  • TRASH TRAINS.

  • not in first class? haha

  • Is Round Trip Cheaper than One Way on Amtrak? I'm just wondering because it looks that way on Amtrak.com

  • I still don't understand the importance of signing your ticket for Amtrak **shrugs**

  • We need the ACELA, running from charlotte to raliegh.

  • 4:00 plz sign your tickets stand on one leg, do three spins and the 4 handstands to continue=govt

  • It looks awesome! I think it better than flying!

    -Plenty of legroom

    -Chargers for phone!

-Can sleep comfortable without limit space

    -Anytime eating

    -Wide Aisle

  • Cool, the inside of that train is set up quite similar to one of those fancy new jet aeroplanes I keep hearing about.

  • Looks awesome, why fly when there are trains like this, the French know to build trains.

Many years ago I got chased out by rifle toting Russian soliders in a steam shed somewhere in East Germany for photographing engines, we cannot allow such fears to affect us in the west.

  • Thanks, this helped a LOT for me to get over my fear of what it's gonna be like.. I'm a young musician, leaving florida on the 26th to go to dc, and I'm going with my friend Zach, and it's my first time traveling with my parents.. Where does the luggage go? Can we bring out guitars? I might die wituout it!

  • I'd ride the acela but I took an arrow to the knee

  • A derailment would be catostrophic!! T_T

  • Sign the ticket?...what difference does it make whether the ticket is signed or not?

  • 2:53 my dad is a conductor of an mbta train.....that could've been him :)

  • thats a cool train I hope they used these train for Chicago to St Louis 110MPH run when they finish with their project.

  • @sideslide23 Interesting comment. You probably remember the French Turbo-Train that Amtrak used to run between St Louis and Chicago during the late 70s early 80's I think. What ever happened to them?

  • @JetMechMA That was the CN Turbo Train they used allthough that the same Tech that the early TGV was used.

  • @sideslide23 I probably didn't know the difference back then. The company mechanical engineers helping set up the system spoke French if I remember correctly. I guess I assumed they were from France. Thanks for the info.

  • Cool video. By the way, well two things. One, I'm going to get a tour in all the cars you went in but I'm also gonna be in first class. And two, funny blurbs.

  • 1 PEOPLE GOT IN THAT TRAIN AND HIS TRAIN DERAILED WITH HIM INSIDE JAJAJA

  • THATS LIKE A PLANE THE OVERHEAD LIGHT,AND THE LITTLE TABLE HEHE

  • DUDE , THATS A NICE TRAIN ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE I LIKED AND SUBBED :)

  • just wondering, what class were you in?

  • Business class, the lowest class on the Acela :P

  • @TNT314159 lol i thought business calss was higher than first

  • @TNT314159 i was in first round trip XD

  • It looks so much more comfortable than a plane, and so more quiet.

I've seen Amtrak here in Utah, but do they have acela in Utah?

  • @videoman223 They only have it on the east coast. Boston to DC. Hopefully the midwest and west coast will get high speed rail soon in the future. The republicans are totally against it.

  • @trooper40below They're not totally against it. There are several that really support it. Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan's governors for example. I am a Republican and HSR has my full support. It's just some of our stupid politicians that screw things up.

  • The authorities must've improved the roadbed going through Connecticut considerably. For such an affluent state travel through it in a previous high speed train tested during the late 60s and early 70s was a nightmare. So to achieve speeds of 150 mph much improvement had to be done.

  • isn't Acela just the most..."Lifelike" Train Ever?

  • How did you EVER get away with shooting video onboard? These day I'd be too afraid to try (unless it's a railfan special where it's expected)! Technically, photography cannot be considered an act of terrorism but try explaining that to the Amtrak security! Still-what's your secret? Last time I videoed on Amtrak was 1986-and that was on a railfan trip.

  • Keep the camera down low (as if you're just carrying it around, not filming) when you see someone. I had to do that in the cafe car here...

  • @TNT314159 When I ride on Northeast Regionals, they have absolutely no problem with me filming. Some of them want to be in it! Do you think that it's different because it was an Acela or just a grumpy crew?

  • @bullfrog1954 its simple A Iphone its real easy to get away with it like that!

  • how much is a ticket in accela express ?

  • Depends how far you go

  • @TNT314159 How much is NJ to DC and back?

  • @DjKrAenK an acela express ticket has 2 prices. one for 1st class & 1 for business class. many different prices depending on where you're going . i.e. a one way ticket from BOSTON to NEW YORK. 1st class $ 190.00 & up ( depending the time of day - includes steward & food services ) & business class $ 179.00 & up. i hope to ride it someday. it cuts your riding time in half. i love AMTRAK. it's overpriced but i only ride on it when i'm travelling for 4 hours max. it beats flying.

  • Acela sure beats Megabus. If only I could afford it.

  • @leonardwilson85 I took Acela a week ago from New Haven to Penn Station. I was not impressed. It wasn't really faster than Metro-North. It wasn't worth the money I paid.

  • @leonardwilson85 : Ahhh... you must not be from the area; everyone in NYC and surroundings know not to take Amtrak between Trenton and New Haven 'cause its cheaper to take commuter trains.

Acela's TOTALLY worth it if your traveling far (like from NYC to DC)

  • My choice for traveling long distances is definitely the train over flying, or greyhound.

  • America is really step in it up. Were also getting some in California and florida and Texas.

  • what was the excuse for them telling u not to film i know its allowed as the station master near my house lets me film on the platform all the time and the website states its allowed too

  • I don't think Amtrak hires thin people. Every Amtrak train I have been on all the employees are fat. As they were on this train in the video. TNT DL means down low, basically film like you keeping a secret. The term actually came from the black community. A black male that is gay is on the DL. He sleeps with women for show so that people don't catch on. Many in the black community look down upon black gay men. So the men have to hide. Kinda sad.

  • That conductor either has Tourettes or is a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica, by the sound of it. How irritating. I've never made announcements like that on my train.

  • THANKS he/she

  • Awesome video. I'll be riding my second train trip in America on the Acela from Washington to Boston. The last train I rode was in South Korea and that was pretty nice, but that was before the new bullet train.

  • Really nice. Much better than anything in Australia.

  • we are getting HSR in all of the country now, with the bill, we have a new starting point, a carlifornia line, northwest, and florida

  • Not a bad 10 minutes of my life. Thanks!

I worked on board trains for Amtrak for 4 yearts in the 90's.

I loved it, the best yaers of my life..I was disabled out.

This is the train i wanted to work on.

The travel was fun. The people I met...The people who thought they were Special..Well they were all treated ,like everyone else. Some liked it some didn't.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • i have always wanted to be on that train.

luckily, i am only 12, so i still have alot of years for tht experince

  • Haha I love how you're "checking things out" at the begenning, I always do that too lol.

  • The Northeastern Corridor has to start planning newer and faster high speed tracks. It is time that Acela uses its full potential or do you want to see how California High Speed Rail overtakes the Northeast with 250 mph?

  • Excellent vid - thank you.

Spent a lot of time traveling on trains in europe, but have not been to the US yet so this was a very interesting vid to watch.

  • i hate to be so blunt, but you're not missing much.

  • Thank you, but mr.mfastx is kinda right. This is the only high speed train currently in the US. Others have nice interiors and tons of leg room, but don't go fast like they do in Europe.

  • good video but the next time film it on the DL so the amtrak people dont yell at you its hard to do stuff now in this post 9/11 world

  • DL?

  • DL = Down Low...out of sight...hidden

  • @TNT314159 dl down low

  • @TNT314159 Down Low.... more discretely

  • @retroguy1976

How could it possibly be seen as suspect to film on a train? Historically people take trains for a sightseeing experience. And what is a terrorist going to find out from a train video? That there are seats in rows and viewing lounges etc.. lol what is there some secret as to what is on a train??

  • Were you in First Class?

  • Nope, business class.

  • @TNT314159 oh I rode on acela 2256 and it was fun!

  • Great vid.... thanks for sharing.

  • Nice job man. Great overall Acela experience vid.

  • Thanks! I wish I had a GPS like you did during the trip though. My dad has an iPhone with GPS so maybe sometime I will go with him on the Acela and track the trip.

  • sounds like conductor Garry.

  • Do you know him?

  • awsome!!

  • Sweet! 150mph on the Acela with snow flying by, is there anything better?

  • Thanks! The only thing that could make it better would be a lack of Amtrak employees yelling at me for filming :/

  • awesome
