I'm not surprised that no one has unliked this. You'd have to be insane to not love this music. Louis was a one of a kind musician. I love all kinds of music, but Jazz holds a unique ring that none other can quite match.
"...they threw a party in a manner a la mode" ?! In French that means with style/fashion. In the US it means with ice cream. So, ghosts, goblins, skeletons or not, they got ice cream! Bring your spoon!
Russel, I believe you are right on target. It certainly does sound like Oliver Hardy, from Laurel and Hardy. I couldn't verify it to be sure, but your selection is as good as it gets! If anyone supplies a definitive answer, then they may claim the prize of music historian of the decade and an award of 400 quatloos. lol
The ending of the song always makes me laugh. It sounds like Hans Conried, but I couldn't pin it down. lol "That's all there is. There isn't anymore." Also, the trumpet solo reprise sounds very reminiscent of "Hello Dolly." He is a legend. "What a Wonderful World," with Louis Armstrong.
My mother used to make us watch this movie when ever it was on in the 70s. I LOVE this scene. It made me start playing the trumpet.
I had no idea that was Lionel Hampton on drums. While playing trumpet in the marching band in NY in 1981, he was a judge for a band competition. I was in awe when meeting him.
Never knew, until now, that he was in this movie I love so dear.
So glad I found this! I've seen the Haunted HIstory of Halloween episode several times on TV. I just got done watching it here and was able to catch the title of this song in the credits. Thank god for YouTube - you can always find the most strange and obscure things.

@Snoofman
People today don't want talent or actual instruments used in their music. :/ Sad but..Changing world that people keep whoring out for change.

@christopherm2k Listen closely, I may be mistaken but I believe it's Oliver Hardy...at least it sure sounds like him.
