Both hurt, but I'd still carry an actual Taser vs. a close-range stun gun or pepperspray. A taser can incapacitate at range and it truly incapacitates a person instead of just hurting them. Makes it physically impossible to do anything, and it's not like one can will themselves out of it. Tasers just make it easy to incapacitate someone, flip them over, and restrain them, while giving you the power to maintain control over the person.

I've owned several of the stun guns before and they are effective but they burn out on you too quick..They just don't last too long and then you are without and those were the MUSCLE MAN stun guns to...I'd say stick with pepper spray because its a much better buy with a better shelf life and at least it gives you a little distance between you and your attacker....

@deusXmchina Sorry, our advice is solid: kick him in the nuts, then zap him for 20 seconds with any stun gun, and he will go no where. And yes, he dropped after one touch of the stun gun, they do work, he was a paid model. And you have to hold it on him for at least 10-20 seconds, otherwise they get right back up.

If you were to do this, you would end up in jail. At whatever point you are no longer in danger of being killed, or greviously harmed, you are no longer legally able to use deadly force. If he is running away, he is no longer a threat, even if he still has a gun. I find this to be unfortunate, and fully support killing the asshole, but your purse is not worth spending time in jail over. If you can manage to shoot him in the struggle over your property when he pulls out a gun, GREAT!

A couple things you have to watch out for is whenever you use a stun-gun, it constricts the muscles around your chest making it hard to breath momentarily. But if you use both spray and stun gun, you get chest compression + vaso-constriction from the spray. Also I don't know all the different state laws are but in Wisconsin it's a felony to possess any type of taser/stun-gun.

Being trained and certified with both OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) and actual Pepper Spray, both can actually be lethal depending on the doses, as can a blast of that taser. The bad part is that if the subject is impaired by use of psychoactives, the parts of the brain that would normally react and send the person down is either subdued or causes a reverse action where the person lashes out. Having OC or pepper is a nice thought, but one should really be trained on them before using them.

During law enforcement training my class was sprayed with 15% OC and we had to fight/ secure weapon etc. Also, while working I personally sprayed someone and hit them in the mouth and had the spray spit back at me while the guy laughed. Pepper spray is suppose to be used from 5-12 feet. If the punk is grabbing your purse, yes, give it up. You use the spray before they get to you, though once they are upon you, it can either blow back in your face, or it can be taken from you. Proper training on how to use Pepper spray is vital, and as we said below, we are launching a whole new set of products focused on education. Defend Thyself!

The problem with pepper spray and stun guns has little to do with effectiveness/potency, but more to do with the preparadness of the victim. People become too reliant on objects or weapons for defense and fail to remain aware of their surroundings etc. Often times the victims have these devices used against them because they are not prepared to use them properly. Pepper spray is often times VERY ineffective to someone who is intoxicated or has a strong intent. I've seen it

You bring up good points, bring in the wrong place can be prevented, know your surroundings, though pepper spray to the eyes will shut them. It's the CS gas that sometimes wont' work. I guarantee with Saber or Spitfire, the #1 & #2 sprays, they won't be able to see for quite a will. Yeah if they are intent on killing someone, it won't stop you. You will need a gun or knife.

I have used Sabre on duty, as well as several others. My most reliable, from personal experience, is:

#1 Fox Labs. Most horrid shit on the planet

#2 Wildfire.

#3 Sabre

Any one of those and you have premium pepper spray. There are many others well worth your dollar, but those three I have used on duty and I can verify that they work. Good luck, and hope ya never need it.

The rule of thumb is that about 1% of the population has little or no reaction to pepper spray. That's 1% of the "normal" "sober" population. I have used pepper spray against a few people, and all it has ever done is distract the person long enough for me to use a different technique. More than likely, the blowback from the spray will have a greater effect on the user, than the target, if the target is high, drunk, or crazy...it's important to train with it...that means gettin' hit with it...

Thanks, though our new camera is much clearer. That's a small 1/2 oz size, about 6 good squirts. We suggest using the entire contents in the face of the mug trying to ruin your day. Aim for the eyes and mouth, or ears. That stuff burns like bad sunburn and if you can get it in the eyes, they will stop what they are doing. Foggers are also good so they can breath in the molten fire air.

That's a 2 oz I believe, and they come bigger & smaller. It's an orange color, so it's easy to see where it's going. Hopefully not in the wind back to you! You must make sure the wind is not blowing in your face, or you will feel it too...
