  • Their kingdom should be FINE, I mean all the guards are MegaMan! :P

  • Thats what she said!

  • i love the Evil Dead references

  • That Star war reference came out of nowhere!

  • Wtf? Bosses actually vulnerable to status ailments? This is a first. And I learn this 10 years after beating this game :-p

  • Insomniac was a great show. I know someone who worked on it.

  • ! I just realised how detailed the background for the mountian's summit is!

  • I wish they'd show insomniac on Comedy Central again...

  • About recognising Faris' gender... perhaps she dresses more... revealingly after the truth comes out?

  • That Star Wars episode 5 clip was so funny great job HCBaily

  • ...The room Lenna sleeps in looks ALOT like Cecil's room...Coincidence?

  • HCBailly, whatever happened to "HI-YOHHH!"? I miss it in your more recent LP's.

  • i lold when luke cried "NOOOOOO!!!"

  • You mean you don't carry rope and steaks around?

  • Heh a princess as a pirate. Wouldn't be the first time I've heard of that in a video game.

  • Hmm, Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference at 3:42?

  • They forgot to make Forza immune to confusion, too. So you can have him help you in killing Magisa, who is immune to Mute.

Oh, breaking an Ice Rod is an instant kill for them too.

They made a lot of bosses incredibly easy by accident, didn't they?

  • @OtherRealmer (correction) Magisa is NOT immune to Mute/Silence.

  • the dragon ate the herb...all of it yes?....then it healed leena..with the herb..did he throw it up?

  • ok...so I clicked on this video and found there was commentary, and I thought, oh great! But I have to admit, it's pretty interesting...

  • The old man probably has some rohynale

  • hmm, my strategy is to unequip all weapons and give everyone barehanded for a secondary skill, I only use weapons with twohanded or a duel wield spec like ninja

  • Hmm, I'm surprised that you didn't mention that you're BlueMage can learn Aero1 from Magisa, you're usually on top of little tid-bits like that. Still a great LP, though.

  • Hahahaha! You handled that fight way better than I did XD I started playing this in around September-October ish...didn't get around to playing it until now-ish, when I did this boss fight I messed up completely XD It was funny! I happened to fluke it through every single boss fight...until Soul Cannon :D Great video :3

  • Shrek, I'm lookin down!

  • You are a old man xD

  • this is a weird version original is always better and im not talking about the japanese original i dont speak japanese

  • it's good to know other people like Evil Dead/Army of Darkness too

  • @HCBailly

(About Magisa's knowledge of Faris' gender)

I tihnk it's because she told everyone she was aguy, but since she never met Magisa (we suppose), she recognized her as a female.

That's probably why some characters along the game also call her a female.

  • You gotta love the movie clips in these vids :D

  • I'm sure this was already mentioned, but no, women in the military are not addressed as "sir." I hope you were joking :P

  • @IWubYooz well i can understand why he would say that because in most movies and games women in the military are thought of as masculine so the men refer to her as sir instead of ma'am

  • hi - potion should be called high - potion because it makes you high. evem higher than giygas.

  • even not evem

  • When doing the Goblin Punch with a BlueMage, do you have to be the same level as the enemy for it to be really effecting ? cuz my Gpunch aint near the dmg as yours is O_o

  • @MrSantiClawz Yes, when at the same level, your damage is multiplied by 8.

  • @HCBailly holy crap

  • My goblin punch isn't nearly as effective, what am I doing wrong?

  • Maybe she's got xray vision... OR Faris stopped binding her boobs or somthing... >_>

  • a pendant proving that a pirate captain is a princess?

no... that doesn't happen until Zelda Wind Waker

  • Chrono Trigger Reference FTW!

  • Magisa had a whip? :P

  • i love him...

  • i love in the advance version when bartz says "What are you all laughing at?" Galuf's response is "Your face. Lets go kiddo"

  • I love whenever you find a secret passage you go "HEYOOOOOOO!"

  • I think the two cabins are not included to the 100% thing because, on mine, I went to Warus first, and let the pickwolf or whatever go, and then I went here, and both of them were taken with the note of saying he'd been here.

  • The second sexy female boss. :P

  • I know this is off topic but HC reminded me of Chrono Trigger and I was just wandering,is there anyway to prove yourself innocent in the trial of the game?

  • sure, just don't mess up and help that kid with the kitty out...you'll still get arrested for 3 days though but the chancellor still says you're going to be executed...so there is not much of a point ^^

  • wow.. 2 hours into the game and you get air travel!

  • 9:37 ---> Capital Python quotation, HCB :-)

  • He is afraid of heights, yet he walked across a rope over a seemingly large cliff

  • Nice Chrono Trigger referance at 6:43!

  • As horrible as the Anthology translation is, I give them credit both for spelling Magissa's name correctly and for making her dialogue mildly interesting. In this translation, Magissa's lines read like they were written by a five-year-old.

  • BAH HAHAHAHA!

That intro was so funny! Expected that SO much from some cliche DBZ episode. xP

  • I think it's funny how the characters wave for no reason. :P

  • I missed those two cabins, so I came back to get them. Unfortunately, there was a note in both of the treasure chests that read: "Lonewolf the pickpocket was here." I shouldn't have let that fuzz head out of jail!

  • 1:05 I like to see it as, Faris being worried about Lenna, and don't feel like dying herself yet, so that she just catches on to wall on the way down.

3:25 I don't thonk its that unlikely that Pirates could have a rope on them, for tools and such, as for the sticks, maybe they're supposed to be pointy rocks she found while falling down.

Ahh... 16 Bit animation. We'll never know.

Unless of course they remake it for the DS/PSP.

  • 8:41 made me laugh so freaking hard!

  • S-Mart!

After years of languising in obscurity, status ailments made a bit of a comeback in usefulness in FFXII.

I love the first "airship" in this game.

The girls' matching hair color makes a lot of sense with this sudden revelation.

  • it took me twice as long on this 1st boss battle, because my maxhit is like 150.. my gob. punch does only like 60,.

  • "How did Magisa instantly recognize Faris as being female when EVERYONE ELSE IN THE GAME, recognized Faris as being male?"

Well, don't you remember HCBailey? Bartz and Gaful had to take off a few of her clothes first, which means that she was probably wearing a disguise previously.

  • I remember that movie! I wish I could remember what it's called, I really want to see it again.

  • You mean Army of Darkness...that one was hilarious, to bad I can't find the first 2 on TV

  • Too gory for regular TV

  • actually no women in the military are referred to as maam but only officers

  • SInce most women in the military are lesbians - i suppose they like being called "sir", lol

  • eh the lesbians are just hard to spot ive done my dance in the military id rather not discuss it on hc's lp though im sure he doesnt want that stuff on here

  • Love the Chrono Trigger "False Trial" reference, lol.

  • lmao @ the suprise empire strikes back clip

  • i think the reason those treasures don't contribute to the percentage is because if you go to Walse first and free Lone Wolf from the jail and THEN go to get them, they'll be empty with a note inside saying "Lone Wolf the Pickpocket was here!"

  • lol Chrono Trigger Reference 8D

I rally miss playing that game~

So need to beck to it after tales of Destiny... and FF6 :P

  • lol Bartz fell out the bed rofl

  • shop smart shop s smart

  • we will protect are lifes with are lifes

    lol

  • Hee hee hee, HCBailly wants to "keep the whip for later."

  • Did you make a Trilby's Notes refrence at 10:09 ?

  • I was referencing how Yuffie was asking for a Tranquilizer in FF7, my LP prior to this one.

  • Lol Chrono Trigger jokes

  • ya know HCbailly i noticed that magisa calls faris a girl in this version when she falls off the mountain, yet in the advanced version magisa says and i quote "Oops, I guess he slipped. Pity." lol wow re-translation lol

  • ROFL at 8:42!!!

  • LOL Chrono Trigger reference.

  • love your let's play's.. keep up the final fantasy games. i wanna see em all! :D

  • when you said Chancellor I was like "PLEASE DON'T SAY IT'S YAKRA!!!" Then you brought up the CT ref, that is AMAZING... for some random reason...

  • That first minute is the reason why I favorited this video. I asked the same question!

  • hahaha chrono trigger...

  • I just commented about that in the last video!

  • Magisa actually refers to Faris as a guy in the Advance translation.

  • sorry for double post but i meant to say this aswell,i killed her before her summon

  • I figured out using focus as a monk will deal 200 both times against this boss

  • And often times such falls will actually save characters from otherwise mortal wounds.

  • Bartz is afraid of heights? What kind of crap is this?!

The Figaro Chancellor's a good man, what are you talking about?

    Dave Attell FTW!

  • Sister ?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Roflmao!

  • Hahahahaha... Chrono trigger reference.... xDDDD

  • I think someone needs to make a list of these standard rules of roleplaying games

  • I think there *is* a list, somewhere. I remember reading it, though I don't recall what it was called. Try searching for RPG cliches, or something. Google is like an oracle for stuff like this.

  • project-apollo[dotnet]/text/rpg.html

The Grand List Of Console Role Playing Game Clichés.

    Rule #1

Sleepyhead Rule - AKA "Good Morning Crono"

The teenaged male lead will begin the first day of the game by oversleeping, being woken up by his mother, and being reminded that he's slept in so late he missed meeting his girlfriend.

  • Haha, I remember HCBailly quoting this during the Let's Play FFVII series:

    Nostradamus Rule

All legends are 100% accurate. All rumors are entirely factual. All prophecies will come true, and not just someday but almost immediately.

  • Lol @ the Chrono Trigger reference.

  • Or maybe someone gave her the amulet that someone stole from the guy that stole it from the kid that found it under her bed

  • Yea it kinda sucks that status ail.. ai... ..attacks! Are pretty useless against most bosses.

  • I didn't even hear anything in the video for a minute and 30 seconds after Luke 'cause I was laughing too much. But yeah, it seems that status ailments really are a tour de force for this game.

  • When you mean more is yet to come for status ailments, do you mean Level Halve on Atomos? :D

  • HcBailly remember it takes on to know one so naturally she'd know faris was a girl or something like that. =)

  • haha i love the chrono trigger reference

  • HC Bailly, are you going to be using a certain class's claw of death to make boss battles ridiculously easy?

  • I'll mention it, but may or may not decide to use it, depending on the situation.

  • ... You know, I almost forgot about that Chancellor in Chrono Trigger. XD

  • "Sister.... So you have a twin sister...." Oh well. One good Star Wars quote deserves another.

  • Nice Star Wars clip. Sister? "Nooooooooooooo....." LOL

  • I'd forgotten how cool the music is when you're flying on the Hiryuu. Maybe not quite as good as the Highwind theme in terms of making you feel like you're really flying, but still really good in that aspect.

I thought HC was going to use "So..you have a twin sister!" in that part..I wasn't *too* far off..

  • Hey, Magisa is kind of a looker!

  • The Dragon's gonna eat Lenna...

    lol, Great Job HCBailly!

  • Why can't these people sleep!?

  • Just a small clue, HCBailey. You're playing a fan translated version, so that's why the translation is funny. Of course, real translations are like that sometimes too, but that's the reason I believe.

  • Kick the sandman in his sac!

  • cool! thanks for uploading!

looking foward to the next :)

  • I was just playing the Advance version of this and Magissa said "Oops, I guess he slipped. Pity." Maybe it was a mistake on the translator's part?

  • Remember, you can never get a free night's stay. There's always a cutscene or something.

I'd think you would've learned this by the time you got through Final Fantasy IV.

  • in this game a stay at the inn in lix is always free. why because its bartz inn.

however you dont get free night stays at galufs castle which makes nooooooo sense

  • yeah, or some jerk (often the inn's owner) decides to steal your gold/Gil/etc. while you're sleeping.

  • I don't think I ever found those cabins before :)

  • I think Fairs got that rope, stake, and two mallets from her infinitely deep pockets. You know, where we stuff everything else, including objects the size of cruise ship anchors.

  • Recognizing Faris as a woman must be woman's intuition

  • hey HCBAILLY if its possible, can you sometime in the future please do any of the following (if possible) : FFIX, FFX, FFXII

  • Is there an efficient emulator that can play the last two?

  • im not sure, but if there is thank the lord :)

  • Not efficient enough.

It is SO LAGGY, but HC could use a capture card and record ACTUAL gameplay from a PS2 copy of the game

  • pcsx2 can but ur processor has to be dual core an at least 3ghz for full speed

  • Interesting how in both this game and FFVI the fourth boss is a tough human character (with dialogue) fought on a mountain.

  • How did you learn L.3 White? Did I just not notice Magisa or Forza cast it? I watched the battle again just to make sure, but I didn't see anyone cast it on you. You aren't even a multiple of 3 level.

  • That was Lenna gaining another job level. It's her Level 3 ability. I suppose I should go over magic levels at some point in time.

  • Oh bahaha. For some reason for a moment I thought L.3 White was a Blue magic spell.

  • Excellent Review, Please Continue. I hope you can get all the Blue Magic And Summons Will you??

  • That is Magisa's husband? :< I would feel sorry for Lenna if she was his "present".

  • Ya know i really like your style on LPs ive been watching all yours since about 1 pm yesterday nonstop. really looking forward to seeing what else youll do after this.

  • 8:42 - Sister? No! NOOOOOOOOOO!

    XD!

  • I'm sure you already know but going to castle Tycoon later on after a certain event gives you a different scene later on... although it's probably better to go sooner rather than later for the items here.

  • Women in the military are addressed as ma'm...or however you spell it. They will beat you up if you call them sir :(

  • I thought I heard otherwise, but I could have heard wrong. I remember asking about it when in Star Trek 2, someone addresses Lieutenant Saavik as "sir", even though she is female.

  • I like it when they get all confused and go "Yes, sir, ma'am, sir!" ^_____^

  • You can not have TOO fun with a LP.

  • Truth.

  • The more I do these, the more fun I have with them, regardless of how good the game actually is.

  • So far I'm really enjoying FF5. It actually seems like a *fantasy* rpg, unlike most of the others I've seen.

  • 0:26 I was going to say that in the last ep., too! Magisa recognizing Faris as a "she"!

1:15 and I was always wondering where do the sticks for tying rope comes from?

Bartz's so cute when saying he's afraid of height.

Interesting secret passage in the castle!

  • Status ailments are semi-useful in FF4DS, sometimes...

  • semi-useful sometimes... with that combination it makes me feel they are absolutely worthless for 99.7% of the game :P

  • status effects are extremely useful in FFXII and perhaps they are the absolute key to winning most of the rare hunt battles

  • Lol at Star Wars. XD

  • In the GBA version, Magissa still refers to Faris as 'he'.

  • For me, looking up is way worse than looking down! XD

  • Nice job at the boss fight that was very well done and you did make a good point at the start there 5/5! Nice stratergy for the boss! COOL you get to ride a DRAGON! A Chrono Trigger reference nice! I really want this game now the music and characters are great! I'm glad that you enjoy this LP HCBaily! YAY treasure!

  • i like the title of this eppisode.(did you intentinaly put tit that way) because it is also the theme of the hyriu in flight.

  • Yeah, I love it when he names an episode after the music that plays in it. However, if I remember correctly, we won't be hearing a new song in the game for quite a bit, now. And this next song I believe is only played in that part of the game and nowhere else.

  • U rock!

    Nice vid HC

    5/5

  • HC, I know the FF6 LP is on its way, so I want to finish it first so I can play it without a guide, but I can't find a rom that's free, without the need for registering for a site, that's in English, which rom are you going to use and where can I get it?

  • If the Hiryuu can't fly over mountains, how did it get to the place you found it from?

  • Lol CT reference.

Chancellor: Bartz, Fortune tempted you did it it not? Bartz: No That was Faris.

  • i was an insomniac when i played a lot of RPGs, i only watch LPs of them now lol

  • I never knew about that secret cutscene until now.

  • Final. Fantasy. F A W V!

  • Priorities in RPGs:

    1. Get items from randomly placed treasure chests.

    2. Do side quest to get more items.

    3. Beat optional bosses for even more items.

    4. Save the world! eventually...

  • ...When you have all the items! :D

  • Exactly, always plunder first.

  • The world can save itself on its own time.

  • Oh, you mean like when the lifestream in Final Fantasy VII stopped Meteor by itself.

Gee, thanks alot planet for making us go through all that work.

  • Actually that was exactly what Sephiroth wanted to happen. He intended to be there when the lifestream came and to take it for himself. But since you killed him, he couldn't do that.

  • Bartz's fear of heights is repeated in FF6, with Locke's Sea Sickness. Both of which are hilarious.

  • And then in FFVII, with Cloud's claustrophobia.

  • I don't believe it is claustrophobia.. I believe it is just motion sickness.

  • Watch episode #97 of HCBailly's FFVII LP. =P I'm pretty sure it's claustrophobia.

  • I like your use of the title, as it's the name of one of the tracks from the OST.

  • 0:20-0:35

you do have a good point

  • man the boss battles look fun, I wanna play this game. I wish they had the blue mage job in final fantasy tactics as well.
