@rwf121202 I grew up watching Glen Ford movies as a kid-i must have seen 3:10 to Yuma a dozen times-they would show it all the time on the late show-He was a very good actor-
christian bale and russell crowe are good actors but glenn ford van heflin and richard jaeckel outclass them all the way. the original was THE movie. the remake was okay but love the first one.
@0neofthem The remake was a joke! I was very excited to learn that a remake was being made when I saw it I laughed through about half of it. It is true that I am very hard on movies but give me a break.
The things that made the original great are; The music, Glenn Ford, Van Heflin, Richard Jackal, Henry Jones, the music, the way the old towns were represented (bars with little or no people in them, streets that are empty. People that lived the hard life.... Look for continued comments...
@altaboyd That is the way they were.) did I mention the music. I do not think that any movie has ever used music any better than this one, and the script was superb. I am 55 years old and for about 45 of them I called this the best western that was ever made. (the most unrealistic part in the original was Ben and the bar girl. But saying that, the lines in that part of the movie were very good)
The remake was so unrealistic in so many ways... look for more comments...
@altaboyd I saw it several years ago and hope that I never have to watch it again. Come on Peter Fonda getting shot at close range in the gut and the next day he is on a horse riding across the country????? Ever here of a guy named Harvey Oswald??? The ending was so dumb. Ben kills his whole gang, people he trusted with his life for years and years, for a guy who just met. A guy who is taking him to Jail... look for more comments...
@altaboyd . Yes I understand that Ben was seeing the world in a new light but come on! There were many other things that were so dumb that I really don’t even try to remember. I will say that I have never saw a remake that had so many of the same exact lines from the original in it. I know the original lines very, very good. And over and over the new one used them. Like I said the Script was excellent in the original.
I am sill looking for the movie version of the song 3:10 to Yuma on CD.
The original was better but both are great films. I've been a big christian bale fan for years but you don't have to read up on the character too much to see that he was miscast.
The original film is still the best! Van Heflin and Glenn Ford were both excellent in this classic! Some trivia... what were the names of the actors who played the members of Ford's outlaw gang?
the newer one is cooler because for one it didnt look fake and russle crow is way better being wade over whats his face. russle kicking ass as he does in life
I like how you put a modern edge to it. The trailers for these movies usually have no talking and they just have sentences like "SHOCKING" "DARING" "ROMANTIC" I love the movies from 30s/40s/50s but I CAN'T stand the trailers!
there s plenty of good western. This one seems good image of qualuty. Personaly Ilike very nuch The man who shoot liberty Valance;with Ford and John Wayne I Think
I think 3:10 to Yuma is actually the best Remake I have ever seen. And I mean ever. Crowe and Bale are amazing and the way they show more of the journey to Contention plays very well!
are you sure it was the best remake ever? I really thought The Shaggy Dog with Tim Allen was the best... XD Fuck! jk That movie sucked balls. 3:10 to Yuma is a great movie everyone. Outstanding.
oh yeah, definitely one of my favorite categories of music, Western. I loved Unforgiven, the original Alamo, Blazing Saddles lol, Few Dollars More, Good, Bad, Ugly, the Big Country, of course now this movie, and the list just continues. Westerns are an authentic American classic.
I had a look at Jonathan Cook's website, but I couldn't listen to any of his promos or commercials, because I don't have ( and don't intend to download ) Real Player or Winamp Media Player.
I made this trailer durrent our current millenium (I think it was around late 2000). The voice your hear in this trailer is Jonathan Cook. He's one of the top VO guys in Hollywood. I did a bunch of Western trailers with him. I will post more in the near future.
Very nicely done trailer, sir. I want to see the movie anyway but this trailer peaks my interested further. I was planning on buying the DVD this weekend, any thoughts or comments on the film?(I'm completely referring to the Glenn Ford and Van Heflin film. The remake is the best film of 2007).
Thanks! I think the film is pretty good. It's not a classic like THE SEARCHERS or THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, but it's an engaging western. Ford is great as usual.
Well, thanks, but I did have some help in putting this together. I was the creative director on this trailer. I supervised the script, produced and co-edited it and supervised the sound mix with some talented people. We tried to make it look like an older trailer when we did it, which was actually around the year 2000.
My Tia actually has this movie, and ive been wanting to see this one. I saw the remake the second day it came out and i thought it was really good! Now i want to watch the original

The movie wasn't actually half bad for the time. The preview makes it look like a mel brooks movie though haha.

something about this movie sounds so dang modern...it must be the narrator of the trailor, they still use him for movie trailor narration!

His name is Jonathan Cook.

@heusker I think this isn't the original narration for the trailer. There is no way.

Hmmmmm.... I read your comments further down, and it's obviously not the original 1957 trailer.
Plus I just realized they didn't use those 'Clint Eastwood' type voices for narration on trailers back in 1957.

Well done filmbuff. Was that the actual trailer shown in cinemas back in 1957 ?
I'm inclined to agree with Storm. The remake is ok, but I still prefer the original, including the theme song by Frankie Laine.
