I quite like this mouse, it's pretty comfortable to use. Only two things I dislike on my mouse are that the surface got wear down quickly and that you have to push the mousewheel pretty strong to keep it pushed. This is a big problem in Call of Duty games when you use it to throw grenades.

So I went to the G9. Great mouse wheel, but the shape broke up after a year. The Kone's shape is awesome and it improved my skills.
Roccat's direction is the same as Razer, but Kone is superior to Razer's Mamba.

You noob, X8 is a POS! Metal wheel? Stupid and hard to grip a metal wheel. Rubber is the best. The X8 is like trying to ride a hippo-it's so fat in the ass. I bought one and hated it! Got rid of it ASAP. The blue laser was great and wireless, but I'm a claw grip gamer so X8 sucked!
Yes, it is. Maybe you won't notice the technical difference, so it depends on you personal preference for the shape. I prefer Kone's shape so I bought it over the G500.
I went to it from G9 and now I can aim much better in CS:S. But maybe it's just because it fits my hand way better.

@pippeli393 The Kone v2 has one of the best sensors in it on the market. The MX518 is a damn good mouse also. The Kone V2 sensor is arguably better than the Kone plus sensor which is the avago 9500.

after owning this mouse for 6 months is can safely say it's the biggest piece of crap I've ever tried! And the support for the mouse is nonexistent! AVOID at all cost!
I've had 3 Kones so far. EACH ONE broke within a month. I later found out it was a factory error Roccat knew about, but never said anything. They also took over 6 months to send a replacement. So after a milion emails with support and managment, after 3 Kone's and a year of crap and BS from the company and the product, and after the last one they sent broke, I threw the damn thing in the garbage.
Got it today, installation went perfectly. Wicked customization features I have to say. I certainly hope it fares better then my previous Logitech G5 with all the gaming I do, still G5 was a nice mouse and it served for quite some time. He he.
same here, cannot change, on vista64... flashing thundercat logo all the time :) not sure if I'm changing the DPI either... although the drivers seem to be installed and working... the mouse runs fine, but minus a few things on vista64 it seems
don't get mamba... it's like the lachesis, 100% useless; get a deathadder, mx518(1800 DPI ED)... also salmosa, G3/G5(SE)/G9 are better than the mamba and lachesis... also if you goint to waste 100+$ get the kone...
Guys its awesome i have it BUT! The click sound of the 2 basic mouse buttons is awful for the overall quality of this mouse...I accidentally worked at a friend with a basic optical microsoft mouse and the sound was MINIMAL! I had to bring it next to my ear to hear the click sound...Im disappointed by this specific 'flaw'...BUT the overall quality is unsurpassed...
It already has frozen once - also even a light hit on the table makes it think I have pressed mouse2 and this is really annoying especially with M4 in cs (silencer button).
The lights aren't that great really and I got bored in 10 minutes.
This mouse in fact DOES skip on high DPIs.
My 3-year-old MX518 beats it hands down and I am 100% to switch back asap.
I did, however, like the shape of the mouse and it fits my hand like a dream but that's all really.
I bought this mouse like 4 days ago. I use the mid-scroll button alot while speaking in voice-over programmes and just a couple of hours ago it broke... No idea what happened really, but now the scroll isn't working, I don't press very hard on it, but I guess it's something that happens once every now and then.
I am going to have to send mine back. The mouse cursor is too jittery during slow movements to be called a gaming mouse. The problem is really noticable during long slow diagonal movements.
There is also a weird skip or stutter that occurs a few times every minute. Might not sound too bad, but it does make navigating windows a pain. I find I am having to fight the cursor to get it to go where I want.
I am going to get a G9. Logitech and Razer are still the best for gaming mice.
I'm having the same problems with my G9...it jitters a little, and it has this strange lag...like when I scroll through the menu bar , or select some text and move the cursor down I have to struggle with it because it just doesn't want to go down. And the mouse is either too fast or too slow I can't get it to work properly,it just feel strange. I regret buying the G9. And also just like with G5 the logo on the back of the mouse peels off, I have it for about 2 months and its really ugly.
Also forgot to mention: it has huge mouse feet which work on all surfaces, but in my experience feel better on cloth pads. I'm, currently using the mouse with roccat sense and razor goliathus pads, and both work perfectly. However, I have had a problem with the mouse not working after reboot (something to do with the way the MB sends power to the mouse) and although a replug of the mouse fixes it, I'm still waiting to see if the support adresses this issue. So I suggest you test this.
mine arrived a couple of days a go.. and it's awesome! The best mouse I had so far, and that includes the razor lachesis and the logitech mx518 which I'm gonna sell soon.
i just bought one bt i can't get it working on either Vista machine, but another XP machine in the house works perfectly. I can't work out whats wrong, other vista users have it working.
Anyway, its a really great mouse, and is like a cross between razer and logitech. the lighting effects are amazing too. any colour you want, even if u want 5 different colours at once or you want them to continuously change, you can.
i have roccat kone for 3 years ind its working so far sometimes dust gets in the usb plugin but nothing bad

I have two of these mice because they DO tend to break a lot. However, ROCCAT's support is excellent and they get a replacement quickly for you.
I think the problems with the build quality is acceptable since it is an excellent mouse.

The mamba looks really great and all it's just irritating to think of that 20$ out of those 129.99$ are spend on the package.
I would rather have wanted they would spend it on the quality or something and given me a blank boring and brown package.

after owning this mouse for 6 months is can safely say it's the biggest piece of crap I've ever tried! And the support for the mouse is nonexistent! AVOID at all cost!

And let me just add this:
I've had 3 Kones so far. EACH ONE broke within a month. I later found out it was a factory error Roccat knew about, but never said anything. They also took over 6 months to send a replacement. So after a milion emails with support and managment, after 3 Kone's and a year of crap and BS from the company and the product, and after the last one they sent broke, I threw the damn thing in the garbage.
Worst investment I ever made!

Got it today, installation went perfectly. Wicked customization features I have to say. I certainly hope it fares better then my previous Logitech G5 with all the gaming I do, still G5 was a nice mouse and it served for quite some time. He he.

same here, cannot change, on vista64... flashing thundercat logo all the time :) not sure if I'm changing the DPI either... although the drivers seem to be installed and working... the mouse runs fine, but minus a few things on vista64 it seems

This mouse is awesome, it has a good look, and it's useful at the same time.
I don't like the Razer models, because they are slim, and this mouse is better for a larger hand.

don't get mamba... it's like the lachesis, 100% useless; get a deathadder, mx518(1800 DPI ED)... also salmosa, G3/G5(SE)/G9 are better than the mamba and lachesis... also if you goint to waste 100+$ get the kone...

Guys its awesome i have it BUT! The click sound of the 2 basic mouse buttons is awful for the overall quality of this mouse...I accidentally worked at a friend with a basic optical microsoft mouse and the sound was MINIMAL! I had to bring it next to my ear to hear the click sound...Im disappointed by this specific 'flaw'...BUT the overall quality is unsurpassed...

I got this thing. I don't like it.
It already has frozen once - also even a light hit on the table makes it think I have pressed mouse2 and this is really annoying especially with M4 in cs (silencer button).
The lights aren't that great really and I got bored in 10 minutes.
This mouse in fact DOES skip on high DPIs.
My 3-year-old MX518 beats it hands down and I am 100% to switch back asap.
I did, however, like the shape of the mouse and it fits my hand like a dream but that's all really.

I bought this mouse like 4 days ago. I use the mid-scroll button alot while speaking in voice-over programmes and just a couple of hours ago it broke... No idea what happened really, but now the scroll isn't working, I don't press very hard on it, but I guess it's something that happens once every now and then.

I am going to have to send mine back. The mouse cursor is too jittery during slow movements to be called a gaming mouse. The problem is really noticable during long slow diagonal movements.
There is also a weird skip or stutter that occurs a few times every minute. Might not sound too bad, but it does make navigating windows a pain. I find I am having to fight the cursor to get it to go where I want.
I am going to get a G9. Logitech and Razer are still the best for gaming mice.

I'm having the same problems with my G9...it jitters a little, and it has this strange lag...like when I scroll through the menu bar , or select some text and move the cursor down I have to struggle with it because it just doesn't want to go down. And the mouse is either too fast or too slow I can't get it to work properly,it just feel strange. I regret buying the G9. And also just like with G5 the logo on the back of the mouse peels off, I have it for about 2 months and its really ugly.

Also forgot to mention: it has huge mouse feet which work on all surfaces, but in my experience feel better on cloth pads. I'm, currently using the mouse with roccat sense and razor goliathus pads, and both work perfectly. However, I have had a problem with the mouse not working after reboot (something to do with the way the MB sends power to the mouse) and although a replug of the mouse fixes it, I'm still waiting to see if the support adresses this issue. So I suggest you test this.

mine arrived a couple of days a go.. and it's awesome! The best mouse I had so far, and that includes the razor lachesis and the logitech mx518 which I'm gonna sell soon.

i just bought one bt i can't get it working on either Vista machine, but another XP machine in the house works perfectly. I can't work out whats wrong, other vista users have it working.
Anyway, its a really great mouse, and is like a cross between razer and logitech. the lighting effects are amazing too. any colour you want, even if u want 5 different colours at once or you want them to continuously change, you can.
