Radial Tires are just as hard as regular tires in as refering to the tread compound, bais ply are "softer" with a carkes made without steel plys as in a radial. Airing the tires down to 8psi would allow me to run over that phone and not hert it cause' the load is spread out over a larger area. BFG A/T's are radials.
