  • Wow, the cherry pie guy died a few months ago. Yes that is his legacy. However MTV and the corporates killed the good music. Dee snider is totally wrong in his analysis, the record labels took over and kicked out the bands and replaced them with controllable one star performers under slave contracts. Today we don't listen to what the public wants to listen too but we listen to what the corporates wants us to listen to, we are being brainwashed!

  • Hair metal died around 20 years ago... Nu and core are NEXT!

  • it is around today so no it didn't die just went away

  • fuck rap. fuck techno. hard rock n all metal will rule FOREVER \m/

  • "Let's see Tracy Chapman or Paul Simon plug into two Marshall stacks and ride the lightning." well said Mr. Snyder.

  • i suggest everyone watch the documantary that this is taken from. its called the story of metal and starts with sabbath and ends with limb bizkit, it cool to see the decline

  • @Missbarbossa

Limp Bizshit is a damn good 'period' to put at then end of that time line.

    lmao

  • Extreme is fucking genious.. He shouldn't bash them.

  • @norgesnus

    "genius"

And Dee, as valid as some of his points are, is a bit of hypocrite for sure

  • @ROOKTABULA

I know what you mean, but I don't think that Dee Snider is necessarily saying that the bands suck, he's saying that the bands were controlled by the record companies to make money, and he as the right to speak about it since the only time Twisted Sister weren't Heavy Metal was with the album Love Is For Suckers, wich was recorded as a solo album of Dee Snider, but he was forced to call it Twisted Sister or otherwise the record company wouldn't release it.

  • WTF hair metal/glam... what does it deserve??? it does not deserv nothing bad.... just look back 20 25 years back.... and try to compare that music and today music..

  • Hahhah i could shoot myself in head for writeing that song xD

  • whitesnake was great, fuck you dee

  • Dee is just pissed because Twisted Sister was the least talented out of ANY of the bands he mentioned.

  • hass dee snider been taking his alzheimers medication or is he just that fucking stupid

  • That's sad, man. Not even I can hate that song that much. R.I.P. Jani Lane.

  • well in the end I think Cherry Pie finally did him in. RIP Jani

  • record labels are evil.

  • Makes me feel guilty for liking hair metal...

  • I'd rather listen to glam metal on the radio then the fucken shitty music these days!!!!!!!!!!! Im almost 30 years old and have loved metal, mostly thrash all my life. But if you would compare sell out glam metal to the music that musician's put out now, glam metal bands have a ton more talent then these no talent mother fuckers!!!

  • Dee Snider is preaching to the choir. he sold out before he began.

  • who is the f** is dee snider ? anybody remenbers twisted sister ? you´re a nobody your music sucked big time , glad twisted sister is gone.

  • Metal is alive and well. The mainstream side of it sucks balls but the underground is as strong as it's ever been.

  • Guess what glam metal has. Talent. Guess what Grunge/Alternative doesnt have. Talent

  • @ex5098

    Really?

    You're sober and writing that?

If you can seriously say Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, for example, don't have TALENT?!

If you can play an instrument or compose better than any of those artists, put an album out.

  • @ROOKTABULA i like hair metal... well some of it... mostly motley crue but i also like other types of metal grunge alternative heavy metal hell even jazz and stuff like that but thats me

  • @ROOKTABULA Pearl Jam, yes. The rest, not so much. Grunge was weak, and the only reason people still talk about Nirvana is the Cobain factor.

  • @TheToneZone71

I think you're confusing personal taste with reality.

    AIC wrote some AMAZING shit.

If you can listen to Soundgarden's canon and not find tunes that fucking hit you, you're Helen Kellar.

The "Cobain factor" is the fact that the guy wrote memorable, original, hooktastic, yes simple, but music that S-t-o-m-p-e-d cock rock dead.

  • @ROOKTABULA Original? Cobain ripped off Teen Spirit from Boston. He also ripped off his persona from Jim Morrison. I will give you AIC though, they were a band that broke ground. However, the rest of the 90's grunge tripe was 80's pop tune rehash with fuzzy distortion. There you have it, two mainstream bands from the 90's that raised the bar. The rest was utter rubbish.

  • @TheToneZone71

Ahh but if he hadn't copped to taking the idea for that chord change from Boston, (how many hair bands, or most artists for that matter, have the balls or integrity to even admit such a thing?), would you even know. I've been told, and know I've got a killer ear for hearing where ideas, motifs, get lifted from but the genius comes in the fact that one can take an idea and utterly change it. There's little in Teen that would make u say: "BOSTON!" As for Jim? Not.

  • @TheToneZone71 you must be out of your mind my friend alice in chains is one of the best bands ever existed i put them out there with black sabbath and led zeppelin

  • @MsJilsephonie Zeppelin, seriously? No one is going to be AIC shirts in 30 years. Case closed.

  • @TheToneZone71 alice in chains would be a good band but they got one advantage above other bands that make them great and that is rip layne staley one of the best voices in the rock history with robert plant, jim morrison and janis joplin

  • @TheToneZone71 ^wearing

  • @TheToneZone71 Metalheads, the most closeminded music fans on the fuckin planet

  • @CrazyDan1984 Actually, I seldom listen to metal. I'm a huge Steely Dan fan, and jazz/fusion is my genre of choice.

  • @ex5098 hahahahahahahahaha, thats a good one, go listen to ur Poison records fag

  • @ex5098

    Go fuck yourself.

    Learn about real music.

Glam metal seriously lacks sincerity and feeling.

Grunge musicians may not have been the best musicians, but what they were writing about was for themselves. Not for anyone else.

    Grunge music was functional musicianship.

Just cause some guy who looks like a chick plays the guitar really fast doesn't mean he's more talented than grunge musicians.

I'll bet you can't even name 10 REAL grunge bands without looking on the internet.

  • "Im a cherry pie guy" that was funny

  • Uh Jani how much money and fame did "Cherry Pie" bring you, your family and friends again? Sounds like a good story and I'm sure part of you feels this way but c'mon overall you know you LOVE Cherry Pie.. RIP by the way. (no sarcasm)

  • @StephenAnthonyMusic

    Ever seen a contract?

    I have.

You note he was told by a label a-hole, Donny Eisner, to come up with a hit?

Depending on the contract and the level of recoupment the label slammed them with, (remember, this was a band who's TWO guitar players had to fake playing the leads other's played on a couple albums-weak bargaining position), even as writer-he could have got Dick All.I 've had to perform songs I wrote that sucked-but to his degree?!I'd drink too

  • Hair metal of the 80s are like EMO bands today which i hate very much as much as Dee hate the glam rock days. but i have nothing against the Hair metal. maybe when time comes, my child will love slayer as well as EMO?!! NNOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo.................!!!!

  • Glam Metal fans always blame Grunge for 'killing Glam Metal'. The fact is they killed them selves. Growing up in the late 80's, early 90's I just got tired of Glam Metal all the radio all the time. All they sang about where party, drinking all night long. And power ballads about love their 'love lifes'?? We all did know that they couldn't have any love life, while partying and get laid all the time. At the end all the songs sounded the same.

I am glad Grunge, Alternative and G'N'R' came.

  • mr big aren't exactly a metal band anyway so I think it's unfair to include them

  • i already saw this before, and since that, now on i respect warrant

  • Sure beats GRUNDGE. I`ll take glam metal over the new crap that`s out today. How can anyone sit there and complain about a song they wrote that made them rich. that`s like winning the lottery then complaining about paying taxes on it.

  • I love you Dee. You're my hero for life. We'll meet on stage one day.

  • 1:43 Bad tan?

  • @axlludwig

Alcoholism can cause that flustered flesh tone.

  • wtf is dee talking about he had all make up and shit too he was also glam wth mann

  • @CmdkyL but he wasn't a sell out

  • @MrUlulululu1 what is a sell out exactly?

  • RIP janni lane

  • yeah i kinda didnt dig those glam bands that tried to evolve during like the early 90's

  • yea paul gilbert was in mr.big when they unplugged and released "to be with you"....but he also was in RACER X....which is a band that makes other "metal musicians" sound like they don't know how to play at all...

  • I hope they play "Cherry Pie" at the next strip club I go to.

  • We're going through a movement where emo bands have taken control while they went through a hair metal movement, quite frankly I prefer the hair metal any day.

  • 'cause it sucked

  • i like how Dee talks about who killed metal when his fucking band is fucking glam!

  • please tell me paul gilbert wasnt with mr big when they unpluged

  • I don't think that Dee hates acoustic music, I think he hates that fucking Unplugged movement.

  • 80's: Women referred to hot chicks and babes. Now: Women referred to bitches and ho's and the women buy into it as well. Kinda set back the woman's movement about half a century. Then there's the music side of it. There are no new musicians today. Composing is NOT slapping together sound bites recorded by a real musician. It isn't rocket science people...

  • @DrDragon63

I kinda think we were separated at birth.

    Damn.

    :)

  • @ROOKTABULA \\m// \\m// Up the Irons bro!!!

  • @DrDragon63 Oh, do you think bands with records that had nude 14 year old girls and snakes wrapped around women never referred to women as bitches or hoes? Get the fuck out of here dude.

  • @merocket Stop right there...please. You're missing the point and if you can't get it don't post a response. I'm not gonna get in a cyber pissing match with you...

  • @DrDragon63 No dude, you are missing the point. You think just because it was it wasn't in vogue to curse in pop music that these glam bands are somehow better people than rappers who demean women more bluntly in their music.

  • @merocket Whatever. Refer to my last post.

  • @DrDragon63 In other words "I'm not smart/motivated enough to reply and/or I realized I was wrong, so I'll just type 'whatever'."

  • @DrDragon63 unfourtunatly if you want this to change, the band that does it cant be metal. even though thrash was huge, it was still always underground as in metal is not something everyone could like. pop is trending because it is easy to get into, and its trendy so kids my age listen to it to be cool. i wore my metallica kill em all shirt to school once and was told to take it off because of santanism!(i go to a catholic school) i refused and they called my parents, and they laughed.

  • All of those bands Dee mentioned I view as hard rock and not metal. I do find it funny that most Glam bands either stayed dead, only do nostalgia tours or got heavier. Thrash on the other hand is still going strong.

  • White Lion, Extreme and Tesla were all fantastic bands. Dee Snider shouldn't rag on those guys. Warrant? Fair game.

  • Fuck u, Fuck u, Fuck u, Fuck u hahahahahaha!

  • Comment removed

  • metal still lives. im 15 and only listen to that kind of music. its not dead as long as people still listen to it.

  • Hair metal died for the same reasons everything else dies, popular taste just moves on. Nothing more nothing less

  • Hair metal was a plague, glad it died

  • the answer to the problem is fuck labels and corperate scum

  • 1) There's nothing wrong with Cherry Pie.

    2) All genres that get too big eventually become saturated with 3rd rate crap.

    3) Rap music makes my ears sad :(

  • Hair Metal died after some Genius invented Adderall...then all those bad ass Metal bands turned into a bunch of Emo Kids :)

  • Steel Panther FTW!!!!! Hair metal rules \m/

  • It became a parody of itself and so formulaic. I started hating it around 1988. Sure I still get nostalgic for it now and then, but I moved on form it long ago. I now listen to all kinds of music not just metal.

  • Makes me feel so happy that hair metal is dead and rotting in hell.

Some bands like Avenged Sevenfold are trying to bring it back - NO!!! Just no.

  • @spiderjerusalem100 Avenged 7Fold arent trying to bring hair metal back. Because glam metal takes talent. A7x are just an emo band with heavy guitars

  • look at all the people giving their opinions on the subject, and making an ass of themselves.

  • "hot boyz with electric toyz" killed metal.

  • Never liked 'rock ballets' or cheesy singles. Though I've always had a soft spot for Bands like Warrant, White Lion, Malice, Ratt etc. All of these bands tried to sell-out to compete with the likes of Crue & Poison & the truth is, they didn't have to. All that being said, Jani Lane isn't at fault, he was caught up in the times & I hope he's at peace now.

  • Dee has hosted a radio show called house of hair since 1997 and when twisted sister broke up in the late 80's, Dee was doing rehersals with both Reb Beach and Kip Winger for a solo project that ended up as the Twisted Sister album Love is For Suckers! Go look at the credits for that album and you'll see Reb Beach, Kip Winger and Steve Whiteman from Kix on that album! And last time I checked Dee and the members of TS released a christmas album!

  • Rip to Mr. Cherry Pie Jani Lane

  • Im sick of Dee. He should stop whoring himself out to VH1. Twisted sister was an okay band. but i'm sick of him talking about "carrying the flag" in the metal crusade and putting down other bands. plus don't insult paul simon. I'm a huge fan of death metal, but you NEVER insult paul simon, its just a rule of life

  • it never died. just not commercial anymore

  • R.I.P jani u r sorely missed

  • haha I love that twisted sister guy

  • Cherry Pie is delicious

  • Hearing and watching dog shit like Trixter, Nelson or Firehouse makes me want to hear and see Nirvana. And I fucking hate Nirvana. But compared to that watered-down, faggy, cliche'-ridden, cheesy bullshit called "hair metal", Nirvana was a breath of fresh air. And I really fucking hate Nirvana.

  • hair metal needed to die because by the end of the 80s, you had clone bands of clone bands of clone bands of clone bands, and they all looked the same, all played the same pop rock garbage, etc... lame. Just grab 4 or 5 dudes with long hair and throw 'em in denim & spandex & leather, write some cheesy formula-songs about chicks, broken hearts and cars and the sheep bought it hook, line & sinker.

  • @777zippy777

The sad thing is that bands like Whitesnake were/are actually really good bands that write amazing music they just got lumped in with all of the other c-list shit.

Ironically Whitesnake's biggest hit Here I Go Again (off of 1987) was a re-arranged and re-recorded version of the same song on a previous album (Saints & Sinners).

Personally I find the original S&S version superior to the 1987 version because slower bluesier tempo of the song matched better to the lyrical content.

  • cherry pie is better than any Twisted sister song... eddie ojeda...for god sakes... i agree with dee on the extreme and mr.big kinda thing cause those songs were and are cheesy... and most those guys like dee and ronnie sang about flunkin school and talk with the devil and drink till ya drop on their songs, and probably got back to their kids after recording stuff and playing live...glam metal guys talk the talk and walk the walk...just ask david lee roth...

  • @DrHowlingMad cherry pie better than any twisted sister song...sure...okay, listen to justin bieber don't ya? and think he's top shit too huh?

  • @Racin3 yeah man justin bieber rules. just like 30 year guys dressed up like dragqueens singin about not wanting to go to school, that is awesome. drop by my channel and check out some of my favourite videos. and a guy who strugles on the guitar, another one that strugles on the bass, and the drums...no comment. t'least those guys sang bout gettin laid, wrote songs nicely composed, with nice guitar solos, with power...twisted sister sounds like a 50's band with distortion...

  • @Racin3 true story bro.

    TS like a bosss

  • i don't mind it, it just got way to out of hand, it got all fucked up when bands like Warrant and Winger came out. Early hair metal is good, but not the late hair metal.

  • Yeah Dee , Whatever !

  • thrash killed hair metal

  • @8XVV Your forgetting the greats Van Halen, Motley Crue?

  • Thank god Nirvana and alternative (metal) came in the early nineties!

  • @tauroscorp Thats what ruined music

  • Metal slamin metal? wtf is wrong with you

  • hair metal never dies...

  • @gascainvizibila It's already dead.

  • Wath the fuck is Dee Sniders problem with acoustic im a huge metal fan to hard rock, and hair metal fan but acoustic guitar is the best thing that could of hapened i mean nothing rong with acoustic guitar!!!! I mean your not going in the midle of the woods around a camp fire with beer and and electric guitar with no amp wath the point? So i guess there was nothing rong with band doing unplugged

  • lol cherry pie guy

  • what movie is this from?

  • Dee Snider is a poor looser who speaks with envy. Since "Love is for suckers" (an album completely in the line he's critizicing) he only wrote 2 wood songs for Widowmaker and it's 20 years with no sympthoms of talent at all. While this time, Coverdale, Dokken, House of Lords, Danger Danger and Kip Winger have made amazing albums.

  • Lots of early 80s glam metal fans moved on to thrash and death by the late 80s. That's the bigger culprit than grunge, if you ask me. Strangely, most grunge fans knew who NYD were, but your average Poison fan at the time wouldn't have had a clue. Go figure. Jane's Addiction and RHCP steered a lot of record biz attention away from late 80s glam, too, but you can't really call them grunge, can you? Things changed; the music industry is fickle. Grunge got left behind, just the same...

  • @rodtorkelson its not about the Glam fans, its about the general population, the people that watched MTV got into hair metal, bought the albums and started the whole fad and then when people felt that hair metal was done to death (ie every new glam band was just a rip off of the last) they wanted the anti-glam, which was grunge (slow down music with no show at all), and due to that, a lot of glam bands were put out of a job, and some left music all together. Now a lot of them tour on nostalgia.

  • Uncle toms cabin rocks...

  • Glam metal didn't die. A fucking lot of glam metal bands still playing and kickin' ass. And where is grunge now? I love glam metal. It was commercial as hell but the music rocks and is catchy.

  • oh and dee snider is a fucking hypocrite!

  • why the fuck is everybody bashing hair Metal? Theres no such thing as real Metal, thers just subgenres. Hair metal was one of the greatest style of Rock N Roll out there. Alot of you fucking rejects only bash the image. Some of the best guitarists came out of the glam metal movement, ie George Lynch. It beats all of that overrated death Metal crap which gets played on the radio nowadays. You guys know dont know fuck all about Rock N Roll. Back in the 80s hair metal was just fucking fun!

  • @fireboltttt Rock and Metal are two different things, Rock is a derivative of country (ie how Elvis Prestly and Johnny Cash WERE Rock back in their day) Metal is that, plus more (like Symphony, Opera). The Metal sound evolved to be louder while rock just added spices of Pop. I respect hair metal, but only the ones that deserve it (ie Montley Crue, or the pioneers) but the genre was done to DEATH everyone looked and sounded the same... Plus, Tony Iommi is the best and Van Hallen is shit now.

  • @fireboltttt Since when is Death Metal played on the radio? Death metal is mainly an underground thing.

  • No he wasn't lying and yes he was dying.

  • Ehm, not to be a douche.

While Eminem might be simplistic musically, some of his best songs could have been metal lyrics. and he definately has the right mindset. Sometimes i do wish he would have been a metal singer, because i think he stands/used to stand out in pop music.

  • LOL THANKS TESSLA! HAHAHAH

  • @8XVV Hey! FUCK YOU!

  • Well at least those bands played their instruments and wrote good songs for the genre... Now what do kids have to listen to? Also, I'm my opinion Extreme, Winger, Warrant, Whitesnake kick ass... Twisted Sister was a schtick to me...

  • I bet that's the only dessert that guy DOESNT like !! Did he balloon up or WHAT?

  • -- Hair METAL

    -- Glam ROCK

    --Sleaze METAL/ROCK

^^Please people, get your terms right. Hair Metal was the Metal music, Glam was the poppy rock, and Sleaze was a hybrid of Hard Rock/Blues Rock and Hair Metal. Hair Metal was great. Glam Rock, had it's moment,s but mostly was bleh. Sleaze has always kicked major ass.

  • I was speechless when i saw this video. Speechless at how stupid people could be. 1. There is nothing wrong with acoustic guitars. 2. Cherry pie and hair metal are both awesome, Jani Lane said in a later interview that the Vh1 producers caught him on a bad day. 3. Rap isn't true music, there's hardly even instruments in it usually. does anybody agree?

  • @MrSnowblind37

    1. You're right.

    2. Ummm nope. >;P

    3. I already made that point at the start of the clip and in the text below it. But thanks for restating it.

  • @ROOKTABULA Yeah when i said hair metal was awesome I actually meant glam metal because i think of cherry pie as glam metal.

  • @MrSnowblind37 Yes & no. The Metallica of yesteryear who hated Motley & the scene that THEY ushered to the mainstream, do give props to the Crue nowadays. Well at least Lars does. Thats cuz Motley wasnt a cookie-cutter copy-cat band. They changed with every album. Musically and physically. The copy-cat bands were in it for a few things.. Money, image, girls, and because their label told them to. The machine of metal died when it got processed, thats why grunge took over so easily.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrSnowblind37 I was a kid living in the heart of the LA glam scene with family in the business. Fond memories. I've learned to discount much of what these guys say in documentaries. They're going from memory and machismo. As it's been said many times already, a guy who built his career on mimicking the glam rock scene, re-recorded "Leader of the Pack" and has a power ballad of his own probably shouldn't cast stones. But really we can all have a laugh about that era now.

  • @MrSnowblind37 80s sucked sorry..

  • @jamirosmajicrocks Faggot 80s ruled

  • @MrSnowblind37 I don't care if Lane tried to retract it. The fact is when you let off steam like that it's because you've been holding it in for a long time thinking it day after day. The guy was telling how he really felt. Backpeddling a coupld of days later is pathetic. He accidentally said what he really felt.

And Dee is a hypocrite. "The Price" anyone? Power ballad? Hello Dee.

  • @MrSnowblind37 You and the rest of the close minded elitists agree.

There are plenty of instruments and melodies in rap and hip hop music and while I'll take metal over rap any day of the week, Music is just Melody fused with Poetry. Nothing more and rap does that every bit as much as disco, metal or country.

What you just said is every bit as retarded as when a rap fan says that metal is just a bunch of noise and screaming.

  • @MrSnowblind37 Rap places more emphasis on the lyrics, the music/beat is just to make the lyrics sound better!

  • @MrSnowblind37 Rap is about the message, but I you are prolly judging rap on what you see on TV / Hear on the radio. Yeah, that rap sucks, couldn't agree more.. But I can assure you there is great rap out there, you just need to know where to look.

  • @MrSnowblind37 1. there is nothing wrong with acoustic. But when a whole 'Metal' song is acoustic, its not metal. Metal is the ELECTRIC Guitar. But u can certainly have acoustic in metal songs.

    2. I love Thrash, Glam sucks balls (we are all entitled to out opinion)

    3. Rap is music (not a fan of the hip-hop, R&B bullshit thats been released over the past 15 years). The good rap is the 'oldschool' stuff, and the stuff that deals with social issues like poverty and gang violence.

  • @MrSnowblind37 No!!! you are retarted

  • @MrSnowblind37: I'm not going to go as far as saying Rap sucks even though I feel that way about it. Alot of people do like it & that's cool with me but to call Rappers the "TRUE talents of recorded music" is a fucking joke.

Rappers rap because they can't sing. They don't play musical instruments, they program them.

Glam metal became all about image & that was it's demise. Rap is all about getting arrested & looking like a badass who doesn't know how to hold a gun upright.

  • @MrSnowblind37

While I agree with you about rap not constituting music I disagree with your stated reasoning. As a fan of both metal and electronic music I can say that many artists of the latter category, put a lot of composing and producing quality tracks which can rival rock and even classical music in terms of musicality if not technical performance. Contrast this with rap, wl you have to do is speak (not sing) over pathetically simplistic beats which a child could make.

  • Dee is a hypocrite, Jani didn't have to write that song, and rap is crap.

  • @THRUTHESEEYES

    Yup.

    Yup.

    Yup!

  • glam metal is not died never died baby.

  • The best Hair band is Steel Panther!

  • D Snoozer..The Big Over Rated Loozer!!!!!!!!!

  • Industry is to blame for it's power of influence. These guys could have said no. There is good and bad in all things..Last I saw, some of the most praised hard core metal, have musicians with long hair. Hair has nothing to do with it. last I saw, you wouldn't eat a cheeseburger that looked like a pile of dog shit. Or a pizza that looked like someone puked it up..It's always been about money and fame. Some of us can do this job better than others and some of us, shouldn't do this job it at all.

  • So true! Hair Metal destroyed a great scene. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy...etc. All killed by Winger, Warrant and Danger Danger!

  • even wearing spikes and black leather doesnt make it metal too!!! fuck the bunch of thrash bands that sounded as the rest!! black leather comes from the gay style... Rob halfrod was the first..gay sado was taken as rude... what the fuck if you use make up or ripped pants and leather jackest if you have the talent to play metal you´ll be great.. fuck steryotipes

  • @CristoViolador Yeah, it's not about what you wear, it's about what you play and what you loved to hear... Outfits are just an additional support :)

  • Hair metal was the worst genre of music ever.

  • Sucks for Jani Lane. RIP man. That song sucks ass but you didnt deserve to die,

  • dee snyder is a twat hypocrite. He made a fucking christmas album, and jani lane????? mate i understand that unfortunatley that song defined your carreer (cherry pie IS a good cheese-rock anthem, dont care what anyone says) but come on man, i know its not cool to diss a dead guy, but that song paid for your houses, flashy cars and everything else. So give over.

  • Well said, Dee

  • OK! just to clear this up. anything heavier than Guns N'Roses is metal, no matter if it's light, hair metal or fucking black metal. G N'R is the heaviest rock that you can find so that's what I like to use as a guide line. Hair metal artists may have dressed like chicks but they are still good. Sure they aren't true heavy metal but they were the 1st bands to go main stream, so you can't make fun of them too much. Dio also used to wear make up so he can't exactly say he's the manliest man either.

  • I think Dee Sniders point of view of the glam scene was, because Twisted Sister got like what...two good songs and that was all that they had to offer in the 80s.

  • It's just like what Dio said, "Wearing makeup and dressing in drag, that's not metal."
