I remember these from nursery school back in 1984. The teacher had all the letter people balloons and each week we'd learn a new letter. She'd play the song then give us a drawing to of the letter person to color.
I don't think we watched these in kindergarten since they were almost 20 years old when I started school in 1990, but I had the letter people records and I played them to death. Hope I still have them somewhere even though they're probably scratched to hell haha
god this is awsome. im glad u posted this when i ask people if they watched the letter people in kindergarten i get looked at like im on crack. this is greatness!
If you look in the description for each video, it tells you when that letter person was introduced. In the case of Mr. C, he was the 19th introduced on the TV series, but in the original classroom program he was the 16th introduced.
The Letter people were created in the 70's- I think they were popular mostly for kids born in 1973-1983. I was born in '87 and never really saw it as a kid but being a huge fan of the 80's i'm doin my research on the good stuff. LOL
I'm dying to know the ages of you guys checkin this out on youtube. I'm just curious cuz I watched it and we had the "blowup letter" people in kindergarten. I'm 26 now, so that was back in 1986. My boyfriend watched the Letter people also and he's 35 now. How long HAVE the letter people been around!?!?
@PandorazRox ill be 32 next month and i been watching this since my 2nd year in kindergarten. if it werent for the letter people i have no idea where i would be. they thought i was retarded before they tried the letter people experiment on me lol
I think he was actually lavender (a lot of pictures of Mr. H over the years showed his skin as either lavender or dark purple, although I saw some where it was yellow or green). If he's hot pink in this video, it's probably because of the lighting.
I'm not surprised at all. I'm actually colorblind with certain shades of purple; they show up as either gray or pink to me (imagine going through life thinking Barney was pink; I never understood why people said he was purple...), so that solves that mystery. I've also heard Rossco Rocker and Ringo were purple, but I could have sworn they were gray. Funny how life works...
Well, the jury's out on Roscoe and Ringo, since in the Mr. P episode they were known as the "Purple Peekaboo Palookas", but probably because my copies of the shows are second-generation copies, they look grey or periwinkle.
I guess that's the way the censors who ruin all great kids' shows wanted it. It really makes me sad that great stuff like this gets overshadowed by the worst crap...
I still remember the episode where Mr. C and Mr. K were debating over their sound. They went to Ms. I's malt shop to figure out who would stand next to who. Mr. C was shady! He got Mr. K to look the other way so that he could put his letter next to Ms. A! I never liked him.
Well this is weird, it seems most everybody posting in here's name starts with C. I remember this guy being special to me in kindergarten cuz my name started with C. He was my favorite, Coooll!!
My name starts with C too. I liked Mr. C. But it was a shame he acted greedy in one episode and wanted more than his fair share of words from Mr. K. But I guess he was going through an emotional time when he found out somebody else had the same sound he had.
My name starts with the letter C. This show is my absolute favorite, because of the music in the background. I can imagine myself playing in the pit. Yes, they should release these episodes to DVD sometime soon.
Joe Williams was a terrific jazz singer who had one of the most unbelievable voices on the planet. While he gained fame as a vocalist with the Count Basie orchestra, many younger people (read: those who grew up in the 80's) might remember him as "Grandpa Al" on "The Cosby Show".

I'm 32, was in kindergarten in 1983. We had the blow up letter people also. And I'm from Louisiana, so yall weren't the only ones with them.
p.s. He doesn't look like no cotton candy to me, he looks like a flea-infested Telly from Sesame Street.

Maybe Mr. C should of been made out of Cookies.
Of course is they ever gueststarred on Sesame Street, Cookie Monster would of consumed him.

Mr. C will be played by Austin St. John (aka Jason the Red Ranger).
