Always go macerator first. Rubber is almost endlessly available after the first night (saplings + bonemeal = as many rubber trees as you want). The extractor is not needed early on. While doubling your mining output definately is. I always go Generator -> Macerator -> Bat-Box ->Diamond Drill.

You should try faithful 32x32 pack. It has a bunch of industrial mods supported, and keeps stuff similar to the original, but just sharper.

If you put the batbox against the middle of the wall, instead of in the corner, then you can put three machines to either side and the generator above it. That way you have easy access to the batbox and generator, and no energy loss.

@Whitehills0815 Agreed. I've been keeping a basic crafting table in my crafting area, with an auto crafting table from Buildcraft above it. I changed the auto table up for a project table, and it's already helped my crafting process. Still have the basic table underneath, though.

Direwolf you should use forestry bronze in your recipes. Its easier to make (with ingots) and you get more (4 instead of 2). And forges ore book should let it work in IC2 recipes.

You should mine out one of your volcanos for some basalt cobble, man, It looks badass when you build with it, Take a look. It's like cobble but darker. And also, what you can do if you ever want to make things look better, sometimes a different block exterior using panels makes things look a hell of a lot better :)

Hey direwolf, you should check out this new game a bit like minecraft, it's still in Alpha but looks great so far, it's like Dwarf Fortress + Better Graphics + a proper GUI. It's called Towns. Just search Towns Game or Towns Alpha and it should show up. There's a demo for 20 ingame days per world, or you can buy it on Desura for about $12. I think you would like it.

@direwolf20 @21:05 Not wasting coal. Well... not quite... Running 1 machine, drawing little from batbox, triggering generator with 4000EU coal in it with all storages capped. Wasting ALOT EU's as it will burn whole coalchunk. Solution? GeothermalGenerator.

RP2 project table both keeps items on it, and has some extra storage space where you can put, for example, things you will need for a later step that would otherwise clutter your inventory while you get some of the more complex components finished.

For crafting large numbers of things, it can also use the resources in the storage, leaving the main pattern behind.

The only thing it lacks is automatic crafting (pipes/tubes can fill the storage, but can't pull out the result). Not a problem here.

fyi direwolf: when you were explaining about mining around ores I remembered something you and everyone else may find interesting. This does not always work, but most times it does. If you find redstone and iron next to each other (within 5 blocks) there's a chance there's diamond nearby too (within maybe 20) and if you find coal with the redstone and iron also, there's a bit higher chance. So you may wanna look around those spots.

dire, you do realize that you can make copper wire by placing rubber in the top and bottom 3 slots in the crafting grid and copper bars in the middle. Pretty sure you get more per recipe that way too.
