My Dad found the one his friend gave him and let me play it a bit...once I clean and restring it, I'll lock it in a safe inside a bunker guarded by robots in the center of the Earth. Because I love mine that much :)
I also like the finish - no nonsense and workmanlike - the odd knock here and there is nothing to worry about! I've other more expensive guitars but get so much fun out of my junior.
@ox092 these will never do what a two pup guitar will do! However they are awesomely good guitars and not expensive. Great for blues, punk and edgy rock. A must buy.
i think i'll get one of these. might be a good amp to string in nashville/highstrung. lots of old country and the rolling stones use that tuning. if you're into roots i suggest checking it out! much thanks for the video friend and God bless
how do the p90's do on noise level? im thinking of installing one into my guitar and i have heard that the noise hum can be very loud, if so any suggestions on noise cancelling or overall suggestions on brands or anything? i play in a leslie west mountain style.
Awesome!!!! that things gotta be worth some money! LOL My first guitar was a epiphone jr. Still mt favorite guitar and i got a LP standard and a SG classic. Wrap-around bridges are the BEST!!!!!
im a blues man , and someone bring me a les paul jr billie joe and at the begin i have doubts about the guitar but when i played it GOSH ! its awesome, a great feeling guitar . very nice de h90 the sound its worm and i love the guitar.
I think this video does not do the guitar and amp justice, thin and buzzy sound, but as you mentioned you were testing the cam. I absolutely love the sound an playing on your other videos with the junior. I wonder how you get those fat tones with the bridge pickup only. I play a P-90 guitar too but use 90% neck, wish someone would build a "reverse junior", neck pickup only.
This guitar is so much worth.. and I want it sooooo bad.. I have the Junior Billie Joe Armstrong with the H-90 pickup, and yours has a P-90, not much difference, but I really want one, that's already damaged, 'cause it looks cool
@Guitarvirtuoso666 i have an epiphone g 400 (SG) but i guess the lp jr sounds more because its a gibson while epi has hamburckers of less quality than its gibson counterpart. The lp jr. is for beginners but proved to be also for pro or established bands (Johnny Thunders, late 70s punk). I guess, but do you think lp jr. is a louder and more versatile guitar than epiphones (les paul standard/custom, g-400, etc)?
Lol with reference to that post about the Billie Joe Junior: That custom line is a terrible guitar! I played one before I bought my 2009 junior, and i'm glad i stuck with the original Gibson. The BJ model just doesn't feel right, you can't beat a real p90 with that nice big chunky neck. Wonderful guitar.
i hav a ES-335 ebony custom , is the les paul jnr better? cos i am a bit uncertain of the 335? i play any style of music but mainly rythem blues, {SRV sorta thing} and led zep, but any style, give me some advice?!
man shitty blues crap my ass....well at least ur not advocating the castrated fruity alternative of late. u should look up hound dog taylor "wild about you baby" specificly think u might like it
dude the blues is badass! there would be no Green Day w/o the Sex Pistols, there would be no Sex Pistols w/o the Who, there would be no Who w/o Chuck Berry and there would be no Chuck Berry w/o BB King aka CHICAGO BLUESMAN! Rock, be it punk, metal, emo, alternative whatever has roots in blues
@jorghad6@alohastewie we all know that rock music comes from blues, that's obvious. But i understand when some guy like @Maximusstriker says "shitty blues crap", blues nowadays turn out to be a sad competition between guitarists to see "who plays the better solo/riff etc". THAT'S NOT WHAT BLUES IS ABOUT.
Get some bluesman like R.L. Burnside, he was very bad at guitar, but his songs were fuckin' great, and his "trashy playin' " give the songs some weird-but-elegant vibe.
@Maximusstriker dude im not dissing billie joe but his songs are like three or four chords each. and if you're a guitarist you should know and respect that your roots in blues
@Maximusstriker youre joking right? lmao. I love greenday, but billie joe couldnt play his way out of a paper bag.I have no idea how he convinced gibson to give him a $1400 custom shop guitar lol
Thanks again for all the kind comments - Gibson Juniors really are wonderful guitars. Don't let one pass you by and don't think you need an old one to get that sound. Because you don't.
Had to watch this back to work out what you mean. The pots are all original, no on/off switches or anything. The click sound is actually the very resonant body amplfying the small noise made when I tune the volume or tone knob to 10!! Crazy eh? An amazing guitar.
You get some wonderful tones from that guitar. I'm old enought to remember seeing those new, in my fav. store. They were about 132.50 US. Not very sexy, so I would walk right by them to the Standards. Who was to know how desirable they'd be 50 years later!

les paul jr. or sg standard? In Peru both are expensive (Jr. less), but not so as a Les Paul Standard or Custom...i'm referring to Gibson
FrancoDamn 1 year ago
@FrancoDamn
Depends on it,
in my opinion, I would not buy a les paul jr If I didn't already had an other guitar like a strat or an sg.
The les paul jr on it's own wouldn't provide me the versatility I need.
If you already have another guitar you could give the Jr. A try.
PS: be very careful when buying a gibson. Try it first!!
At this time, I have borrowed an Explorer from a friend,
It's beyond belief how badly it's made for a so called premium brand guitar!
Guitarvirtuoso666 1 year ago
@Guitarvirtuoso666 i have an epiphone g 400 (SG) but i guess the lp jr sounds more because its a gibson while epi has hamburckers of less quality than its gibson counterpart. FrancoDamn 1 year ago
Hmmm,
I wouldn't trust the brandname gibson to much really. For the moment, I have a Gibson explorer that I've borrowed from a friend.
It's a 1500 dollar guitar, but it's very badly made, it's a real disgrace!
The G string pops out of the nut if you do a tough bend, the finish is badly done, and one of the tuning pegs isn't parallel with the others.
Now I'm talking about a reissue Gibson, what will it be with the budget friendly gibsons?
Guitarvirtuoso666 1 year ago
@FrancoDamn
I know a possible alternative for you:
A schecter solo special.
Schecter is known for it's insane instruments at low price points.
A Schecter Solo special is a LP jr design.
It has two SEYMOUR DUNCAN pickups, A coil tappable humbucker and a NOISELESS p-90.
plus a tune o matic bridge, and a graph tech nut;)

What is it that happens when you get the "click" sound from the vol and tone knobs?
Are they some kind of special pots that you can disconnect from the circuit by turning them all the way past the "click"?
Sounds amazing!! Thanks for letting the rest of us know how that old axe sounds.
