  • @CoRkSkr3w I will acquire the power of the dark side

  • this guys voice pisses me off!

  • @davinceg Easy remedy for that.......try another channel or video!

  • What size screwdriver are the screws on the jack? I've tried every size i own and i haven't been able to remove it.

  • what is each contact for ? especially the one thats alone.

  • @Express956 Hi

Not identified all the contacts but 3 will be audio and the remaining two for remote volume control/skip

  • @offmains thanks for the info.

  • Great video, you move fast & clean. Q. I have an iPod 2nd Generation that has the same type of contacts for the battery cable to main board. You mentioned not pulling out the solder pads on the board ... can you explain in a video maybe how to stick a solder pad back in, or worse case ... use solder in place of the solder pad. I'm assuming you would put flux on the board?

    Q. Also on a budget, looking at a Weller, what are the must have tip sizes for i* devices? 2mm, 0.2mm? Solder type?

  • Thank you so much for the info, what happen if I don't disconnect the battery?

  • @lapd1989 well you could cause a short plus it is always advisable to disconnect power before soldering., if you do not want to remove the battery just run the power out of the battery

  • Hi can u show me how to solder the power and vol button to the board on an iPod 4g touch?

  • @lapd1989 Hi, I have one to do this week, one tip to give you on the soldering of the power volume flex.....disconnect the battery first

  • Comment removed

  • pfft, way to break the cable. You use a large glob of solder, heat that up over all of the pins and then gently lift away the headphone jack.

  • @brainslay3r there are plenty of ways to do it, you sound like you know what you are doing but there are a lot that are not as fortunate with the knowledge, I use the same method too but like you I have the knowledge!

  • you sound like a robot.

  • so do you need two different types of guns one desolder and one solder? and what kind can you use? i dont want to buy a overly expensive one

  • @ibelievein30STM No, you can use desolder wick/braid or a desolder pump to remove the bulk of the solder.

As for the solder iron, as long as the tip is large enough and clean you should get a reasonable result.

  • Thankyou vary much this is just what i needed can i do this with just a cheap soldtering iron do yo think?

  • Very helpful, thanks :)
