  • I like how, whenever vampires are mentioned, everybody (even the people bashing it) has to bring up Twilight. Don't you guys realize, you're giving Stephenie so much free publicity? You're only proving her success, regardless of how crappy that crap is. (Not a Twilight fan, by the way.)

And I'm glad I watched this movie for one reason: Bauhaus. C:

  • I remember when I saw the opening scene the first time in my cinema class, I wanted to just turn Goth after that. ha

  • Does anyone know where to find this version of the song? Don't see it anywhere besides youtube.

  • Welcome to Goth Talk. I'm your host, Saoirse Night Shade, and this is Azrael Abyss.

It's an orgy of the macarbe, right next to the Pizza Hut on Hibiscus Road.

  • i love the path, and especially Ruby but i didn't ... catch that..

  • Thumbs up if you are here by Ruby's recommendation.

  • This is real movie about vampires. Not some shitty Twilight and this pussy Patison, here we have a real vampires!

  • I've repented my heresies, boys...this being, of course, square one, etc.,...

  • They had plenty of movies with unique vampires like this, Near Dark, Innocent Blood, Lifeforce, Sleepwalkers, The Keep, Thirst, Let The Right One In, Lair of the White Worm, Def By Temptation, Martin, The Dark Crystal, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, etc. before Twilight of showing unconventional vampires.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Def by temptation? really?

  • The bats have, indeed, left the bell tower - let us be thankfull

  • i don't remember the sound being so mutilated in the movie when i saw it.

  • did any comentors listen to this the sound is terrible are goths deaf or wot

  • @daithisogood

Well sure, but there's a certain nostalgic value to it. We know the sound is bad, we're not deaf, we just recognise it as a classic.

It's like old movies, they may suck, but they're still awesome.

  • gOOOOODDDDDDDD

  • Peter Murphy turned "white" and so should you!

  • Peter Murphy would sometimes hang from the rafters like a bat at Bauhaus shows... what band or musician was ever more "goth" than that? This man exudes darkness unlike most others.

  • peter murphy <3

    i remember blasting bela lugosi's dead when i was 12 <3

  • love this....

  • You should have seen them live, I was 17, changed my life!

  • Perfect intro for a movie

  • Im the only ten year old in my school who likes metal and goth.

  • This movie makes me want to smoke.

  • the first few times i watched this movie i couldn't get through it without a pack of cigarettes... the three leads make it look so damn sexy to smoke... i wonder if the tobacco companies had a hand in the making of this film?

  • This is the movie that made vampires very chic.

  • This is just the begining of whats out there when it comes to TRUE goth,....this new crap is so BUBBLE GUM GOTH. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES

  • @tabtrader twilight bubble gum goth

  • Three of the most beautiful people in the world in one film: David Bowie, Peter Murphy, Catherine Deneuve.

  • my fav vampire film through the years, love Bauhaus too

  • LOL! Gay fag Republican Christians. Amusing.

  • best opening sequence ever. the movie was amazing as well, so underrated. very stylish and sophisticated.

  • Love this

  • this song ws the best thing in the movie!

  • @lopiko666: Hey, the film is great. Better than that Twilight crap.

  • @LiberalDemocrat83

Since the vampires are the same like on Twilight, they both don't have fangs but sharp as blades teeth, don't burn in the sunlight, immortality etc. only The Hunger's don't sparkle in the sunlight. I mean if the vampires are different than regular vampires, how come they dont sparkle?

  • google 911missinglinks

  • @jayjanell1

    I do.

  • Comment removed

  • @jayjanell1 Bauhaus is timeless band, duh. Of course some of us young people know about Bauhaus.

  • I'm 14 years old, and yes I'm a big Bauhaus fan

  • @vanuaturocks Ha! I can top that, my little sister is 7 and she sings "Dark Entries" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" all the time.

  • OMG :)

  • Fucking awesome song and video. I remember that movie, taht was a good movie too.

  • Excellent

  • I own both the video and book for over 13 years now. Very interesting theory on immortatlity, very goesh, goth, and great! Excellent creen play, and mucis. Another great from Mr. W. Strieber.

  • What about the one in the middle of the movie when she's playing the piano with a veil on and sheds a tear. And at that moment, susan sarandon sheds a tear in her sleep. What is the song she's playing there?

  • it's called "Le Gibet " from Maurice Ravel.I tell you because i been looking for years for it and it's not on the movie soundtrack :)

  • you are lucky ,Le Gibet is on YT.Wish i had YT back in '84 :)

  • they can bite my neck any time....pete murphy, catherine deneuve and david bowie sexy trio

  • Bluesugarmonkey: don't be so uptight. None of this stuff is Beethoven. Kiss was just ok, not great (though i love the way Paul Stanley smells his fingers in the I was Made For Loving You video .) In it genre, this band and song had way more impact than Kiss did in hard rock. Bauhaus was a great art rock/goth band; Kiss was a marketing sensation and lightly regarded in its time, ie bubblegum hardrock. Now, everything is a marketing sensation, so Kiss seems more legit. Do you agree?

  • When someone says 80's Goth, this is the song that comes to mind!

  • i own this movie too. this is one of the great opening scenes ever...

  • É o classíco da vida de todos nós...

  • i own this movie ,,,,it's cult classic

  • anybody know who wrote the piano part of when miriam is playing the piano while mourning?

  • "Andante Con Moto". Beethoven. I think. Unless it's Schubert.

  • extracto de la película "The Hunger" Director Tony Scott, 1997

  • it was 1983

  • hey bass monkey,i dont watch this band and i dont care what they are about, but my daughter does,go kill your self...if you dont like peter murphy than you, must be a closet homosexual...if you reply then we know you r a stocker /sychophantic idiot......reply i dare guilty guilty guilty....dare dARE

  • haha this vedio and song make me think of that movie eraser head!

  • Simply because the majority of people like Big Macs does not make it gourmet food. Poor taste is a hallmark of many cultures.

Peter Murphy went on to produce without Bauhaus, and the others left to from Tones on Tails and later Love and Rockets... artistically I'm going to go with Bauhaus on the whole, though I'll give a showmanship award to KISS :)

The fact you think I, we, or Bauhaus suck will lead me to many sleepless night I can tell you. My pillow is already wet with tears.

  • oh, you crack me up, such impressive words too.

    Perfect Mall Rock mentality ;)

  • Don't worry, we all hope you die "an agonizing death soon" too sweetie ;)

  • Bauhaus.

    KISS is garbage.

  • It depends to what culture they influenced. To mainstream music of course Kiss had a much bigger impact, because they were mainstream, but Bauhaus itself had a HUGE influence in the whole goth subculture, Peter Murphy is like de Gothfather, and Bauhaus is the first proper goth band ever.

  • And I would rather see Bowie in that outfit.

  • WHERE IS THE MONKEY?

  • This is the original to "Written In Blood"... I loved it!

  • Peter John Murphy was the vocalist of the group Bauhaus. Thin, with prominent cheekbones, a rich voice, and a penchant for gloomy poetics, Murphy is often called the "Godfather of Goth. This song is found on -Bauhaus Singles: 1979-1983, Volume 1.

  • THIS MUVI IS JUST SOOO COOLLLL .....SHIT I CANT find it at any store!!

  • Damn, that sucks, i found it without breaking a sweat don't know if they do international orders though

  • @besito00 it's been released for the first time on DVD very recently, last summer, I think. You might want to check online.

  • This is fkn kickass, awesome.

  • I was an extra that day, it was filmed in Heaven, it took ages!

  • Amazing.

  • I was always thought the guy from the couple at the beginning of the film, the ones they feed on, looks like the singer of Sisters of Mercy or Lou Reed.

  • Yep, no shite.

  • Dam but I wish there was a version of this on utube where the audio didn't suck big green ones :\

  • This was a good movie. my favorite part was when that guy was roller blading in a parking garage, and david bowie just comes up and cuts him in the throat. good times. good times.

  • i like the part when david kills the little girl while she's playing violin...

  • "You stupid old fuck"!

    "You cut me man..."

  • I've not seen this before. Is it an advert for the film or a music vid transposed from the film ?

    K

  • It´s the beguining of the film.

  • they are in a night club at the begining of the film and bauhaus are playing in a cage
