for yourself there, There is no way Noel Gallagher is better than plant, yeah he's a good singer, but he has nowhere near the Range, passion, volume and versatility Plant's voice has, Noel could only ever sing for the genre he does, Plant can do anythin from Rock to Classic

  • @rickheyes0 at thats moment but, im rediscovering Led Zeppelin cuz i recently fell in love with Oasis i know sad......but still there both amazing singers

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 Keith Moon's Just as good, if not better...I'd say it's a tie

  • @cacman1993 how about Ian Paice man hes pretty good to

  • @JimmyPageNikkiW13 yeah, i forgot about him...there all really good. Best of the best...The fills in who are you are just insane

  • jimmy page is a very good player, but the solo sounds like shit, out of tune, no timing no rythm :/

  • @Lero2409 its almost so bad its good. just amazing to see haw bad they could get

  • does anyone know what the fuck "Stairway to Heaven" is supposed to be about? I read in "I'm With The Band" that "Stairway to Heaven" is about Pamela Des Barres...does anyone believe that?

  • @sjk6101983 I've read in various sources that "Stairway to Heaven" is supposed to be a veiled attack on materialism, sort of poking fun at the idea that you can't buy a "stairway" to heaven, and that money can't buy everything. I don't know if the band intended the song to be the monster hit that it was.

  • jimmy rules slash bites jimmys style of playing fuckin hard

  • Somehow it's funny, i don't know how to take it.

They're look so fucked up there but they're still great!

  • Oh god he was so gorgeous, as were we all!!

  • Yeah I was there.... But they did 2 gigs at Knebworth on two successive weeks. I assume they did this both weeks - is the other one on You Tube? That long ago I can't remember if this was the one I saw. Blew me away at the time, though.

And yes - I am old.

  • @janquen the other one is on youtube and it is considerably better so thats prob the 1 you saw

  • His solo in this performance was not as memorable as the ones in MSG or at Earls Court, your right PLACEOBgarbage, but does it matter, it's not like you could do better.

  • @jimmypage123455 yea anyway i like the ending of the song people coring and she´s buying a stariway to heaven..........

  • a disaster of solo

  • i think this time jimmy was playing some quickly

  • @PLACEBOgarbage me too.

  • I love the way they smile while playing. They're deep in their trip :)

  • quando musicos profissionais tocam juntos so podemos esperar essa qualidade!

  • Easy Jimmy, slow down. XD

  • That guitar Is a tone that make me happy :)

  • I do prefer the studio version that the live ones... Seems like Jimmy and Robert were kind of rusty...

  • Jimmy Page still KICKS any guitarist's ass even when he's high on heroin!

  • @bfv102290 THAT IS TOTALLY TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jimmy page can kickvany guitarists ass, even if he's 2,000 years old or on heroin or both

  • This bloke was out of him head this night.

  • i think

the older the music is, the better ti is

    soory for my english

  • best song ever Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever Page and Plant is the best

  • This was the first "proper" gig I ever saw. I was 15. It totally blew my mind. Now, with 30 years of guitar playing behind me, I watch Page playing and think ....WTF?!

  • Comment removed

  • Pagey plat it too fast. But I still love this performance.. as each they ever did...

  • the best song

  • funny thing is even when Page plays horribly like that, you still listen to him

  • Page is a god, any note he plays, it's the right note

  • ...normaly...but not on this gig....its a black day in his carrer....thats why he didnt want this concert to be released.....

  • i kinda know why they're playing dam fast.. try listening to this song every day and playing it.. when i first learned this on guitar, i quickly got tired of it after having many people ask me to play it..

  • you can all say what you want... good, bad, or indifferent , but i can say" I WAS THERE" and it was a great show from a great band and all 200,000 of us loved it

  • WOW i'm a fan of led zep but i'm 14 yrs old and i never see led zep and You You see it on 79 lol i was born at 1995 lol

  • Wow. Fail, but not 1983-level fail.

  • @xxFortunadoxx to be fair one of the 83 shows was better than this

  • Hopefully you're not referring to the one with Clapton and Beck. Because that was tragically bad.

  • all the 83 ones had them but i felt the one in RAH was better than this once the solo really got started

  • Comment removed

  • Whats with the awful disjointed solo.

  • why is robert singing so fast??? is he in a hurry?

  • they're drunk as fuck....

  • Way too fast. Its as if they just wanted to get this shit show over with.

  • wow

  • Wait he Jimy was high on herion on this live show?

  • yes thats why he was really sloppy this show, earls court 75 he plays amazing
