Yeah, it does, but you don't really need it to shift. You can just lift your foot off the accelerator to upshift, or you can heel toe to downshift. don't need the clutch ever.
@mykatamari Most WRcars have a semi automatic gearbox with paddleshifters. The newer NSX's and the HSV-010 also use paddleshifters. Most WRCar transmissions have a sequential stick so that when the hydraulic paddleshifters don't work they can use it as a sequential gearbox.
@nujabes7 Depends on the system. Most racing sequential gear boxes like this one don't need manual clutch to go up and down the gears. Just to engage and pull off from neutral.
not "Danm!" Buy a Book and learn something about Sportscars. Sure, every Car needs a Clutch to start moving. But most of the cars with sequential gearshift DON'T need the clutch to be pushed for shifting.
In some cars you have only to lift the throttle 1/3-1/2, pull the stick and step back on the throttle. In some cars they stay on the throttle while shifting because ignition is cuttet while pulling the stick. Some have automatic hydraulic doubleclutch. And so on...

yeah mister "iknoweverything" i know that supercars or racing cars dont have clutch to push but they hace clutch! Dumb!! without clutch car even scooter cant moooovee!
I don't know why they gave this comment a thumbs down? It's absolutely correct, they still need a clutch, but the computer does the rest once it's moving. (ignition cut on up shifts, rev match on downshifts)
well good post ,but not 100% true. (well in europe) most racecars have a sequential gearbox with ignition cut, thats right.. so no throttle lifting for upshifting. on downshifts however you need to use the cluth AND blip the throttle for the rev-match. dont know about japanes GT cars but in this video he does not need to use the clutch at all(well, besides get going from a stand still) keep on driving safe... also note the driver-cooling-box on the passenger legroom.
Oh yeah. These car's are stable. Super GT NSX's run like a F1 car, just 1150kg. Great suspension, lots of downforce with amazing brakes. Seems like this NSX has a weight handicap. On Fuji's straights they go up to 274km/h. I use my corvette tuned in GT5P and it goes over 300, but these cars clock way faster then me. So they handle amazingly.
I'm not even talking negative stuff and you come up to me with that comment I drive a "real" car too, not just in a simulator. I never mention it was "easy" I meant this guy make it look easy, because you can see how smooth his driving is.
Take a look at a video of the Aston Martin DBR9 thats a real V12 sound , this is not the sound of a v12 but from a v6 an it is it , but a brilliant sound!!!!!!!!
You can see him heel toe by the way his knees shift together. Going down thru the gears he wont need to back off just foot in it and pull back the stick. I love those boxes!!!
They don't do heel or toe, that car has a clutchless sequential transmission. Sequential transmission will let you upshifts or downshifts without using the clutch at all.
Its part of the rules they have to heel/toe(well it was at this time of racing) on downshifts6-5-4-3-2-1 and even though the boxes can shift without clutching 99.9% of manufactureres of Sequential gearboxes recommend clutching during downshifts. Watch the the Nagasaki GTR driver and you will see what i mean.

This is the Nakajima Epson NSX from 2005, driven by Lotterer and Matsuda at Round 2 Fuji. Lotterer qualified the twin turbo NSX 9th, they finished 8th. 2005 would be the final season for the 3.0l twin turbo V6 NSX engine as Honda Racing would introduce the 3.5l NA V6 for the next race. Resulting in Super GT Victories, but still a Championship eludes the four car NSX effort.
why did they let this damn herrman "mr. boring" tilke totally ruin this track? I don´t get it. The old layout was so much better...

clutch is integrated with the tranny. Same goes for WRC rally races. See how they race? they just hit that shift bar / stick.

nsx engine with supercharger i believe
iceicebuddha 2 years ago
@iceicebuddha
It's Naturally aspirated engine(3.5 V6, 500bhp), there's no superchargers, these sounds that you hear it' from sequential g-box (straight cut gears).
2jzgtejza80 1 year ago
Custom-built Honda engine, water-cooled V6 Normally aspirated (Longitudial-mounted), 3.494 liters, DOHC, 4-valves per cylinder.
xtelevisionset 2 years ago 2
@Lucag120 3.4 liter N/A V8. Produces 500 bhp (in this case, about 7200 rpms).
