I heard on the radio today Hawking has visited a house of ladies in California some time in the past 5 years. Supposedly this was confirmed by Cambridge. For one I doubt the accusation. For two, if I liked him before the revelation then I like him even more now. Shame on those who would bring this to the light of day assuming the accusation is correct. Nonetheless, keep up the good work SH.

I have an example of how Stephen Hawking is wrong. From what I remember, he favors the most popular big bang theory, which says that the universe just happened for no reason at all, and will continue to expand away from the gravity of itself, ending in massless particles flying around forever. The expansion of the universe is caused by light particles from ancient stars causing propulsion. Black holes will eventually suck in all this light and each other back into a big crunch.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

The largest scientific consensus is that the universe is expanding due to dark energy forcing the universe to expand at an accelerating rate. This is proven by actual visible observation.

Additionally the gravitational pull of black holes is not special, they pull the same as any star, the only difference is that the pull is concentrated and accelerates infinitely at the event horizon. Meaning black holes cant cause a crunch.

The sound quality of Errol Morris' film is really bad on here. The voices of Hawking's associates and family, not to mention the excellent score by Philip Glass, is too muffled and tinny.

I hope The Science Foundation seeks out and uploads a cleaner copy of this documentary – it deserves better treatment.

If it's a generally relativistic universe, then there are three kinds of spatial configurations allowed, and which one represents our universe depends on its average mass-energy density. this is pure philosophy and not to be confused with science; if motion and size are relative, is it not fair to suggest that time is also relative? this has big implications. perhaps our tiny universe existence during an explosion inside another universe, and yet this explosion has been going on for billions of years for us, and maybe only a fraction of a second on a higher dimensional plane. perhaps our universe is traveling the speed of light now in a larger univers and we don't even know it
