  • Even Bharatanatyam was once used by devadasis, basically they took away the heritage from the devadasis and made it chaste and purely spiritual. Maybe they can do it with lavni too

  • Get the audio from this track at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • wow! super danc! & tnx soooooooo much for information about lavani...

  • AWESOME :)

  • My friend is black and Indian (don't ask), but her mom, who is black, is from some Caribbean island, I think. Maybe Trinidad? Ah, well. This is very nice. :)

  • I love the bells they wear on their ankles. I want some. I love the music that dancing with the props of sound brings. Thank you, sir, for posting this beautiful video of your turf.

  • @mermaidcandy you mean the gunguroo bells

  • thaksai lavani

    STUPIDS!

  • eret

  • get a life uzzietruth

  • I love how the dance moves are so well thought out and graceful. And the Cloths have so beautifuly made thanks for posting it

  • bakwaas

  • zhakaaas

  • this dance has none of the finesse or beauty of bharatanatyam, Odissi, or Kuchipudi....

  • but.....this is a folk dance. and those are

    classical. how can one compare?

  • @bina1rani lavni isn't necessarily folk... its more a stylised form of katthak (from the foot work and all)... folk dances can be done by everyday people... dances like lavni are only performed in venues and for audiences...

  • Ya. It's from Maharashtra. One of the great Lavni dancer is Surekha Punekar. Don't miss her program if you get the chance. 100% entertainment gauranteed.

  • what is a lavni dance? is it from maharahstra? it does not look like a folk dance, though.

  • I am Gujarat and this is God Damn munjara dance or the dance of Hookers, this is not a folk dance.

Calling it folk dance is an insult to Maharastra people and their culture.

  • Because it is sensual doesnt make it dance of hookers. Besides hookers are folk too : )Maharastra 'people' should relax.

  • Can you watch this while sitting with your mother and daughter. This is club dance not family entertainment. You need to relex.

  • Its much better to watch this with family than

K serials adoring polygamy and extra-marital relationship.

  • @nitin1947 Monogamy in India = lifelong rigorous imprisonment imposed upon majority of the population.

  • @NathuramSweetsay Leave India then !

  • @serpent7700 No, I'd rather proliferate hedonism and thus oppose the age old marriage institution ! HA-HA !

  • @savita1926 i'm pretty sure there are many good families that send their daughters for learning lavni... its a dance form and it can be as suggestive as u want it to be... same as katthak, it can be used as a mujhra or as an elegant abhinay... u dont need to pass comments if u dont know much about culture... lavni is just as hard to learn as any other classical dance form... its the most extensive in footwork (even more than katthak)...

  • Terrible video editing. You can never see the dancer's whole body for more than a second, so it's impossible to really follow the dance. Totally amateur.

  • thanks for putting lavani here. I was searchin for it long time.

  • haha "raising money shouldnt be so difficult"...true

  • Thank you for uploading this! I enjoy the Indian arts.

  • cool!

  • thx to see this video keep it up
