  • how do you convert sounds onto a floppy disk from say another synth onto this machine ?

  • not bad!

  • where do you got this chords samples from? love this kind of deep sounds!

  • nice!

  • possible, it should go to Google and type "hxc emulator" then order the emulator and settle in machines compatible. otherwise he must go on "audiofanzine.fr" the blog explains everything but everything is in French. peace

  • Hi,

Great! And yes, I agree, the SP1200 is indeed perfect for ruff House grooves. You might want to check my video response, pure SP1200 Electro Hop.

    Peace,

    Lumanize

  • very nice. would you ever sell?

  • it has input quantize?

  • @petersedin

    yes

  • do sp's already have sound in them?? or are all the sounds from samples???

  • @miamiwax

mate it's a sampler and has no sound inside....

  • I am starting to think that these machines are being overhyped nowadays. I have hardware samplers and there is a certain something in the sound but once you use something like Kontakt, the ease of use and flexibility far exceeds any benefits that hardware has to offer. Combine this with 12bit libraries like Goldbaby 808 and MPC etc, and there is little reason to go hunting for this sort of kit. I don't like messing with floppy, zip, scsi or working with a small screen either.

  • @maccagrabme

i have more fun with hardware.... i use it software too btw

  • @maccagrabme man, these machines helped create a sound that no other machine or software can simulate or duplicate. i know im on a video about house music, but it helped make hip-hop what it is(or once was). its so raw and gritty sounding. nothing else can reproduce the dirtiness of the 1200. i know it may seam like a hastle to sample nothing but records and only having 10 seconds of sampling time, but the sound that comes out of it is worth it.

  • @rayss02815 I'm not knocking the historical importance or sound, I love that. What I am saying is that today's sound libraries and software can do 95% of what these machines can do and its so much easier. How many times are you going to sample an 808 or 909 when you can just pickup the Goldbaby library that has already been put through one of these samplers? I have hardware classic samplers but their days are numbered and they are collecting dust. Look at Ebay for proof.

  • @maccagrabme You are correct. They are overhyped. That's why these machines are resold so frequently. Software now does MUCH more than hardware and it does the job more precisely. However, using hardware is a lot of fun if you can deal with archaic shortcomings like floppy and SCSI.

  • @maccagrabme You're always trolling hardware videos, which makes me think you're jealous or something. I will admit that computer software like Kontakt is very powerful and easy to use, but what it comes down to is what inspires people to actually make music. Sitting in front of a computer screen is hella boring, but if it works for you, great. That means there's less people out there buying gear. More for me.

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Hi, I have two hardware samplers, a Roland S750 and Akai S5000, both technically and sonically great, I've also had a Casio FZ1, Akai S950, Roland DJ70 plus a few classic drum machines. I keep the hardware samplers because they look good and the sound is nice but even though I'm connecting them with scsi it is a PIA compared to software. The Akai even has usb which is cool but I've hardly touched them sadly. I will keep them though as they are classic.

  • @VincentsVideoVisions well said mate, i feel tired and lethargic trying to write trax on a computer, it's whatever works for you

  • nice.. I think you should make more SP 1200 house videos ;)

  • @cartesiaLive

    tnx!

  • I love the SP 1200!!

I had to sell mine because most of the buttons were about to die and I couldn´t pay the repair...

The funny thing was that I had a MPC60mk1 with all the upgrades before and tried to sell it again, because I decided to stay with my 4000, but nobody wanted to buy the 60!

Then someday I found a guy who traded the SP 1200 with the bad buttons for my 60,

and I got hundreds of requests from people who wanted to buy it immediately.

  • @NoizeGearIch

    yes overpiced right now

  • wow! this is badass, i love the melody. so simple, yet effective.

  • House isn't about a 909.

Its a groove and this is a nice beat. You just layer a percussive loop on top and away you go.

I really love these kind of short drum samples. Linndrum, Oberhiem DX for example. You can make house with them no problem.

  • cool house!

at last have you tried the su700? i ever wanted to try it.

    peace

  • I miss my sp12

  • Sweeeeeeet.

  • fresh ... nice stuff

  • Does this machine come with drum sounds or do you have to load outside samples into it?

  • You Have to Sample, 12 seconds at all..

  • Yeah thats House but with a HIP-HOp feel.. Sounds nice tho!!!!!

  • this isnt house, this is hip hop !!!!

to my ears, at least. props to deepeightyeight.

  • hip house? ;)

  • @lvngdead

this type of music is called filter house(french house)

  • @1masterme

    without filter?

  • YESS!!! im tired of SP1200 being put in the Hip Hop only category...

i have a SU700 and my next machine is gonna be the Sp1200

  • i discover this SU700 by yamaha basically now

tnx... is seems so old skool and cool...

this is sampler fever eh :)

  • @Jazzybreaks i find the SU700 to be very sp1200 like in it's design and work flow.

  • nice and warm... this machine is so fun to work with!

  • ehehe tnx mate! totally agree

  • More more more more! There are not enough videos with the SP doing house beats on the net..This machine was cained by Tod Terry
