  • hey itchypalm36 can your electric motorcycle can run at high slope roads?

it may consume large amount of energy to its battery, considering the loads it carry. any plans about it?

  • it's good you went to full electric but if ya think about it. a ONE gallon regular gas motorcycle fuel tank can OFTEN carry the rider more than 45 miles. thus in the end..if a gallon of gas is 2.56 or under 3 bucks per gallon. you're getting the same "miles per gallon cost or miles per charge cost" BUT either way..it's an improvement because you'llnever have to spend money on all those things. spark plugs, oil changes. less parts to go wrong and spend money to fix. cudos

  • man..i dont get this emo or screemo music of today. shit..how about " for those about to rock" by ac/dc or " Skin of My Teeth" by megadeth. *shruggs his shoulders*

  • im thinking of doing this. im getting the X-Treme Scooters XM-5000Li electric moped. it has a 5000 watt electric motor and 21 lithium ion batteries, but i want to bring it's internals over to a different frame and body for a sportier look. Think i could get some good power out of it?

  • @haggman7 if you haven't already purchased that 5000li. perhaps you'll consider a REAL electric commuter motorcycle. Brammo Empulse 6.0 model has 60 mile per charge or almost 70 mph top speed, mode 8.0 has 80 mile per charge or 100 mph, model 10.0 ( the one im saving for ) has between 80 to 120 miles per charge or 100 mph. PER their engineering department's email recently. the 10.0 with a 225 lbs rider on mostly interstate traffic at 70 mph will be able to travel between 85 to 95 miles. :D

  • I would really like to know how your #2 came out, Im working on "something" with E power motors and any info that you could share with me as to what you used and how much it cost to make this Bike (and the #2 if finished) would be VERY HELPFUL. cashisking_records@yahoo.com Thank you, Terry.

  • what kind of range are you getting out of a charge ? and great work man

  • Looks like an F-ing good start........

  • real nice job, liked the battery setup...

  • great...well done!! iam thinking to do the same whith my bike ..its an aprilia rs 99'..i would aprishiate it if you could give me an idea on how much it will cost me..i ha no idea from where to buy the batteries or the e-engine

  • awesome job!

  • your going the right way with this- i dont know why the other e-bike builders dont add some gear reduction... makes a lot of sense and also adding the higher voltage charging system- simple and effective- wont be long until some lawyer delivers you a cease and desist order... from the big guys-

  • Hello itchypalm36,

I have a 1973 RD350 rolling chassis that I was thinking about making into an electric and then a buddy of mine sent me the link ot your video here. That is totally awesome that you got the RD to go electric. I am definitely going to have to try that with my RD as well. Your bike looks awsome - keep us all posted on your next bikes.

    quarkdude

  • yea thats gay they removed my music.

but thanks for all the comments guys, im gonna have my next motorcycle done soon, and its looking really nice, ill be sure to make a nice video, this time i may include more on the build process.

    thanks -Tony

  • where did you get your parts and do you have a basic blue print on how you made you cool bike, I've been looking at many diff

  • Nice video, to bad those fags at WMG are in a pissing contest about their royalties with you tube. I am boycotting WMG. The CEO of WMG is Edward Bronfman, check out WMG,s website and click on investor relations. E mail that faggot Bronfman and complain. Nice bike guy, repost the video with a different music track that is not on WMG Label

  • aye. annoying shit.

  • I believe 91 MPH peak with gearing, but not for long. Nice work with the RD chassis and transmission.

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like standard lead acid batteries.

I suppose you are aware the lithium polymer batteries weigh a fraction of those yet pack more capacity?

Also would hub mounted motor/s be out of the question due to gear ration/speed needed to reduce friction losses?

  • WOW.. this is awesome though gas prices have lowered. but here's some food for thought you are using batteries right and they are rechargeable. now think about the dudes you see on road bikes at night with lights that charge up when they peddle. you could in theory set the energy that u use to be recycled and charge, your bike while riding. sounds possible, have you seen soylent green when the lights go out and the dude hops on a stationary bike hooked 2 a gas less power generator. just an idea

  • Gee, you have just discovered how to createenergy from nothing. Again.

Don't you bastards EVER stay awake in science class?

  • Are you running a Harley Davidson 6 speed tranny? I would really love to know because I am in the middle of my project and have wondering why everybody has not thought of this yet with their projects. Even though the extra weight is not eficient which is bull, that is why we have them in the first place with set RPM ranges!

  • can you tell me which gearbox you used ? cause I can't really find a 6-speed-gearbox only.

  • the best homemade version .

  • Really nice work on both the bike & the video!

  • thanks a lot man

  • Nice bike, good work! A real inspiration for us backyard mechanics desiring to make the conversion to electric!

  • Hi there. I'm in Michigan as well and I'm interested in converting a motorcycle to electric. I picked up an old electric 81 Ford Fairmont and restored it a couple summers ago for my step father. If you're near Lansing (where I currently am) or Muskegon (where I will be for my hospital rotations) let me know, maybe we could get together and create a couple cool e-machines.

  • How did you mate the motor to the transmission? I am assuming this is a dry clutch? If a company or someone built an adapter for you, who was it? Also, what kind of RPMs are you running through the various gears? Thanks a ton.

  • 91 mph with 36 volts? Now you're just being silly! Unless going down 40 degree slope! 50 Mph would require at least 100 amps at 36volts. 90 mph would reuire more then the batterys or motor could ever handle.

  • yes, it will do 91mph. after i charge it to about 42volts. i tested this by using my hand held GPS, it has a max speed monitor on it so i toped the bike out on the flattest road i could find near me and i kept tabs on the speedometer and both registered at 91mph. and dont forget it has a 6-speed transmission so when a "normal" 36v bike tops out, i can achive a higher speed by up-shifting

  • thank you to whom ever posted this on the "V FOR VOLTAGE" forum, i never knew about this site and im kinda of addicted now. im trying to find a job in a EV company or something involved in electric vehicles. please contact me if you are aware of any

  • to the last poster, im sorry i meant to hit reply, not remove, please post again if you see this. what is the V for Voltage? i haven't heard of it.

  • Great job. Why don't u make it into a 72 volts system and document the miles per charge, instead of designing a new motorcycle. I always wanted to convert a motorcycle into electric using a tranny.

  • i was thinking of converting this one to a more powerful system, but then i'd have to replace speed controller, motor, both gauges...it got to the point where i just thought a new motorcycle would probably be easier.

    thanks for watching

  • What batteries did you use, What was the total cost. Wish i could do something like this.

  • i used 3, 12v AGM deep cycle 55Ah batteries, the total cost of the project with the bike is around $2800. the little things start to nickel and dime you, fusebos, wires, connecters, relays...thanks or watching

  • So it's only 36 volt system?

  • yessir

  • hmmm, 91mph top speed, 2 etek motors, 36V? I don't know, thats a little hard to swallow. I know its a 6 speed.... but still, a little hard to swallow.

  • its only got one E-tek motor, not 2. I would make another film with more documentary but unfortunately its snowing here in Michigan, so until next spring i cant ride again. and i tested all the performance with a hand-held GPS attached to the "tank" to make sure the speedometer and GPS could double check eachother.

  • @ 1:24 it looks like you have 2, i guess that is where you're going to the tranny.... how ya like it? 91mph seems pretty hight still.

  • no, almost silent all you really hear is chain noise. Very quiet compared to internal combustion motorcycles. thanks for watching

  • Damn man good job. Does it have that much noise to it
