I have not used Microsoft office since I bought Office 2000 then Office 2003 comes out then 2005, then 2007 and now 2010 I am sorry can't afford to keep upgrading and don't see much difference between them. I am happy with open office it's free, can do everything Microsoft Office can do, can open Microsoft Office programs and save as Microsoft Office format.

2003 is functionable, but (depending on how much you ACTUALLY use it) 2007 does it all better. multimedia stuff like videos werent thought of as much in the 2003 version as they were in 2007.

you know, that is the best thing about PC. You cna just buy the OS, unlike Macs, where you have to buy the whole computer to get it. That was the major difference that set Jobs and Gates apart. Gates allowed users to but the OS on its own, while Jobs did not, and that is one major reason more people have PCs now than Macs, even though Mac was the first computer on the market.

The difference between Macs and PCs is this the software is made to work with there own hardware, that is why mac's work very well because the same company makes the hardware and software for there computers. Bill is no longer CEO its Steve B that is, macs weren't the first computers mate Commodore computers were.

that is an upgrade. you can't just flat out buy snowleopard, you must either upgrade to it, or but a new Mac. 7 cost 200 dollars for the system, or 120 for an upgrade. 3 upgrades cost 150 dollars. Not that much, considering Macs cost so much anyway, I would think the upgrades would be less.

Commedores really don't count when I said that, Macs were first in the relative market, and they aren't what more people have, Microsoft still is winning.

200 bucks?? for windows 7? for the shitty home edition you mean? for most of the decent features most would get the pro edition or ultimate. See that a misconception, mac's don't cost alot they just don't cater for the low end computers. I sell All in ones, laptops and Professional work stations.

Mac Pros can be upgraded just as much as a PC can to a point. the thing is OEM is not the same as Custom builds so don't even bother to compare 2 different infrastructures. The argument will be never over because home users like you don't get the differences between a mac and PC. So all I can say is you need to learn more about Computers in general to contribute to this argument.

Technically not a full disc, you can only use this disc to upgrade (Or clean install) a Mac with Leopard or Tiger, sure you can upgrade other OS' but that would be against the EULA. Full versions are like $100+

And Win 7 is well worth the money! Home edition is pleanty, you obviously don't know the differences between editions, the only difference between Pro and Home is business features! What average user wants that?

Both Windows & OS X have advantages and disadvantages, dont start a war! :)

OS X is restricted to Mac hardware, a disadvantage over Windows which can be bought off the shelf and installed on any computer. Both OS' can support more hardware than is currently even possible. It's merely Office. Why can't they just include pre-set installation types on one disc?

You know, if you're a student, select the "Student" installation, which will net you Word, Powerpoint, Publisher and OneNote. Y'know?

1 disc, several installation types for difference users. Much cheaper, much better for the overall market.

True, Open Office works just as well, but Office is just so implimented in everything, it just works, and it has more features too! People like using what they are used to, and thats why Open Office won't ever become as popular as Office. :)
