@ToaJoe You being a "former Metallica fanboy" I'm surprised you didn't know that Dave getting kicked out of Metallica is what really motivated him, constantly trying to outdo Metallica has pretty much been his entire career. And Dave is a very intelligent, talented, motivated and as a result has been successful in his own right. But saying some Metallica is painful to listen to is completely ignoring a chunk of Megadeth's song catalog. Most of the bad one's qualify as laughable to me.

@ToaJoe Weird, I thought they've stepped up their live performances quite a bit by adding Rob, and they've also changed their set-list and have been playing more of their old shit. And really, at this point i'm surprised they're even out there touring at nearly 50 years old, playing (nearly) as fast and loud as they did when they were pups. I give them loads of credit for that.  Mustaine has pretty much had a different lineup for each album since RISK, kind of an unfair comparison...
