  • Its weird how Barney and Hooky called this stuff god awful in retrospect, really does show that even the 'worst' things they did were fucking fantastic, certainly better than modern music... and music of their time too pretty much.

  • Warsaw is probably the coolest name for a city in the entire world.

  • Best version by far. I was lookin' for this; thanks.

  • Warszawa !

  • played this one so loud mate that the bassline was making my bloody teeth chatter

  • @tetrahydroscope I saw* is what i meant to write

  • @blocpartyband07 babys have huge heads buddy, if urs was small that makes sense

  • who is doing the vocals?

  • @deadbunndeadbunn Ian Curtis?

  • This is better than the version they do for Joy Division.

  • one of the most originasl band ever

  • asdf

  • I think this song is about the Nazi Einzatsgruppen (German death squads) who operated on the Eastern front in the early 1940's indiscriminately killing innocent men, women and children. Many of the killers were normal everyday family men. Great song. What age was Ian when he wrote this? 20? 21? Astonishing maturity...

  • don't forget WARSAW SAW WAR

  • Warsaw is much more raw than when they recorded as Joy Division. You can hear more of the punk influences.

  • Dont make em like this anymore

  • Best version.

  • Need educate here?

Also, the version recorded under the moniker of Joy Division, in my opinion is better. I do understand that they had the same members and played alot of the same songs, however, their sounds are slightly different from each other.

  • I still like the Joy Division version better. In my opinion, JD is better than Warsaw.

  • I like this version a bit more then the Still version. This is the essence of cool. Sounds more punkish.

  • Same here.

  • lol?

  • shut up asshole!!!

  • Do you guys ever heard the Drunk Injuns version for this song?

  • yep, it's on frontside grind. i found a copy of it on vinyl and ripped it to cd. perfect song for them to cover. fits in with the entire album.

  • Everyonegive that mortikaye a mouthful of abuse, he cant get away with saying that about IC

  • You'd best be joking. The lyrics are one of the main reasons I like Joy Division/Warsaw so much.

  • They carried pictures of their wives,

And numbered tags to prove their lives

    "genius"

  • Go listen to some songs like: Atrocity Exhibition, A Means To An End, Shadow Play, and Wilderness.

    -

If you can't appreciate those lyrics, I'd like to know which ones you do.

  • what about Insight?

  • I see where you're coming from, I agree the lyrics aren't absolutely amazing, but it's Curtis' voice which makes it.

  • AHHAHAHA U MORON AGHAHAHAHA UG

  • well fuck of then you cunt/tramp molecular SCUM!

  • Either you're a troll, or you're a moron. Go jerk off to Bright Eyes bootlegs you douche.

  • lets see u right better than

  • But on later songs Peter Hook normally sang as backing vocalist. I wonder who they consider better suited for backing vocals on the chorus: Barney or Hooky?

  • Would deffo be interesting, i mean Barney has obviously made his vocal career with New Order, but is Hooky an uptapped resource maybe?

  • He did sing several songs like "Dreams Never End" and "Doubts Even Here" in New Order as well as the verses in "What Do You Want From Me" in Monaco

  • amazing, when you listen to this early stuff of Joy Division how much it influenced music of the next 20+ yrs....

  • i think i prefer this version of the song aswell.

  • I believe this is a better version than the one released under Joy Division.

They definately should've kept Sumner in the chorus.

  • Barney on the chorus. BRILLIANT

  • The bass is good on this version....They should mix this bass with the latter version's guitar.

  • awesome bass line!

  • !!!!!!!

  • Listen closely to the chorus and you'll hear that ist none other than Bernard Sumner singing!
